Anyone have a picture of the AX in the Dark Earth color. Ive seen photos listed Dark Earth but in each picture the color was not the same
Here's a couple pics of my new sage green AXMC 300WM 24" that I ordered from Jason at Euro Optic. I also got the 308 conversion bolt, mag adapter and a 26" 243 barrel. I'm planning on picking up a 20" 308 barrel as well.
I had concerns with how it would feed and run with the short action stuff but spoke to one of the AI team shooters before purchasing and he said it's good to go and I'd never notice a difference from my SA AX once I shoot it. He was right. It runs and feeds buttery smooth just like every other AI.
What surprised me a bit however is how well it runs single fed. A lot of rifles will have the bullet hang up on the back of the tennon, but there are no issues at all in this with the little 243. I ran it probably 500 rounds last night with some dummy rounds which 100 or so we're just tossing the round in the open chamber and it didn't hang up once.
So far I've only ran 20 rounds through it with the 300 barrel the night I got it but the target picture is the 5 round group I shot with some cheap hunting loads I picked up at Walmart. The flyer was all me on shot #3 but 4 rounds went though one ragged hole when I didn't screw up. I'll be shooting the 215gr Berger Hybrid for 300WM but I just had to shoot it.
It doesn't weigh noticeably more than the SA version and the balance is perfect with the 5-25 Mil-C Nightforce ATACR F1.
If you're looking for one rifle to do it all you can't go wrong with an AXMC.

Does the 308 bolt conversion have to come fitted from factory? Or can it just be bought at a later date along with the mag adapter? If you would, I'd love a ballpark estimate for the conversion parts. Thanks! AI envy here! Have an AI/AT in 308/6.5Creedmoor, love it. All my other rifles are very nervous as they may be sold to get a second AI, they are so smoooooth.
Having trouble finding the conversion kit (thought I saw it offered at a retailer), but all the parts are available as separate part numbers: the 308 complete bolt or bolt body and firing pin, magwell, etc.

They're set from the factory for headspace so you can add bolts and barrels as needed. It's always a good idea to check headspace though.

Got a good day of practice in yesterday. After confirming zeroes and velocity i practiced 8 different positions and mock stages with 5 rounds each out to 567yds. Probably going to stick with this as my practice routine.

If you are talking about the portion of the barrel that is not cerakoted the answer is no.
Would a 308 barrel also be needed? Or would the 300WinMag barrel work?

Lovely rifle. trying to justify such a purchase. I hunt with a 300WinMag so I am all set to load for it What are your plans for the rifle. How much more do you think it offers over a 308 vis a vis increased costs of shooting?Have an AI/AT and was looking at a multi calibre AXMC 300WM/308 set up but..... really hard pressed to see utility of the 300WM. Few places around me where I can shoot beyond 600yds without driving several hundred miles. Mostly shoot at my club which has range out to 600yds.

Kujuak, my plans for this rifle is to take it out to a mile and maybe beyond if I can find a longer range. I have a 28 Nosler and 6.5 CM barrel coming for it as well. All it will probably ever see is steel though. I have a lightweight rifle that I use for hunting. This thing is way too heavy to lug around the woods!

Thanks for the reply. When you add barrels you will need to add a bolt for the non magnum calibers plus magazine adapter , right? Do you plan to send it back to manufacturer or dealer for that or just do it yourself. When I looked into this the price of the extra "bits" was of sufficient magnitude to make me inclined to get the whole package from the factory as a factory fitted/checked package for my peace of mind . Am I being untrusting of AI's precise manufacturing prowess? The smaller calibre kits would have small rifle primer bolt?
I am in the process of ordering the .300 and .308 bolt bodies and the mag adapter today. I will move the firing pin assy. from bolt to bolt. As far as the 6.5 Creed goes, I am sticking with the large firing pin for now. I chose to go thru a custom Smith for my barrels. I have had great luck with Travis from TS Custom for "aftermarket" barrels, so I will continue to use him for the AI barrels as well. I am not sending it back to AI to be fitted. I think it should pretty much be "plug and play" when it all comes in. I hope that answers all your questions.

Update: Got a chance to stretch the .300 Norma out to 1000. This barrel is extremely accurate! Shot a .2" 5 shot group at 100, then went right out to 1000 and shot just under 1/2 moa. Wind was pushing it around a little. Had a bad case of primer flow though, so the bolt was next day aired to Speedy Gonzales for bushing. Hopefully have it back this week and back to shooting next week.

Can someone tell me what SPHUR all the guys running full rail AX Chassis are using, I am looking at a ususal 34mm 56mm bell optic like normal flagship 5-25 type optics.......I was looking at 4002 but just wanted to double check so I dont loose another 1-2 weeks flipping mounts.

Can you still run Tenebraex flip caps with the Spuhr SP-4006?
There is that not much space left between the objective and rail.
Mile High states minimum 1.46" to run Tenebraex caps and 1.34" for Butler Creek.

About to buy an AXMC and looking to stock up on reloading kit for 308 practice barrel. Since AI is kinda the benchmark of consistency I figured it would make more sense to ask for the recipe that everyone else is running with their AI 308 barrels instead of wasting components doing load development. What is everyone shooting through their 10 twist factory AI 308 barrels?

IF it is an S&B 5-25x56 and your AI rail is 30 MOA you will get the most out of the optic if you get a 4302 w/3 mils or 10.3 MOA
My 24" AINA 10 twist .308 barrel (a Bartlein I'm told) likes 42.5 grains behind a 175 SMK with CCI BR2 primer.
Out of my 20" 308 I'm running 44gr varget in Win Brass under a 175 SMK. CCI Mag primer.
Anybody else have problem with AX pistol grip? I was desperate, for my hand is extremely uncomfortable... And I have Ergo grips on other rifles... Sooo, I had to cut the AI grip and replace it by the same Ergo grip, as I have on other rifle. Now I am happy
