Just started looking around a little bit

Id like to be able to get a pretty big one - 64oz at least 1gal size would be cool too id probably buy one of each to try them out -- anything smaller almost seems pointless imo

so far i seen the http://www.kleankanteen.com/ -- i looked them up on amazon to see about cheaper pricing and the one review stated that they are not truly stainless steel and are very magnetic (newer models) he said he had an older model that was truely stainless steel

so id probly steer away from them for now because of that

any input or suggestions would be very much appreciated

thanks

Re: stainless steel canteens

Are you wanting a stainless canteen so you can boil the water in it and then just leave it in the canteen? Or are there other reasons for wanting stainless? Give some more details since there are many option available. It may be easier to decide on what options would work better if everyone knew your reasons for it.

try the ghillie kettle simply badass. You can rapidly boil water with just twigs and sticks. Love mine for duck hunting

free from potential leaching of toxins via plastic of whatever form

glass breaks

stainless steel is strong and toxin free and cook able with it

boiling in it is a major concern - can cook something or sterilize water for drinking

idea is for extended camping with only water being what i carry out / find

needs to rugged so as to take bumps and falls and being dropped accidentally which im sure will happen

Re: stainless steel canteens

I have had mine for 15 years and it works like a champ. Water boils in like 3 minutes at sea level, and you can kinda cook off of it I have made many fish dinners off of it.
