ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

just reading that makes my blood boil.. i really hope that does not become a trend across our nation.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

This is getting scary. For the people in La LA land...... Ur fools, THis is the realist attack on our 2nd amendment rights and constitution EVER!

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

WOW thats the devil in disguise right their. So really she is saying hand in your firearms in a round about way.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

and I though those of us that live in NY had it bad.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

“We have a unique opportunity to revisit our regulations and update them. We must focus on what are truly weapons of mass destruction"

With rhetoric like that, ya'll need to start not only writing your reps and senators, but your news papers and tv stations as well.

And as always, I'd be happy to store your firearms down here in Texas

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

"Prohibit the storage of firearms and ammunition in a manner that allows access by persons under age 18."

Better outlaw drills and drill bits in case a minor wants to break into a safe that has properly stored firearms. I know what I did as a kid to get to something I wasn't allowed to have.

"Prohibit the online purchase of ammunition"

Can't prohibit a person from spending money. Can prohibit them from having ammo shipped to them in CT.

"Institute a 50-percent sales tax on the sale of ammunition and firearms magazines;"

So the outlaw magazines AND tax them? I'm confused.

"Require the registration with state law enforcement officials—and the biennial registration renewal—of all firearms by model and serial number;"

Not already in place in the Liberal controlled Northeast?

"Expand the definition of an ‘assault weapon’ under current Connecticut state law to apply to firearms which exhibit just one particular physical trait, as opposed to two (i.e., the presence of a pistol grip beneath the action of the weapon)"

Good luck with that. All pistols have a grip, would they now qualify?

"Prohibit the sale and possession of any rifle, shotgun or pistol magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rounds;"

Work on drugs, then we'll talk about this.

I'm sorry for our firearm owning brethren in the East. This is one reason I left NY.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Society needs to focus their attention on people with mental illness who use firearms. It would be more intelligent to focus on early detection and treatment of mental illness than to target firearms. Man, I just wish these proposals do not find themselves nationally.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Not a single one of those proposed regulations would do anything to prevent another massacre, but they sure make life suck for responsible people that enjoy shooting as a hobby.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Wow, that sounds awful. What is your state legislature make up look like? Do they have the #'s to possibly pass something that drastic? Here in MN, the DFL had a clean sweep this last election winning majorities in the house and senate and we already have the wackiest liberal governor around. I can only imagine what kind of crap they are getting ready to pull on us - for the children.

Good luck,
Erik

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

I'd say good luck to you guys...but I think your fubar. You guys already got bullshit gun laws, the ammo ones on this along with the single feature makes just about anything including my boltrifle a assault weapon.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Already looking at buying a safe down in NC at my brother's house. Most of my guns will be moving if this goes through. Followed by me when I can retire.

The good news is that legislative proposals always get watered down. The bad news is that some of this has a good chance of passing. My guesses are as follows:
- 10 round mag limit on new firearm purchases
- A tax increase on ammo (probably not as high as 50% but still substantial)
- Permit to buy ammo
- Ban of online ammo shipments to non FFL holders in CT

I don't know what to think of the "assault weapon" proposal. It would nearly mean the end of semi-auto rifles in CT (except for maybe an M1).

All of this is crap and will do nothing to make our schools or other "soft targets" safer. A recreational target or skeet shooter has nothing in common with that Lanza maniac but has to endure a hefty penalty because a few jerks want to exploit the tragedy for their BS political agenda.

Truth. The many suffer for the actions of a few.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

I actually wrote one of my Senator's here in WY the other night. It was asking when we can hold people accountable for lies in regards to "assault rifles". We all need to stand up and fight this as a united front. Gun control only hurts law abiding citizens!

I have to my state senators.

I'm talking about in regards to CT....they've already got shitty gunlaws. After this....well this is probably all the need to push it to Full retard. And sadly outside of a revolution or finding dirt on their elected officials they are screwed.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Don't live in CT but this is ridiculous. What part of "shall not be infringed" is unclear? Write your reps!

