Put an 8-26x Horus Predator on my MR Picuda and actually got there today. Just shooting informally, i could see bullet impact dust trace at that range. Had to shim the 30mm offset inserts with credit card strips to get as much as possible out of the setup, but i now have 150 useable reticle+turret--

Here's the setup with a couple prairie dogs i got today--

Shim installed in the 30mm rings .025" in bottom rear and barely visible .010 top front--

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Looks like your having fun man! I need to get back to playing around with long range .22lr

I did try 1000 yards a while back, farthest I could "lob" them was around 950 yards! and by no means very accurately, but that is as far as I could get them to go.

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Lord Clayne--that's amazing--how in the world did you ever reference that kinda drop in an optic? checked it out and it needs somewhere around 300 MOA to get there.

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Using points on a far off hill side for points of aim, shoot then move down to see where it hits. ha ha. When I try long range seriously I use my variable gantry mount. I can get another 110 moa on top of what my scope has

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

That was using a fixed 16x, if it were variable sfp you could get more hold but hard to spot hits and misses, I did hit a 2 foot round steel target at 900 a few times, But thats like 2 out of 50 shots

Actually I guess nothing, now that you bring it up. Hard to think of the angular compensation in the rings. Easy to see the rear, but i guess i'd need less in the front bottom then, which i don't think can be achieved. Maybe everything needs to be accomplished in the rear ring.

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Never said i could shoot accurately that far, probably because i never will be able to...wishful thinking, but at least i can reference it with the optic.

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Heck Clayne--besides that it's friggin' cool lookin'...ehh? HA

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Before I seen your post's about long range with a .22lr pistol I was thinking of buying a Charger and putting a variable gantry mount on it and flinging a few out there.... One of these days when the right deal comes along for one I will

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Hope you do Clayne-i know Topstrap here has used the VGM on a pistol or 2 of his. Love to see your results with it sir.

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Pretty cool pistol!

I have 2 rimfires set up with Predators. Great varmint hunting scope.

My farthest PD hit with a 22 was 333Y. Something like 69 IPHY with a 50Y zero.

When did you do that hunt?

Re: 600 Yard Capable...

Makes me want to trade rifles for a pistol.. I dig the mono pod... What king of clip is that?
