SW AMMO UPDATE THREAD

Good news on knocking out the reloads! Any feel for ETA for the Dec shipments? If one supplies their own 175g SMKs will there still be a price increase?

We are shipping around 65 to 75 boxes a day, we are knocking out the reloads, I did put them on the back burner a bit and I apologize for that, it is fast pace around here right now.

We will make some more changes to the reloading service.

We are going to limit what brass brands we will reload. I am getting a lot of brass that looks like it was scooped up at the range after sitting on the ground for a year. Some are sending in berdan primed brass mixed in with boxer primed brass.

So here is the break down.

Brass we will reload for 308 (below):

southwest head stamped brass
FC nato or federal commercial brass
Winchester brass
BHA head stamped brass
Lapua brass
SSA
LC if it has not been fired in a machine gun, fired out of bolt or AR rifles only
NORMA brass
PPU
WCC
GGG

If you do not see it up there, we will have to say no to the reloading it. Sorry about the change, but some brass is really hard on our stuff, and becomes time consuming, and right now, we cant have that.

Price jump on the reloads for 308 is $.74 per round for most SMK's and some AMAx projectile. The reason for the price jump is so we can get the help needed to get these out faster. We will not take payment anymore up front, just send in the brass and we will contact you when we are done with the total amount.

We will add some more options like Berger projectiles and hunting projectiles to the list and sub sonic options.

The changes will be make on the web store next week.

On the new ammo side we have made some changes when it comes to payment. We no longer take payment at purchase. We take it at the time it ships, back logs are to far back to do what we use to do so we changed that.

We will also be getting our own 308 and 260 brass made, 308 brass is about 30 to 60 days out, and the 260 is about 60 to 90 days out. We are taking pre orders for these products. We will be eliminating the Winchester 308 product and replacing it with our own head stamped brass.

We have a lot of new faces here at SW ammo.

I gotta hurry up and order. I know it's been difficult for SW Ammo to keep up with an unprecedented demand and I commend them on how they're doing it.
 
I ordered about $300.00 for 175 grain 308 cartridges from Southwest Ammo. They immediately took the money from my account but...

It's been almost 6 weeks and I haven't heard a thing from them. I tried calling, I tried Email...I guess I could send them a snail-mail letter; maybe they would respond to that.

When did you order? I'm waiting on an order from mid January. About how long are you seeing for shipping times? Heard word that it would ship Friday, Feb 14... still nothing.
I trying to be as patient as possible because of everyone's reviews of their product.. just getting worried as there's an upcoming hunting trip in my close future.

my order was placed about the same time and I got mine a week ago.

You'll have to call them directly and find out. Due to the panic purchasing, getting components have been difficult, for example-- they were having difficulty with Lapua brass and at one time they were delayed on powder....think SMK's were an issue too.


A realistic time frame for delivery is 4-6 weeks.

I realize this is super recent, I just wanted to know if 300 Win was backlogged or on shipping delay because of other orders, or if I can expect it to ship soon. Thanks.
 
I emailed them the other day about the 300wm w/208 amax that shows instock

was told everything is about 8-10 weeks delay for shipping even for whats itstock

I ordered in-stock items (110 rounds) and I'm still waiting and it's been 6 weeks. I'd say the 8-10 is probably spot on. I even ordered when the items said it would only be a 2 week wait.

Not excessive at all. It's just the way the industry is right now due to the sheer volume of the demand....just be lucky they're taking orders.

As to accurate, probably. Besides, it's better to tell you 8-10 weeks, have it show up in 6 weeks then tell you 4-6 weeks and have it take 10 weeks.
 
My .45 acp order took a bit over 6 weeks. Glad I was able to get anything considering everything I have on order everywhere else is on backorder.

The Big Brown truck just left me a nice packaged order of my 270pcs in 308 reloads!! I had to be patient but now I'm a very, very happy customer. Everything was nicely packed, and Zach threw in 6 of the Berry's boxes at no extra charge. All looks good and my Sig 716 will get sighted-in with my USO 1.5x6 this weekend. Zack and your crew, thank you for everything!!
 
I just placed an order yesterday for 175SMK's. My CC was billed immediately. (Backordered item expected on 3/1.) FWIW

I just thought my CC wasn't going to be billed until it has shipped.
 
I'd rather have them debit my account today than wait a couple months... by then, I've already forgotten about the purchase. If they're going to wait, I expect a phone call asking if I still want the items.
 
yeah I agree . Some folks have mentioned they care and SWammo mentioned they changed the policy to not bill until shipped. Thats what the description says also.
Personally, I want it charged now. I know they are overloaded and doing their best. Cant wait to try it out though..
 
I don't get how some are upset....if people wait, they're likely to say "no, I found other ammo" by the time delivery is available. To me, you pay when you order, or simply don't order....we all know there is significant delays right now. If the company had the supply or personal to deliver today, they would.