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

In 1981 I used to walk to the bus stop with a cased Browning Superposed, 3 boxes of Low Brass, get on the SCHOOL BUS, arrive at school, walk down the halls with the shotgun, put in the coach's office along with 20 other guns, the ride a school bus to skeet practice. All while having a Buck 110 on my belt...........My how things have changed.

Glad i left in 83 for the Army.

Good luck to the brothers behind enemy lines. The chair has a long mustache.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

My sympathies to law abiding gun owners in the NE, suggest you move south. So my question is why not the same panic over drunk driving? I believe drunk driving kills more people so why has there been no call to outlaw alcohol? It's simple, liberals don't like guns and the 2A so they use tragedies like this one to serve their political agenda.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Ok either you didn't pay any attention once so ever to the past CT Election or your just kidding yourself. Do you honestly believe writting these azzholes is going to do anything? Because they don't want or need our vote. We are in CT its next to impossible to vote in a pro-gun politician, let alone enough of them to stop the left we have in power here. So yeah its a great idea to voice your opinion or in this case your constitutional right. Not to be the bearer of bad news but its falling on deaf ears. I have been writting them for many years and it has gotten me no where. Will I write them again? Of course. Do I expect a different outcome? NO

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Guys everyone in every state needs to be writing their elected officials.

Proposals like this one in CT are going to be popping up everywhere.

http://senatedems.ct.gov/pr/bye-121220.php?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

We need to make sure that these anti-constitutional proposals are shot down before they ever make it to a committee let alone a vote on the floor.

I can't tell you how many people I have been able to convince in the last week that black rifles are not the evil weapons that the media portrays them as. Talk with your friends, neighbors, coworkers, church members, etc. Do all you can to give people the correct information concerning Semi-Auto rifles.

i.e.
- Semi-automatic rifles do not meet the true definition of an assault rifle.
- These rifles are not military grade rifles as they are not full auto or select fire
- These rifles typically use rounds that are not considered to be powerful enough to hunt big game with in most states. The media seems to claim that they are some of the most powerful guns available.
- These rifles are used for sporting uses across the nation. They are used in competition. They are used to take predators such as coyotes. They are also used by many enthusiasts for recreational shooting.
- They can be made to shoot multiple calibers. 22lr on up. This means that an individual can buy one rifle and have it fill multiple roles.
- The second amendment is not about having firearms for sporting purposes. It is about keeping the government in check. The founding fathers knew how important this was.
- The last so called assault weapon ban, which also banned high cap mags, had no impact on gun related violence. Columbine occurred smack dab in the middle of the Clinton era gun ban.
- All of the recent shootings took place on property that did not allow individuals to carry concealed firearms. i.e. Sandy Hook, Oregon Mall, Aurora Colorado Movie Theatre, Virginia Tech, Columbine, Trolley Square, etc. Don't you think we should revisit the idea of gun free zones. In my opinion, they should either be secured or allow legally concealed firearms.

Encourage your all you know to join the NRA. They are fighting for our rights and we need to help support them.

Encourage you elected leaders to pass laws like Montana and Utah did in 2010 that makes firearms built in their states, sold in their states, and kept in their states, exempt from Federal Gun Law. This kind of legislation sends a strong message to the Obama administration and all of the other anti-gunners. It lets them know that the people in each of these states will not stand up and take their gun control nonsense.

The Anti-Gunners are doing all in their power to trample on our rights. We need to make sure that all of us are putting the same sort of energy into this fight.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

As I recall CT voters voted 93% or somewhere along that lines for Obama? Good luck. Although I'll write to mine in MD.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Why was the Revolutionary War fought.

If I remember right it was the same type of tyrany that sparked the uprising.
Do not go down witout a fight.

What do you think the words "Don't Tread on Me" mean.

Do not be passive. Fight and then Fight some more.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

I'm not saying don't write. We definitely need to.
However, I always try to be realistic in that even if this stuff is passed at the state level, won't there immediately be a lawsuit because of its constitutionality? Again, as gun owners, we have a right to be heard and our rights should be defended.

