Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Rimfire Bolt Action

Slick rig! I'm getting jealous of all the guys who've bought PRS1 stocks for their V-22s - nothing wrong with the T4A Elite on mine, but would like a lighter weight rifle, and feel the PRS1 would probably knock at least another half-pound off. I like your choice of scope - I had a late pre-BTR on mine, but sold it to a customer, so had to replace it with a BTR. Have pre-BTR Cronus scopes on the 40X & 40XB repeaters too, and have really enjoyed shooting with these scopes.

Thank you! I had it sitting in my MPA while I was waiting on the manners and i was hoping it would lose a significant amount of weight when i made the switch, its definitely much better now, though it doesn't balance quite as naturally. It had to have lost at least 2lbs though.

The Cronus is on loan to me from a friend right now so i can shoot a match i have this weekend, while i wait on the Ares ETR i ordered. I think this scope is a great value, i cant tell much a difference between the glass quality of my Razor Gen II that lives son my center fire. Seeing the rifle put together with the cronus is making me wonder if i made the the right choice with the Brown colored Ares ETR I ordered.

I ordered one of each brown & matte black ETR scopes. Got the brown one a couple of weeks ago & mounted it on my 40XB repeater in a Manners T4A in woodland camo - it looked ok, with the bbl'd action done in a mix of McM OD/McM tan. Would probably look better with a coat of air dry burnt bronze on the TPS TSR rings, but that will have to wait until I make an order to NIC to re-stock my supply of CeraKote. If you're unhappy with the appearance of your brown ETR, my guess is that you'd be able to peddle it without much trouble, and get a matte black one coming. I've still got the matte black ETR, but may have it sold...

If that brown in your photo is accurate, thats a lot more attractive than i had anticipated. I think it will look fine between all the black and teal

I don't have a Vortex Gen I or Gen II Razor to compare the brown ETR to, and it's been awhile since I've seen one up close, so can't comment on that. But based on memory of what the Vortex scopes' color anodizing looked like, I'm going to say the ETR has more of a bronze tint than either of them. That's why I'm thinking to use air dry burnt bronze on the rings. I took the above photo with the Nikon D5000's flash unit, so the colors on my monitor look pretty true. Regardless of the color match, I'd be willing to bet that you're going to like the Ares ETR. I've yet to shoot a match with mine, so don't know how the open center/dot reticle is going to work on steel that's been shot a bunch since it was painted. But if there's much mirage, or you're shooting several targets spread out over an area, you're going to have the magnification set down around 10x-16x, and won't be seeing the floating dot anyway. In that case, the open center of the reticle will make a good aiming point, so dot or no, it won't be an issue. The glass on mine is very, very close to at least as good as the Cronus I first compared it to, though that was the oldest Cronus I own. Need to get back down to the range with that older Cronus, a newer pre-BTR Cronus, and the BTR Cronus I have on my V-22 to get a better idea how the ETR's glass compares to the Cronus.

How do you like that ARCA rail?

It’s nice, it’s an area 419 one. My preference is for the ingenuity gunworks rail though and I will be sending the stock to manners after my match this weekend to be inlet for one, I’ll orobably sell the arca after that.

The voodoo shoots the CCI SV great, it is just a little tight when closing the bolt and will not extract unless it is shot, at least on my rifle. This is due to the match chamber and the rim thickness of the CCI. All 3 types of SK ammo I've shot not only shoot well but have zero issues chambering and extracting. So far the CCI SV and SK Standard Plus have performed the best for us. I just got a brick of Lapua Center-X to test tomorrow.

I have the same issues with mine, the CCI SV shoots pretty good but want extract an unfired round, so I don't shoot it in this rifle.. I primarily have been shooting the SK Standard and SK match and the extraction issue is the same, if it's slightly tight going in it will not extract unless you fire it.

Patruck825, You obviously found an exceptional lot of Rifle Match. I tested at least a dozen different lots of SK Rifle Match - in Benchmark, Lilja,& Krieger bbls - and finally found one lot# good enough to buy in quantity. Even then, a 10-shot group at 100 as good as yours would've been a very pleasant surprise to me. This was before I'd tried SK Pistol Match - in that case, I'd ordered six different lots of it, and found that four of the six shot about as well as or better than the best of the SK Rifle Match. That's at 25-100yds. Now, after the better part of a year of shooting Pistol Match, I've decided that Rifle Match will generally shoot at least as good - and sometimes better than Pistol Match - at 200-300yds. Neither would be my choice for match stages at those distances - Lapua Center-X will generally out-shoot either grade of SK there, and Lapua Polar Biathlon will out-shoot Center-X - again, at 200-300. The thing is, most of the 22RF matches I've shot have had only a few shots out at those distances, with most stages maxing out at 100yds. That's fine with me, since Rifle & Pistol Match cost less than half what Lapua Polar Biathlon does. I'm interested in trying some of SK's new Flatnose ammo, but won't bother to try it until after I've found out whether the Eley EPS I have on hand will feed out of any of my three repeaters. If not, there's no need to spend the $$ on buying the SK Flatnose to test.

