So the wife wanted to get out of the house today after being stuck home all week because of Hurricane Issac.

She gave me the choice between the new Bourne move or Lawless. I told her to pick. She picked Lawless and was thinking oh great Shia LaBeouf...this is gonna suck.

It was actually a pretty good flick. Violent with a good amount of blood so not for the kidos, but I actually am glad she picked it. Good ganster films are a rare these days.

So if you're looking for a new movie to see, check it out. It's based on a book "The Wettest County in the World" written by the grandson of one of the characters. Might pick it up and give it a read.

Re: Lawless

I really liked the movie. It's less of a slow simmer than a fast boil, but it was an excellent gangster movie about Virginia during Prohibition. Worth a trip to the movies.

Re: Lawless

Redbox rental is your best bet. Expected more action and shooting but it was kinda of thin. Story lne was good but unless you are bored, wait for the DVD.

Re: Lawless

I loved the movie. Tom Hardy was epic and brings the same overwhelming badass physicality to the movie that he did in TDKR. Gary Oldamn for the few minutes he had was brilliant, i just can't believe he wasn't in it more. I thought he was going to be involved in a much bigger way, like providing support to the Bondurants against the law. Guy Pearce is a hell of an actor he plays a very good villain. For the most part i like Shia, he's a solid actor but he needs to be given a role that really gets him out of his shell. I kept waiting for his character to snap as the movie went on and it seemed to never happen. Despite it's flaws i still loved it. Seeing Gary Oldman hold the Thompson made me think of John Dillenger. Suddenly i think he would've done better than Johnny Depp in that role. Hell Oldman looks like Dillenger more so than Johnny Depp. Maybe a tad old for the part, but i think the movie would've done better.

Re: Lawless

saw it yesterday, I guess i was expecting a whole lot more action and Shia's character not suck so bad and being a dumbass.
this movie was a waste of time and a only a bit disappointing because there were some nice titties to look at once in a while.

most defenitely but his movie needs way more titties to make it better though.

Re: Lawless

I thought it was a great movie, and supposedly being based off of actual events. Not so sure "real" events need exploding helicopters and silicone to make them enjoyable. If that's what you want, I'm sure Red Box has "Zombie Strippers" available for a buck...

Re: Lawless

I saw it last night. I liked it. Not the greatest movie ever, but I don't feel like I wasted my money.
