Soft steel would explain it. Good info. I'll have to remember not to try Schneider barrels. I'll probably get another Krieger when the time comes. I have had good results with this one to say the least.

I have installed a lot of Schneider barrels and spoken with him. He uses 416r just like everyone else and it doesn't machine any easier than a Krieger. I am not defending him. I don't even like him. If his barrels are not lasting its not because of the material.

The Schneider barrels I had sure did shoot well. Oddly, it was easier to get them to shoot well than some other barrels. I wouldn't want to steer anyone away from his barrels as I got them DAMNED hot in my 300 win mag. Often shooting 20-30 rounds in 3-5 minutes with a 300 win mag...that was actually abusing the barrels.

The one I sold second hand to my buddy is still shooting great. I put 950 through it, he had it set back one half inch, and has put 250-350 rounds through it since then, and it still shoots great.

Just got Varget, H4831, H110, Benchmark, and Trailboss at Sportsman's Warehouse in Silverdale.

I was just there and got 2 1lb cans of Varget. Nick told me the only 8lb can was already spoken for. So if you want them I would sudgest giving them a call and heading over fairly soon.

So here's the deal everyone. There was one solitary lonely 8lb jug of Varget... And I couldn't let it walk off with a hoarder or gouger.

I've tried to do my best to hook everyone up equally. I know of several people here who would gladly relieve me of it. To make it fair I've decided to have a 48hr lottery of sorts. Post up here if you want in on the lottery for it. The winner gets to buy it and has to pick it up from me locally or cover my travel cost to meet them. I'll draw the name from a hat on Wednesday.

I'm in Nick!

Also there's FGMM 175SMK in-stock. I can pick-up 3 boxes a day for as long as they're in-stock if anyone needs them. PM me if you're interested.

Please put my name in the hat. And thank you for picking that up.

Less than if you purchased it online and paid shipping and hazmat...

I also have 2#s of 4831 I picked up since we're limited to 2#'s a day and there was only a few pounds of it we got in. Is anyone interested or know anyone who would be interested in it?

You can put in me the Varget lotto... And price on as many 175 SMK as you can get your hands on (in a day)

Thanks

I still have two boxes of 308 168gr gold medal match I'd sell if some is in need. I can bring it to the match saturday.

If anybody has H4350 I'm willing to purchase or trade H4895 (8lb unopened jug). I need H4350 to get my .260 Remington off the ground.

I also have 1# containers of Varget if anyone is interested, but I paid a little more for it and live on the dry side. So if you're on this side of the state 1# of Varget for $27. If this will help anybody out.

I don't make anything on these, that's what I paid with shipping and Hazmat.

Can a regular person ship powder and primers provide they pay the hazmat fee?

Nope. You have to be hazmat certified. When you see people selling on Gunbroker theyr either a business with the cert or illegally shipping it which is why they say shipping is so cheap.

I have 200+ rounds of FGMM 175 SMK if anyone wants me to bring it to the July 6th... Thanks.

I don't need the ammo. But I do have a question. Does the friend your bringing to the match shoot? If so it might be sort of cool if she shot that day. After all it is a birthday.

Well.... she will be shooting after the match is over at some steel : ) I asked her after we left your place and she was seeming pretty excited to get to do that.

In 2011 I shot a 1,000y match at Blackwater (Acadami) and when my course of fire was done she got to shoot.... 10 ring, perfect elevation might I add : )

I'm good on varget but will be on the dry side next week if anyone needs me to pick this up from seekers i can (if he can meet between snoqualmie pass and the tri cities, that's the route I'm taking over).

Sounds like the kind of woman that belives in elimination rather then divorce... guess i know why your on such a short leash now...LOL

OK so i have a question. Am trying to decide between An eberstock Gunslinger II and an operator. I want enough pack to not be lacking but not so much i am carrying space i dont need for some of the larger matches on the east side. Any input and avice from experiance is more then welcome.

Steepdiver, I will recommend the X3 lo drag instead. I had been waiting for a GS II in coyote from Ceylon, bought my mother in law a x3 for hunting, realized it had ample room, so I picked one up as well. I bought the small accessory to hold my lrf, dope cards, etc separately. I can pack a lot in it, I posted a small review and some pictures in the equipment forum, will look for the link.

I have the Phantom... You've seen it, plenty big enough even for Bear hunting.

AND...

We do believe in 'til Death do us part... : ) She is a blessing and a good shot. In the words of her Grandfather "What are you thinking teachin' a woman to shoot and drive" lmao

So my buddy in another part of the country wasn't kidding when he said I had to come get an 8lb jug of 4350 he has sitting around....

I wouldn't mind being included in this as well.

Thanks,

Does anybody know a good AR smith in the Puget Sound? I need a pin and weld job done and some other work in the future. So if anyone knows of someone please let me know.

Thanks

I have a GSII you can check out at the next UNSC match. It has plenty of room for all of my stuff (maybe too much room) and I have not had a single issue with it yet.

+1

I've had several including the X3 and the GS2. From the needs you've given the X3 will fill the purpose.

I'm sure either Travis with Rbros or JD with HSSS can get you set-up.

I have been using the GS2 for a couple years now, both for hunting, & the odd match I can attend, & it holds more than I have ever needed to carry at one time. My 300WM, 2 water bladders, LRF, GPS, PDA, Kestrel, 150 rnds of ammo, first aid kit, trauma kit, survival equipment, etc. all in there, & it was all GTG. Had space for a little more if I needed, but it was plenty heavy already...

HA! what a 6.5 guy in for Varget?

If it makes anyone feel better, IF I happen to get my name drawn I will share... I dont need to have all 8lbs; only maybe 21,000 grains.

I also have a few other "mouths" to feed, not just 6.5 bores....although I am quite a fan of the 6.5 bores

But I'm backing out of the draw now in any case...every one else's odds just went up.

eberlestock X3

Steepdiver: I have the Eberlestock X3 Low Drag and I really like it. I'm pretty tall, so I purchased the extra-long shoulder straps which did help the fit significantly. I'd say it will do just about anything you want and the size is just about right. You obviously want the weight on your hips, and they have a very good design just for that purpose. As far as fitting a lot, it won't, but you aren't planning on camping overnight are you? You can buy much larger, heavier packs that will take along your tent, pad and kitchen sink. For me, with a 12lb gun, ammo, water, a super light shooting mat, gloves, headlamp, some insulation clothes, a snack, bug stuff, binoculars, rangefinder, gps, and a first aid kit was just about all I can carry up a hill on a hunt without heart failure. I already start cursing at myself for buying such a heavy rifle after about the first couple of hours. On my 7 day elk hunt in New Mexico last year, I ended up not wearing the pack after the first day. I found a quality fanny pack filled with the gear was better for climbing along with the rifle shouldered using the sling. Going up/down boulders, loose ground, steep side hills, etc. was difficult with all that rifle behind me, but easier when I could swap sides, shoulders, etc. and move it wherever. The full sized pack mostly got in the way, but I still love the thing.

And the winner is...

Much praise to Nick for giving so many of "us" a chance at a highly valued commodity. It would have been much easier for him to let it be sold wherever fate dictated, but rather than doing that, he thought to help out his friends.

"Good on 'ya" as the Aussies say.
