Talking to a buddy of mine at work the other day about transport laws in different states and he turned me onto an app for CCW. They make it for iPhone and Android. Pretty comprehensive app showing reciprocity, transport laws, prohibited places and much more. The best part to me is the fact that when you click on say Alabama transport law, it shows you the actual statute, not someone's interpretation. Well worth the 1.49 for Android and .99 on iPhone.

Does it automatically update when the laws change? Many of those laws seem to change almost by the minute.

CCW phone apps

Does the app provide easy access to the firearms laws of the state you are carrying in?

Because Michigan has reciprocity with all states that allow CCW, so an app that simply tells me what states have reciprocity is of limited use.

What most people need, whether they know it or not, is an app that will tell them when/ where/ how the carry laws differ in a destination state, and what are the laws relevant to self defense where they are currently located.

It always you to view each states law. But doesn't tell you the differences. It also outlines prohibited locations.

Does it point out that when driving through D.C. you can be arrested if you have an EMPTY shell casing in your car?

Cartman- it shows reciprocity (none in this case it is a ccw app after all). In general the app shows some of the specific areas allowed / not allowed, ie resteraunts serving alchol, roadside rest areas, state parks, state forest, and wildlife management areas. It covers state specific transport laws, prohibited areas, duty to inform officer statutes, premption rules, signage laws, permit info, AG and State police contact info, open carry info, fed transport laws, and fed prohibited locations plus it gives links to state statutes....

All and all worth the small price I paid........

I hear you, and I wasn't trying to make the app look bad. I was just underscoring the new revelation that while most people are worried about whether they're going to get in trouble carrying concealed in the wrong place, we now need a warning about crazy places where you can be busted for having an empty case in your car. We now need an app for that crap too.

One of the things I like about the app is it tells you the when/where/how to carry. It has the statutes not interpretations. It also tell you on each state's page if you can carry in state forest, state park, management areas, roadside rest areas, and restaurants serving alcohol.
Here is a screenshot of Alabama screen:

We already know the retard zones and those have a brickwall around them in my GPS, truck will not navigate through them!

Yep. Especially if it told you how to interact with law enforcement. The one time I carried outside of my home state, I ended up in contact with law enforcement. It was a pretty crazy situation. My friend and I were going to a match and camping out the night before (because we're poor, and camping was the best way to mitigate costs.) Long story short, a crazy man appeared from the lake we were by and claimed he'd tried to commit suicide and wanted us to call "the law" to pick him up. Yeah, it was quite the event. We calmed him down, got him to put down his beating stick (dude had a 4 foot long stick for some reason), and to talk.

After 4 cop cars, 3 ambulances and couple of volunteers showed up, I finally had to talk to law enforcement officially. (I had spoken to the fist officer on scene but it was a quick briefing, "This guy showed up all wet, claimed to have tried to kill himself. Good luck, we'll be waiting over here." The LEO obviously wanted to get to the dude, so I didn't hassle him with my stuff at that point.) Thankfully, I had printed out and read the applicable laws for the state, so when the officer approached me to talk (after the crazy man had been taken into custody), I gave him my DL and CHL. To which he said, "You have you gun on you?" I said, "Yes, sir I do." He said, "Well, so long as you don't shoot me, I won't shoot you." We made out a statement/report and went to sleep.

Funny part of the story, is that I delayed our leaving by about 20 minutes because I insisted on getting the laws for the state we were going to. Having a legitimate app would be great.
