I was 8 years old, and it was my first year in the USA. Somehow, for no reason whatsoever (my guess before confirming it is, she was a German immigrant and wanted to do what she saw as the most Team USA thing to do at that particular time), my mother decides that its time for an epic adventure and that we all needed to pile in the car to go and find the nearest Hands Across America location.
I remember it was mass chaos and people everywhere, and I didn't really understand the point. I was also confused why you paid to stand on the side of the road. But as soon as I looked over and saw there was this 16ish year old hottie chick next to me when it was time to hold hands - it ALL made sense and I fucking loved America.
Anyone else do this? Technically, we were holding hands at some point