Again, congrats on that 10-shot group. It takes more than just good ammo to shoot like that - there's a lot of skill and consistency involved.

Thank you all, I appreciate the compliments. This rifle sure makes it easy...I just left the range after confirming zero and getting speed for my match tomorrow. And with a totally different lot of SK match I ordered to be here in time (was on the last box of the other stuff) she did this.

Nice rifle and shooting. How long is the wait time on the inlet service?

Shot some cci sv today. Shoots decent for $3/box ammo but literally took 50 shots to fully settle in after shooting center x.

The first three are without a suppressor, the last group was with and it had a minor POI shift.

Finally got my Vudoo together and had the new barrel put on. My goal was an exact replica of my match rifle for a true trainer. It turned out great and I wanna thank Vudoo for a great product.

Boy, I have a V22 coming and hope it shoots as good as yours. Ordered five weeks ago this coming Friday.
If it doesn't shoot rest assured you're in the best possible hands to insure it does shoot to your satisfaction. (y)

Five @50 with SK Standard+, the gun is better than me. ;)

I have shot Eley brown box, black box, CCI SV, RWS R50 and some bulk CMP ammo, and it has all shot great @ 50. I haven't had a chance to see what they will do @100, but I do know that the 2 and 300 yd steel plates are having to be repainted quite often.

That is really good shooting! I’m having a hard time waiting for mine to be finished. I shoot mostly chicken eggs matches @ 100 yards here in Central Michigan. Any suggestions on a scope to use for my 100 yardage egg matches? Thanks.

The scope is a Kahles 10x50x56. I like the 1/8 clicks. Our x ring is about a dime size at 100.
Good luck making breakfast.!

Sweet set up.

Them folks over there sure are great and they did an amazing job getting the V-22 to market.

Sure seems hard to do as everybody else seems to botch the roll out.

Hey Mike, heard the podcast the other day.

Good stuff.

Sure wish that guy would let his guests do all the talking as he ALWAYS cuts off guests when they are starting to get into some good shit, as he did with you several times.

Isn't that the truth! I listened to the one with Cole but haven't listened to this one yet, purely because the host is such a tool...

Thanks, Guys, it was pretty cool to do the podcast. Kirk is actually a really good Dude, being confined to an hour makes it difficult to cover everything. I'm sure it still would've been difficult with two hours as well.

Yeah, I'm sure he's a good guy and I appreciate his efforts.

2 hours would be much better and I'd probably not yell so loudly every time he tells a story about cutting the ends off a ham. :)

Anybody have feeding issues using a JAE chassis?

How low are you guys going on the trigger pull?

My TriggerTech was just a little over a pound when I got the rifle, but I dropped it down to about 4 ounces today.

I've tried repeatedly to see if it would slam fire, but so far, no issues.

I spoke with two other Vudoo owners yesterday who went with 2 ounce Jewels and both were having issues with slam fires or the firing pin easing down with the closing of the bolt.

Right at 1lb. I want to be able to feel the trigger and choose when to break it. Anything lighter while trying to get into or hold a position and also dtertermine when to fire is too difficult. Too many things going on at the same time. 1lb still breaks fine without influencing the rifle or POA.

I have my TT set at 5oz. I shot 3 position for years so its what Im used to. I did have to ftf using ELEY Edge. Seemed like good hits too. What a bitch to get them out. Live rounds wont extract .

Does anybody know the weight of the action? What about the rancher contour barrel at 16" trying to build a 8.5lb 4h light rifle. I want to run glass on it, with a Boyd's AT1 or pro varmint stock. But I think I'm going to have to find some weight to loose somewhere!

Found a 2-3 yr old brick of Wolf Match Target hiding at the back of the ammo fort. Shot a 50yd 10 round group with it before I moved to steel. Measured around .3" center to center. Too bad I'll never find another of this lot.