The proposed laws in that article most definitely "infringe" on one's rights to "keep or bear arms".

That constitution we have will always be the ultimate equalizer for lib-tards and their desires for the country. The second amendment is pretty straightforward. My concern has always been ammunition or ammunition components more than actual firearms. Until an amendment is passed by (I think) 2/3 of the states which would do away with, or modify, the 2nd amendment, those who seek to take away our rights will always run up against it. Even a pretty liberal supreme court has sided for the 2nd amendment in the last few year. If such an amendment were to ever pass, I'm afraid our country would once again plunge into civil war.

I know I'm naive, but I've always had faith in our country and its constitution. A law might be passed, but often times they are struck down due to unconstitutionality.

That be said, it is scary times we live in.
I pray this all blows over or loses steam once the sting of the CT events pass.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

I'm not a lawyer but I don't see how one can use the 2nd Amendment as protection against the draconian excise proposed on ammo sales or the ban on purchasing ammo from out-of-state. I think that DC and MA have similar laws already. The insidiousness of this legislation is that it seeks to erode firearms ownership by making it too expensive and tedious to bother.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

When they violate the second, we should violate the 16th.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

We have had this BS in the UK for years.

The only thing gun control achieves is to penalise the law abiding shooter.

As others have said...anything can be used as a lethal weapon in the hands of those so inclined.

Go to any hardware store or kitchen shop and count the number of tools that can do lethal damage.

Good luck!

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

And in Britain, you have a higher violent crime rate than here, don't you?

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Not sure about that...but gun control doesn't eradicate criminals or the mentally ill.

Not even the UK background checks looks at family members medical or criminal histories.

And as in the Cumbia shootings a year or two ago....the guy in Conneticut just snapped/ no previous history. As far as I understand the guy in Conneticut shot his mother and stole her guns. How do you foresee that?

Assault rifles?

Anyone armed with a 10/22 can do a LOT of damage to unarmed people.

Hell....even a guy with a car (as we had recently) or a kitchen knife can take a fair few down before they get stopped.

Anyone can go an buy a chain saw, pick-axe handle, or kitchen knife with no problem.

Knee-jerk legislation is just a headline grabber for those with their own agenda.

It is the person weilding the tool that is the problem....not the tool itself.

That's what seems to be missed by the non-shooting sports lobby.

</div></div>
It was never the point with them about prevention of crime - it is about the prevention of our rights.
It NOT about our hobby.
It is NOT about our convenience either.
It is ALL about our right to defend ourselves FROM the government.
If they limit you and not themselves then they will always win the fight.
It not unlike making you take a knife to a gun fight.

Well said my friend. I try to talk to every person I know and tell them the truth about firearms. Just last night we had friends over. The wife said to me those assualt rifles are very powerful and do a lot of damage. So I went into my reloading room and took out a .22, .223, .308, .375 and .45-70 loaded ammo and a single bullet of each. I told her this is what that assualt rifle shoots. She did not believe me. So I went into the safe and pulled one out to prove to her. She was shocked and asked how can the media get away with their lies? I said because people like you that don't know better believe whatever you hear. So I told her please write to your state senator and reps because they are trying to pass a bill that is unconsititutional. She said she would. I hope she really does, but more importantly I hope she tells her other soccer moms the truth.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

In recent decades there have been incidents with similar death tolls in China where some mentally unstable people went on killing sprees within kindergartens with regular household kitchen knives.
This just goes to show that it really is the individual and not the weapon that should be instigated as the root of the problem. I feel in the hypothetical situation where firearms were not allowed within the US, such incidents probably involving actual swords would take the place of firearm related homicides.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

To Basraboy, Do you have a good link for your reference to using s car for deliberate killings? I've been in an argument with anti-liberal gun assholes and I told them That someone could kill more kids in less time by mowing them over on the Vegas strip or at a school crossing with an SUV than with an AR. I would love to be able to provide a link. Thanks.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

I decided to be proactive and invite an old friend who I haven't seen too much in the last 5 years to a all expenses paid day at the range along with teaching him about guns and safety.

