Announcing the new Applied Ballistics Website

The ballistics utility page allows you to run Weapon Employment Zone (WEZ) analysis to calculate your hit percentage for your rifle under various uncertainty environments. You can also save off profiles for transferring to the Applied Ballistics Kestrel or to order a custom Whiz Wheel.

Also check out the free articles and bullet data sheets.

There's a lot on there I think you guys will be interested in.

Let me know if anyone has any comments on the operation of the site, it's brand-new!

Thanks,
-Bryan

How about updating atrag bloody scam having sheled out for kestrel with Horus don't see any one updating that. What are we supposed to do ditch it and spend annother. £600 ????

This is an awesome resource -- Ty.

Will there be downloads/updates available directly on the website for the Kestrels?

Currently the Kestrel software utility downloads (upgrade and profile manager software) are available where AB Kestrel units are sold, here for example: Kestrel With Applied Ballistics (go under 'whats inside').

It might be a good idea to put these downloads with the web calculator as well. The easier they are to get to, the better.

Kestrel has an exchange program for going from the Horus to AB model. I think it's something like you send in your Horus version which Kestrel donates to AmericanSnipers.org, and $100 and they send you a new AB model. Don't quote me on that, I'm not sure it's correct. If you're interested in exchanging your Horus for an AB model, email me and I'll put you in touch with a Kestrel rep. Also, here's the direct line to Kestrel if you want to go straight to them: Call NK 800-784-4221

I have what may seem to be a really stupid question...Per the website calc:

In the differentiation between 300wm and 308 - Are we strictly using fps or are we using BC+FPS?

My Kestrel is giving me a different # is all and I know the hand-math will be almost on with the Kestrel...Maybe I've just gone full retard and I'm doing something wrong, which is always very possible.

I'm not sure I understand your question....

Any decent ballistic solution accounts for MV and BC as entirely separate things. A bullet with a given BC can be fired at any velocity, and the ballistic program accounts for that.

If that doesn't help, please elaborate on your question.

Thanks,
-Bryan

Found my problem.

Was off by @ 50fps @ 1k and 30-40ft/lbs but, it seems to be a humidity thing.

Now that the kestrel is set, they're only 2-3 ft apart.

Was scratching my head because it was a 2-3 moa difference but, yep, just being special.

Thanks, sir.

Could you offer the AB app for my iPhone? BTW I like the cleaner look of the website and calculator. Great stuff!

I noticed an oops on the calculator results page. The wind direction comes out as wind speed and in mph, not o'clock. :-/. Also I prefer inches and MOA or inches and Mil, but no biggie. .....Carl

Glock,

Thanks for the heads up on the wind units, we'll get that fixed asap.

The request for an iOS version of AB Mobile is very common, and I'm happy to say we're getting close. Here's some screenshots of the test version:

<img src="http://69.195.124.135/~appliem5/Images/four.png"><img src="http://69.195.124.135/~appliem5/Images/five.png">

We're mostly done with development and in the process of registering the app with apple. The timeline for approval of new apps is unclear, but expected at several weeks.

Take care,
-Bryan

Thanks, Bryan, I will be watching for the I-OS version also. Will you be announcing its launch on SH when it is available?

Also, will it have an option to use locational atmospheric data similar to Ballistic AE----as in integrating with the location services of the phone and using the current location's atmospheric data by hitting the location button on the screen?

Your hyperlink just seems to go out to never never land. I am looking forward to the I-Phone Ap.

Link is down again. Address appears to be resolved but the index page is not being displayed. No errors are displayed...just a blank screen.

We are making some minor changes to the web site and the DNS servers - we should be back up online shortly.

All DNS server issues should be addressed.... be sure to refresh your browsers or clear your cache if needed.

Thanks!
