So The CZ 452 is in the shop!

It's getting a SS Benck Mark Barrel 2-groove choked (tapered) bore barrel,
reamed with a Lilja match reamer (Thanks STEVE)
and is going to be glass Bedded into a tacticool stock.
All metal is to be gun koted "Patriot Brown"

And it will still wear the Vortex 6-25 Moa/Moa scope.

Theoretically it should then shoot ever bit as good as an Annie.. But we'll see how it does when i get it back, broke it and find it's favorite ammo.

Hope to be @ a Conover match soon!! Miss my family!

Re: .22 build almost done!

Since I'm in betwixt lathes my friend Jimmy @ Predator Custom (online) is entrusted to the work...

Barrel was a special deal. I think normal cost is typical of any premium rifled barrel ~ 'tween $3-4C....

Re: .22 build almost done!

Sounds like a great build my friend! I'm eager to see the results.

Re: .22 build almost done!

I look forward to seeing the finished product. Patriot Brown is really growing on me.

Re: .22 build almost done!

Sounds like a neat build. I was just informed by Obama that you didn't build it though.

Wow. What an inspirational first post. We all look forward to your next nugget of wisdom.

Re: .22 build almost done!

Haha, apparently you guys dont stay on top of Obama's speeches. Anyhow, good luck. Would love to see some pictures of it.

Re: .22 build almost done!

Man, that sounds like a nice build. I just have to ask, though. Why are you putting all of that effort into that rifle and then throwing it into a Tacticool stock?

Re: .22 build almost done!

"Tacticool" stocks are laminated. They are stable. And in my price range. So what gives?

Sure if I had your monies I'd have it set in a Manner's stock identical to the one on my big bore but I'm dealing with my money...

Jesus, what is it with this site? All I did was ask a question and now I'm getting a response as though I had kicked someone's mother.

OK, so, what gives? First, you're taking a rifle that isn't bad in stock form, but is nowhere near match grade in accuracy. You are adding a $300+ plus barrel. You're giving it to someone to put together and having him bed the stock. I'm assuming that you are paying this guy to do all of this work. If I'm wrong, good for you.

With all of the effort you're putting into the rifle, I can only assume that this is a project born of passion for the rifle itself. A project that you are pursuing just to see what it can do.

For all of the money that you're going to have in it, you could have just bought a "real" Annie 54, rather than just hoping to wind up with a rifle that shoots like an Annie, which brought me to my question that seemed to hit some sort of nerve.

First, yes the Tacticool is a laminate in construction. It isn't laminated. Even though it is a laminate, even a laminate is only going to be as strong as the material that it is made of. Tacticool stocks are made of a very weak and soft grade of wood. It looks tactical. It feels tactical, but it ain't tactical. It's a pretty weak stock. They do twist, flex and bend, although a good bedding job should help with this.

I've used many Tacticool stocks to drop plain Jane Savages and 10/22 builds into, because they usually get the job done well enough and they are cheap; but I've also found that quite a few of those rifles did better sitting in a better stock, especially if shooting off of a front and rear rest.

I only asked why you were using that stock because it seemed to me that your CZ was going to be somewhat of a special build and I thought that it deserved a better stock. If money was the concern, that was all you needed to say.

I only posted because I wanted to discuss your build with you. A couple of other threads here that showed what a CZ can do with an aftermarket barrel sparked my interest in CZs.

I asked the question of why you were going with the Tacticool because I was thinking that you might be able to give me some insight into your reasons for going with the Tacticool. Maybe you knew something that I didn't know. I've never used a Tacticool on a CZ.

So, you take my question as a criticism to your build and respond with a smart assed comment. Maybe you should append the title of your thread to include the phrase, "post with praise only."

Touchy touchy.

You took that as sharp and went off. Just breath son.

Nothing meant to offend.