He also happens to be an Editor and writer for the online MSN site and is usually posting on FB negative gun related info.
So I figured what better way to show that guns can be fun and safe than to have two old friends spend the day together shooting.

He said he'd love to go, we're working on day that works so I'll report back how it went.

Hoping that even if it changes his perspective on firearms even a little in the positive that maybe that will carry over into the media side of it.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Guys, sorry to say, its not just going on in CT - but out here in the West as well.
Hickenlooper Open to Discussion on Gun Control

I for one have called the Governors office, along with my CO State congressmen to let them know my family will be moving to WY if this passes in CO. My wife is not happy, but I told them I am a one issue voter, and on this issue, I will not compromise. I just hope it doesn't pass at a national level and render my argument useless.

I suggest you folks who live in CT (where I moved to CO from) join me in letting your congressmen know the consequences of actions so disquieting.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

I live in Maryland and our governor has his sights (no not gun sights) set on running for president so I am 100% certain that he will enact measures that are at least as draconian as those.

From here on out it's a slippery slope folks.

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

Hi Guys, this is in interesting read for you an article from the Sydney morning herald a few years back,we have some tough laws down here, hope this helps.

In his first year in office, the Prime Minister, John Howard, forced through some of the world's toughest gun laws, including the national buyback scheme, after Martin Bryant used semi-automatic rifles to shoot dead 35 people at Port Arthur.

Although furious licensed gun-owners said the laws would have no impact because criminals would not hand in their guns, Mr Howard and others predicted the removal of so many guns from the community, and new laws making it harder to buy and keep guns, would lead to a reduction in all types of gun-related deaths.

One of the authors of the study, Jeanine Baker, said she knew in 1996 it would be impossible for years to know whether the Prime Minister or the shooters were right.

"I have been collecting data since 1996 … The decision was we would wait for a decade and then evaluate," she said.

The findings were clear, she said: "The policy has made no difference. There was a trend of declining deaths that has continued."

Dr Baker and her co-author, Samara McPhedran, declared their membership of gun groups in the article, something Dr Baker said they had done deliberately to make clear "who we are" and head off any possible criticism that they had hidden relevant details.

The significance of the article was not who had written it but the fact it had been published in a respected journal after the regular rigorous process of being peer reviewed, she said.

Politicians had assumed tighter gun laws would cut off the supply of guns to would-be criminals and that homicide rates would fall as a result, the study said. But more than 90 per cent of firearms used to commit homicide were not registered, their users were not licensed and they had been unaffected by the firearms agreement.

Dr Baker said many more lives would have been saved had the Government spent the $500 million on mental health or other programs rather than on destroying semi-automatic weapons.

She believed semi-automatic rifles should be available to shooters, although with tight restrictions such as those in place in New Zealand.

The director of the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics, Dr Don Weatherburn, said he was not surprised by the study. He said it showed "politicians would be well advised to claim success of their policies after they were evaluated, not before".

Re: ATTENTION CONNECTICUT GUN OWNERS!

The big push isn't about saving lives...it's about control. Disarmed people are much easier controlled.

This is how it started for Feinstein years ago after the 101 California Street shooting in SF. "We have a unique opportunity to ..." Most women do not understand why men like to shoot, so the emotional response to Newtown will carry this onerous legislation forward. Only the courts will be able to limit the impact. I hope the US Supreme Court will eventually recognize the right to own guns with sufficient capabilities to defend ourselves against a government that turns against its citizens, otherwise only handguns used for personal defense will have a special place in law.

All these idiots seem to forget the shooting in pearl ms in 97, where myrick an asst principle detained the shooter until authorities arrived at gunpoint with his personal .45 which he got from his car. As a retired police officer i am a firm believer in deterrence, if bad guys know someone out there may be armed and may confront them, they know their success rate will be less.

Yeah, that's called "common sense" however liberals lack any of it.
