I have used Shooter as well, out past a mile , first round hits! Great app

I feel TRASOL is a superior app, it just needs some love. I agree it should be rocking and rolling when it was first released. Shooter had some issues when it was first released though. So its expected

I will let DT know you won't be investing , we can find others. ?

I'm running TRASOL on 3 different android devices (Motorola Turbo, Samsung Note8, and Google Nexus), and the app works great. I'm still able to save profiles and settings on all devices, then sync to the other. It's still as accurate as can be without having to true anything.

I don't use the HUD at all, so I can't speak for that functionality.

Hopefully DT will pick this up to continue fix the issues a bunch of people are and to continue development.
 
PSA:

I heard Frank (Lowlight) mention on the recently released Everyday Sniper Podcast (#60) that Desert Tech has recently hired a s/w developer and will begin to support the TRASOL application once again.

Here's hoping to see working versions of the app on a wider range of platforms starting within a few months time.

Hopefully this will pan out. First on the list, after the bugs get fixed, should be Bluetooth support for Kestrel and WeatherFLOW.

There is a bug that reduces my confidence in Shooter. If you use Density Altitude, (instead of barometric pressure and temperature) changing the temperature changes the solution ... even when MV Variation is zero.

It's really good software, last week I shot with my 375 Chey Tac, the program said 18 mil elevation to 1980 meters and I hit the target at the first shot, in my opinion is more reliable than applied ballistic. It would be interesting if he worked with the Kestrel....
 
DT must have pulled their tech support people to work on the MDR program, cause it's the only thing more f'd than TRASOL. Reloaded it on my S8 and TRASOL went from being f'd to just not opening. Too bad, it used to be great, just like DT.

Do you feel like the MDR ruined DT or DT was going down the pipe before the MDR flop?

They have a lot of money backing them up. What was killing them was the MDR was completely redesigned from when they originally showed it at SHOT. They over promised and under delivered. It became an engineering nightmare.

So resources were pulled and all the focus was on saving their reputation and cash flow
 
Anyone have any further intel on the new developer hired to update TRASOL and when there might be an update to fix some of the current problems?

Problems like not being able to open it at all? I loaded up the app on my Samsung s9 and all I get is the opening page.

Rover31, too bad you didn't stumble across this thread before purchasing TRASOL. Latest version(s) haven't worked on iPhones for months and months now!

It is a real bummer because it was actually a pretty good app when it worked. Hoping Desert Tech will support it again... unfortunately, to my knowledge, Desert Tech has not made any public commitment to provide bug fixes, maintenance updates, or added future functionality. As of today, there does not appear to be any credible support for this app from any source.

The fact that it’s even still in the Apple store for anything other than free is a disgrace.

TacticalDillhole, I completely agree with you on above point! Having a non working TRASOL app for sale on the Apple store is likely hurting Desert Tech's reputation at this point way more than it is helping it. IMO, they should pull the app from the store until they can at least make it functional.

From what you say, it might work OK on an Android platform?
I am currently running a Samsung Galaxy S5 (old tech...) but due an upgrade in Oct. (probably S9)
Can you tell me what Android platform you are running, please?
I also have a Galaxy Tab S2 (?) do you think it will run on that platform?
I just dont want to download if its not going to work. That would be $10 wasted that I could spend on something that actually DOES work...

I ran a S5 perfectly fine. I'm running the S9 now and it works perfectly if you follow my previous posts. I love this app now that it works. You will be fine and you will enjoy the S9 over the 5.

Could reason it still works for you be the iOS and TRASOL app versions running on your iPod and iPad have not been updated to the most current iOS and TRASOL software? My old iPhone 5 running a prior version of TRASOL than what you can now download from the Apple store still works!

I believe most issues have been due to TRASOL not keeping up with the Apple updates. It seems every Apple app needs refreshing in order to continue working and stay compatible with each successive iOS release. TRASOL is now several generations behind Apple releases.
 
11.4.1 on my iPod. Yeah Trasol is definitely way behind, that is them, not Apple.
Sucks for the iPhone folks. Hoping DT does starts updating this awesome app.
 
Still works on my old iPhone. I kept it around just to use as a ballistic solver. I think it's an old iPhone 5 or something. But this is just ridiculous. We should all get refunds for this BS.

Hmm... I have and old iPhone I use for music! Um yeah same problem... hey I have an old iPad (version 9.3.5) and nope!
So I think if it is working you are gtg, me not so much.

On the good news front I did get an email from Desert Tech and they of course directed me back to Apple for a refund... here's to hoping I can get a refund from a corporate giant...
 
I just tried the new 2.0 version, but I couldn’t get very far with it because it would not restore my previous purchase. Not sure if that’s an Apple issue or a Trasol issue.
 
Same issue, it would not restore my purchase from last year, I already paid for the full app and it shows in my purchase history.

First of all, we’re very excited to introduce TRASOL 2.0 for iOS — a brand new release long in the works. The app has been completely re-written from the ground up, with a long list of new features and improvements that we think you’re going to love.

I won’t go into all of the details here, but one important piece of information is this: TRASOL is now available as a FREE download for all iOS users! This means that anybody can test out the software on their iPhone for free, and upgrade later to unlock advanced features. We think this is a great opportunity for new users to give it a shot.

Awesome news... very happy to hear TRASOL may be on the road to recovery. I will be eagerly waiting for the all clear to be given on the glitch being experienced by prior paying customers before I do the refresh.

We've identified the issue preventing upgrades for some people, and have submitted a fix to the App Store. You should see an update containing the fix within 24-48 hours, tops.

I really hope this happens super quick have a match tomorrow and my app is stuck on my trainer. ?
 
Collin, will the fix be coming via the normal Apple Store auto update channel or should we just delete the previous version 1.2.3 install and then download the 2.0 version in another 24-48 hours?
 
@pell1203 The update will come through the App Store like normal. I’d recommend keeping the current version on your phone, and then update once the fix is available (hopefully tomorrow).

We are pretty happy with Trasol 2.0. We had to do a complete rewrite to fix the glitches in the old ap. The new ap is many times better and more stable, restores your data from the cloud, and doesn't drain your battery anymore. It also has more intuitive controls, we improved the algorithm, and we pushed it out to 5000 yards! It will be a while before Android 2.0 is out but like Collin has said we haven't forgotten about it just set it on the back burner to focus on higher priority items.

so i can't restore my last purchase i see its in the workings. for the account do we use our existing username and password for the account or do we create a new one?
