I was 8 years old, and it was my first year in the USA. Somehow, for no reason whatsoever (my guess before confirming it is, she was a German immigrant and wanted to do what she saw as the most Team USA thing to do at that particular time), my mother decides that its time for an epic adventure and that we all needed to pile in the car to go and find the nearest Hands Across America location.

I remember it was mass chaos and people everywhere, and I didn't really understand the point. I was also confused why you paid to stand on the side of the road. But as soon as I looked over and saw there was this 16ish year old hottie chick next to me when it was time to hold hands - it ALL made sense and I fucking loved America.

Anyone else do this? Technically, we were holding hands at some point

funny when you were arriving here looking at the American hottish girsl I was in Germany banging the shit out of so so many hot assed big tittded German chicks, big ones, tall ones, fat one s. small ones, skinny ones, big boned ones, I fucked my dick raw, while drinking the best beer in the world. Man I first tittie fiucked a girl in Wurzburg Germany, it was good , she had nice German pillows, with nice raddish type nipples. Fk I had a good yute.

Yeah, Army... if I was a 20-something today, I'd be heading to Berchtesgaden and I wouldn't leave until I had myself a blonde hottie getting on the plane home with me. The talent in that place is eye-popping! Wasn't the top-heavy Bier-hall-frau St. Pauli girls... it was the athletic little mountain climbers, skiers and, no doubt, figure skaters... great grand-daughters of SS officers and Wehrmacht colonels, no doubt. Hubba hubba!

As for hands across America... I remember that waste of time. I even know what I was doing when they held "Hand across America." I was working my ass off at a summer construction job to pay for college. For me it was "Hands over the 2 x 4."

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

Ah, yes, a vintage yea, 1986. As a stonemasonry contractor I piled up a lot of rocks that year.

And let me ofter you a 40 year late "Welcome to America" youngster.

So who's going to be the one to tell AJ that Wurzburg is the tranny capital of Europe...

Back in '86 I graduated high-school, and worked all summer as a teacher/instructor. WAY TOO YOUNG to be put in the position of leading "developmentally challenged individuals".... believe me.

I don't know what the bosses were thinking.... let alone the 'clients'.

God what a fantastic time to come to America.

The world still made sense; Ronnie and Maggie were the dynamic duo; Gorby was was dragging the Soviets towards the light with Glastnost and Perestroika, and it was just plain GOOD to be an American.

How many any of us look back at what our internal divisions used to be and laugh and cry at the same time?

Gents we live in interesting times but no place like what we have here. one thing I figured out long ago, when the shit trends down here it gets exponentially worse everywhere else, that is one reason am am a radical, I know there is nowhere else to go. APOG,.based on my recent travels I would put Prague and London as the trans capitals of Europe based upon looks of the chicks/men on the club scene, not of interest to me but just letting you know so you dont waste time looking for companions in central Germany..

And German, a belated welcome, the German contingent of our country is strong, the biggest group actually, they are hard working smart people. When I lived in Europe I would joke with my German friends that our Germans beat their Germans asses twice, and my Brit friends that our Brits beat their Brit asses once.

Speaking of memories, I was sitting in my car at lunch woofing a piece of cheap pizza and the William Tell Overture came on the radio. When the trumpet blast came, all of a sudden I was 6 years old again, sitting in front of a b&w tv, watching a firey white stallion rear up and a masked man shoot his gun. It was so real for a split second.....

ah Jerry me ol' china. If you were truly traveled you'd have learned long ago 'tis a folly to try and tell arse from quim when they're both just as warm within... :)

    Kim Petras... Wurzburg...

    I'd still hit it....

And Bogey, you are right. 1986 was an awesome time to be an American! Though, IMHO, still is! And then some!

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

Shit, I would have totally been fooled by that.

Thanks for the welcome guys lol I went back a few times, family is still there, went to University there and then got drafted into civil service and doubled down on stupid and re-upp'd so I could go from bullshit work to mountain infantry. Ah to be young and stupid again. But I did come back eventually :D

Can you imagine if they tried to do a Hands Across America now? I don't know if it would be awesome, or if it would really show us how far we've fallen.

Just got home from shooting and heading out for some cold beer to wash the indoor-range taste out of my mouth. Gonna hit the jukebox and play "99 Luftballons" just for you, German version of course. One great 80's German hit deserves another.

    Probst brother.

I loved that song! One of the few 'pop' songs I ever actually liked. I was more into Skynyrd and The Doors.... But for some reason I liked Nena.

Maybe it was the big hair. Or that little Westphalia overbite... but I wanted to do things to her... dirty things. :p

And now I have Come on Eileen and The Safety Dance stuck in my head, too.

Damn you 1980's... Damn you all to hell...

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

Exactly Sir, and if you google her Nena is still hot.
one of my favorite things to do in Indonesia (which is packed full of Aussie expats) is to get some of the local Indo cover bands to play Safety Dance and Land Down Under.
We have a blast listening to the locals sing the Aussie bands because they have learned to mimic the accent brilliantly.

Im at the bar now, have my next playlist on the juke thanks to Sirhr.

Edit: LMAO, been listening to Safety Dance since the May Pole video on MTV and just now realized they're Canadian. Why does it sound like they have an Aus accent to me? I think maybe because Men Without Hats and Men at Work had a very similar sound in their music. I'm an idiot

86, ahhhhh yes good ole 86. Was on my second hitch, enjoying my last year on shore duty. Kick'n it with a small spook det on Homestead AFB, and feeling the pucker power of a huge investigation (Walker Scandal) due to almost all CT's having handsome SRB's and being watched like hawks regarding spending habits. Guess ya had to be there, but it was epic.
    Now party on Brother Bogey.
