So what is the most temp insensitive 223/5.56 powder that still meters well? Here in phx winters get down to 40s and summers go to 115.. Varget has worked very well in my 308, but I trickle that . I am attempting to load for my ar using something that meters well , so I can just use something like a chargemaster. Not worth trickling for it.

Fron research I know aa2520 an ram shot tac meters very well but is very temp sensitive. Varget and re15 meters poorly but are more temp insensitive.

    Is there something in between?

Alliant ar-comp as well. It is still extruded powder but it is smaller kernels which drop better on my progressive press.

What makes both these powders considered for 'benchrest' (as per their descriptions). The reason I ask is because this is going in a DD 16" ar15.

Seems like 8208XBR is the answer I was looking for. Doing more research on it, it is temp insensitive, meters well and provides accurate loads for many. Thank you!

    SH never dissapoints!

Here's another good read on Tac and other options reguarding temperature sensitivity if you haven't seen it.

My 223 is a Bolt rifle and I tried several different powders. I settled on Benchmark behind a 55 grn Blitzking. I liked H335 in the winter time but as soon as it warmed up my groups spread out. I found Benchmark stayed true no matter what the temp is.

Accurate 2460. Meters like water, works well in all my ARs and bolt guns. I use it for sage rats and rockchucks n the spring and summer, coyotes in the winter, and have never had a problem.

I am currently using ARComp. It is a shorter stick than Varget. In my polished Dillon powder measure on a 650 it throws a .3 range.

There is a temp. review of ARComp on here somewhere.

AR-Comp. Excellent temperature stability and meters well enough. Good accuracy, too.

I thought it was great for a temperature insensitive powder, but not so much as an easy throwable powder. I much prefer ramshot TAC for that.
