The Remington triggers I have had can either be adjusted down to about 2.5-3 pounds and be quite nice, or they are total crap, and won't even get close to a nice trigger. The ones I have had are at one extreme or the other, with apparently, nothing in between.

I had a Remington hunting rifle that I tried adjusting, and it would work great at about 4.25 pounds; if I tried going any lower, it got REALLY mushy and I couldn't tell where it would break. I would prefer a consistent 4.25 pounds over that kind of mushy any day..at least the 4.25 pounds was consistent and predictable.

Actually, if there's one thing I want to replace on that rifle, it's the action. The barrel shoots lights-out (Benchmark), the trigger is actually quite good (Rifle Basix), and the stock is an AICS 2.0,... it's just the action that stinks - it won't feed 10-rounds consistently without nose-diving a few into the feed ramp, and doesn't like ejecting empties OUT of the ejection port,... it needs some serious massaging that I have yet to get done,...

Agree with you Alan,... I've had a few Remington triggers that seemed to be fine - a little on the heavy side, but nice and crisp break. Others had all-kinds of creep and inconsistent break-weights - very frustrating.

I was thinking that maybe you needed a new tool to extend your effective range just a little further. So I would prob. get you either a custom 338 Lapua or hell who dosen't need a 50 Cal, right. So I will wrap it up with a pretty bow and send it your way. How's that sound?

I recieved my Vortex Viper 20-60X80 spotter today. It was a real pain to get the neoprene cover on it but once it was on its all good. Mounted it on my tripod, & glassed an apartment complex @ 890yd. It was gloomy, & off & on rain but I was able to read the "dish" sign on a satellite dish on 60X. I could even make out the dot on the "I". It was angled about 45* from me but I could see it. Even with my less than stellar eyes. I should have plenty of time to check it out looking for deer in the canyons of Bethel Ridge during hunting season. I'm leaving next Thursday for 3 1/2 weeks. My only complaint with the scope so far is its size. Its 17.5" long. Hope I can figure a way to carry it in the field. But I'll figure that out later. Too much to do before I leave.

OK, I am building a super awesome Barricade/shoothouse. IT IS HUGE! and heavy......

I need some help. Here are a couple pictures to get you an idea of what I am doing.

***I need help figuring out what shoot holes/ports, and where to put them on this thing. On the entire unit, I would like to have at least 12-15 places to shoot from. I also have a tire I can use so I would like to get that in there somewhere. Standard car tire

If it would be possible, can you draw out something on paper, take a picture of it, and post it back so I can look at it. I would love your ideas.

Looking at the back of the unit, I am going to put a staircase going up the left side to the first platform. Then, going to the second level, I will put another staircase on the right side of the first platform. And the entire front is one solid sheet of wood, so nothing is open yet.

We used only the best wood possible, everything is Pressure treated wood, and used Stainless Steel bolts with high quality coated decking screws.
The unit is 12 feet wide, 10 feet tall, and 6 feet deep, But I am only using 4 feet deep with the platform. so it is BIG. platforms are 2x8 with 3/4" decking

What you guys think?

Jake you can also drop cut all the holes with a skill saw and finish them up with a handsaw or jig saw so that you still have the cut outs for each hole.
Screw a few metal tabs on either side of the cutouts and you can fill the hole back in if you want to change up the design down the road. Just put the cut out back in the slot turn the tabs so that their locking the cut out in place and tighten the screws to keep the tab from spinning.

Hey Shooters,
I'm typing one handed so I have to keep it short. PRS concerns, UNSC should be the venue, but as a club we can shoot a match any where. KevinD and unkown all ready run a solid match and the scoring system tet use is perfect. PRS will not dictate how the matches are run. It would add a layer of stress on the PRS members every one else would be there for fun just like before.
It would put the quality match and shooters at UNSC on the map (big picture)

If anyone is doing an AR15 build and needs a used rifle length tube forend, let me know. I'll soon be swapping out the forend currently on a rifle that has 4 full length rails on it and exchanging it for different one. Sure, it is used, but it works well. If you are active duty military, or law enforcement, it is free. For anyone else, swap something or PIF to someone here..I realize it isn't worth much, and I more realistic than greedy.

The tube is a Yankee Hill float tube with ventilation ovals between the railed sections. Overall it is in great condition. I did put in an extra hole for a sling swivel.

This offer is for the folks in the local Washington/Oregon shooting groups because I'm trying to keep it local.

If the ports are designed as mirror images of each other on either side, the left/right issue is easily over come. I specifically designed the ports in the doghouse I recently built to deal with that issue. The current design shown above would only need three more ports to make everything equal for right/left. A high and low portal on the left side, and a round window to the left side of the tire. Otherwise, most of the ports are already balanced nicely.

I know its heavy but on the plywood side its a pretty good sail to tip in that direction, That and if its anchored it can also double as the cargo netting climb and shoot stage.

Was not planning on anchoring in any way, its just too heavy for me to worried about that,

plus, I will have roughly 10 1 foot holes in it, so if anything, the wind will go through those. And I am setting it cross ways so the wind will just hit it from the side.

I hope I'm not jumping the gun here too much, but I just got a new piece of kit from PRS. I bought a PRS medium tripod with hogs saddle, & while talking to Dan he mentioned a Molle scabbard for his tripods that he's just started to offer. He hasn't got them on the site yet as far as I know. Its formed in a triangle with Molle on the back for attaching to packs, etc, & has 3 hooks/bands to secure the top closed. He's offering them in most of the tacticool colors, & it is well made. It came with the straps, & saddle fully assembled, ready to mount. I mounted it on my GS2 with the saddle on , but I could leave the spotter on it folded down likewise as well, but decided that was too risky for where I'll be hunting in a few days. Here are a few pics.

I'll be carrying this for the next 3 weeks hunting for deer, elk, bear, & cougar so I will have some more info on its durability, etc. when I get back. I did decide after mounting it on the pack that I didn't like it there, so I moved it to the other side, & closer to the front. I may even figure where to set the center post up so I can rest the rifle on the saddle while I'm stalking to take the weight off my shoulder sometimes. We'll see in the next few days.

There is alot of great kit, and useful stuff to carry while hunting. I always found myself reducing all the stuff I "could" take, and even with just the stuff I "had" to take, I still felt overloaded. I eventually got down to a reasonably lightweight rifle, day pack, water, binos, and a couple of knives. For those who can carry the extra gear, it is great to have it along.

Just a heads up, I was over at JD's (hsss) getting some work done on one of my rifles, and he has 5 LA Rem 700 Manners Stocks up for grabs. I know Manners stocks are hard to come by it seems lately and figured someone here might be looking. If I recall correctly 2 light tan Folder T4 mini chassis and 3 Dark tan/FDE standard BDL T4s. Dont know to sure what hes asking but I am pretty sure its under what Manners has listed.


Good luck to all the hunters tomorrow morning, I got stumped for archery this year so far. Hopefully I can hit up a late season.
