Re: SEPT 2012 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Thank you TOP PREDATOR for putting these rimfire matches together! While I have been browsing the forum for a while, finding these fun matches finally made me register. Outstanding job on the targets, they are quite fun, and challenging. I'm looking forward to posting more scores as I shoot more of the comps.

Re: SEPT 2012 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

thanks, i can't take full credit, it was JOE MARTIN's brainchild, with many of the targets development a combined effort of many, particularly the TRC target that incorporates so much in 1 target.

WBM target was conceived as "proof" to back up that you can hit a fly at X yards.

BTW nice shooting at the bugs, especially at 50 yards. i only see 2 misses (1 being a wing hit, and the other just a little off), well done.

Re: SEPT 2012 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Kudos to all that put the work into setting these fun matches up. It's a good excuse to get some trigger time.

That WBM target is just plain fun!! Difficult too... those bugs (especially the fly's) are pretty small. It doesn't take much, and you'll miss them. Thank you for the compliment.

That TRC target looks like a blast!! I imagine it's pretty hard to clean it, it wouldn't take much to drop points on any stage. I'm looking forward to shooting it... Unfortunately I'm having trouble with my "zero" wandering after I move my turrents. I shouldn't be suprised, it's a BSA sweet 22 3-9X40. I shot a box drill with it today, and my 5th group was over 2 MOA away from my 1st.

My 42m(a) was a "project" gun that I finished not too long ago. http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=165&t=121988 I'm having a hard time finding everything I want in a scope with a 1" tube, I'm not really enthused about the 30mm/rimfire dovetail ring selection. I also have less than $200 in the rifle, I really can't justify spending over $500 on a scope. I'm thinking about the bushnell elite tactical 10 X 40, the lack of parallax adjustment isn't as big a deal to me as to some people. I don't have a canted base and the 80 MOA of total adjustment will get me to 200 yds. 200 yds will probably be the longest that I'll regularly shoot her. I really just need a (relatively) in-expensive optic that gives repeatable adjustments... turrents were made to be moved, I can't just let mine sit.

BTW I really like what you and some of the other guys have done with airsoft guns and rimfires... very inovative!! Gets me thinking...

Anyway, I won't clutter up the thread anymore, good luck to everybody!! I look forward to contributing!

Definitely a fun target!! It was a little tricky because I was also shooting a box drill, and out to 100 yds and back to confirm scope issues. The CB shot was the first shot out of the rifle today, but the other stages were shot after I had confirmed my scope is a peice of junk.

Definitely going to post in the Learnings from rimfire comp thread.

Good luck to all in October!

Re: SEPT 2012 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

My apologies I didn't get a target in on time for oct. I think the more who do this the more attractive it is.

Being out of work puts a choke on my shooting. I may have something lined up though which is a miracle considering the unemployment problem where I live.