I can't with to shoo my m118 loads but it's only 200...a day of shooting if I want to have fun or a weekend if I take it easy. And that's if "I" just shoot. The last weekend my wife and I went, we shot 60-80 rounds and that was about 3hrs of shooting (was breaking in a barrel or it would have been more)

I think I'll go through the rest of the FGMM I've got...only about 100 rounds, reload those cases and keep the SW ammo for backup.

Your point is valid. I guess I just misread your intent.

I've just been watching a whole lot of whining and moaning over the amount of time it's taking to get orders filled and I disagree with that. Yes, I understand that's its hard to wait once you've ordered something, especially in this instant world of online sales and next day shipping. I also find it hard to wait. However, I also know that this is almost the only place I can get loaded match quality ammo today, anywhere. I imagine that's true for all of you also, or you'd be getting it elsewhere.

So what is a guy to do? Well, he will patiently and quietly wait until the ammo he ordered arrives at his door. And in the meantime, if he's smart, he places other orders while he's waiting so that he won't run out while waiting for the next package to arrive.

That's how I see it.

Oh, and yes my orders have taken more than 8 weeks to arrive also, but at least SWammo is still taking and filling orders.

My understanding is that the transaction will authorize the payment first, so it looks like it was debited. I do not get your money until I hit the apply payment button.

We are doing our best to get these out faster. I also have to work to keep the components coming in. I do not have big industrial machines that knock out 3500 rounds an hour, and reman ammo is all I am able to do for 556 right now so it takes more time, yes I could hire more people, but my prices would go up more, I do not want to do that. We have a good control right now on the situation. If I did not think we could get the job done, I would shut down the sales on the web store.

8 weeks behind for me is like 1 week behind for a much larger company.

I forgot to mention, our own 308 brass is shipping to us April 1. Pre-order is available on the web store, we only have 200,000 pieces coming this go around.

We picked up 80,000 110 vmaxes for 300 blkout, making and shipping daily.

Right. I was thinking about this today and it is just like a gas station or grocery store does. They ping your card to make sure that your transaction is authorized, then do the actual charge later on. If you have e-statements, you can see how this works. At times the authorization amount and the actual charge amount will both show on your card statement. This used to make me upset, as it can at times be holding both amounts in your balance before the authorization amount goes away.

I just wanted to say that I tried their ammo out and it's fantastic. The ammo is very accurate and consistent. Just waiting for my PM to get answered before I send some brass in.
 
Zach, thanks for my previous orders. I know you are making some changes and maybe I missed this somewhere, but your website is not showing many options in the various calibers. Are you only showing whats available or being run currently? I would like to place an order for 300BLK subs, but can't find them. Don't mind the wait, just want to get in line. Thanks.
 
I put the 300blk 220 subs back up. I have some to cover orders, but after I am out, I am out until mid April so the wait might be a bit.

Other stuff is just on hold until I can get some dates when things will show up.

We are currently running 308 at 24 hours. We do sell to many police departments, this sometimes delays orders an extra day.

260 ammo is 24 hours shipping in some cases same day depending on the time.

As some can see, we have removed some products from the store, this is temporary until we get completely caught up and can ship in a timely fashion.

We make the best, now it is time to speed up the shipping to be the best.

After trying emails, phone calls I get no response. I'm hoping this will get a response. You have my money. Where is my ammo? Order #2825.

Now my second post. A miracle happened. I got a very nice human on the phone and am getting a refund. I guess I'm happy.
 
jack rabbit, Good luck finding ammo like this anywhere else for their prices. Kinda quick on the jump aren't you? Maybe if you sue somebody they will sell you some ammo. Great approach.

Many of us have orders older than that one, and you know what? We actually get our ammo eventually. In case you hadn't noticed it's darn hard to find any 308 anywhere. It's also very hard for manufacturers to get components. Then throw in every Tom, Dick and Harry who ever owned a 308 panic buying 10,000 rounds or so, knowing it's near impossible to get. Then everyone wants it shipped yesterday, calls five times a day to bitch and whine and bully, expecting that will get an order out quicker.

Small manufacturers like SW Ammo don't have the volume capacity (and again, the availability of components) to keep up with this demand. And yet they keep plugging away at it. You should give them credit, not brickbats.

I hope you can settle down and realize that some things will take time in the current frenzied environment. And I hope you get some ammo without having to sue someone over it. Great first post. ;)
 
At time where no one can reliably find reasonably priced match ammo I'm happy to place my SW orders and know that I'm going to get the ammo. I have been very happy with the quality and accuracy of the ammo I have received. Personally I'm happy wait on an order knowing I'm going to receive it when it's ready.
 
Well said Lash! Jack Rabbit, I know your pain as I waited for my ammo but you will not regret it one you get it. Good luck finding match ammo at reasonable price.
