I have this old Kimber Warrior I bough right out of college, Ive shot the crap out of it, and its never failed me. That being said, it came with that terrible KimPro finish which is basically a shitty excuse for Krylon. I want to find a smith who can take my gun and give it an old school deep mirror blue. I havent seen too many rail guns in blue, and i think it would be a cool idea. Does anyone still do a real blue like the finish on my colt trooper from the 60's? I have also been kicking around the idea of stripping off the finish, buffing the steel to a mirror like finish, slapping on some fau-ivory grips and calling it the Tijuana Pimp.

I have a harem of 1911s, Wilson and nighthawk being the bulk of the collection. Wilson uses turnbull and baron tech. Turnbull is old school charcoal blue and will cost you a fortune. Baron is salt blue and is what you are describing. If your metal work is highly polished it will cost you $40 for the frame and $40 for the slide at baron. If they have to do metal work, the price increases rapidly. Contact Tom Lent at Baron.
