Ashbury Precision Ordnance Sniper's Hide Edition Rifle

I used the tool to submit my configuration to the sales department; 308 in Sniper Gray. Lowlight is correct, that is one sexy rifle in that configuration...

I had to be submissive with my tool also ordered last week. And don't ask me to compare tools we might get strange comments from the peanut gallery. I'm sure mine is more sexy any way and more accurate. All the people I talked to at ashbury were awesome. Now the infamous waiting game. Good luck.

Thanks! Matt for your assistance.
I'm pretty sure Lowlight is color blind grey couldn't possibly be a good color for a rifle probably suffers from altitude sickness in Color ado.

As someone new to the sport should I get this rifle or the Savage Elite Precision? I've been hunting with Savage for a long time and have loved the results, been planning on the elite precision since they announced it but this rifle looks awesome too.

Avoid the savage compared to this
Thanks for the advice Frank, it looks like they have multiple color options as well....what's my favorite color??

Been listening to the podcast, keep up the great work! You're the main reason I'm so excited to get into this sport!

Good, I ordered sniper grey ?
At first I thought you were on the fence Frank will be proud. Hopefully you post a "shot" of it when you get your paws on it. Did you get any laser engraving?

Was on the fence about the looks until I saw this. When will the skeletonized buttstock be available as an option on the Hide edition?

They told me the SERISS stock wasn't available yet? Ask madmatz I could be wrong my order is in the works.

I guess I'll be making a call tomorrow to see if I can order that stock to my rifle. Nice!

Good luck! I think they told me after the first of the year? Will be looking to add one when available or just order a new rifle you can never have too many.

Which rail are most people running for their RSS bipod mounts? Will probably be ordering a rifle in the next few weeks.

My rifle should be here shortly (shipped yesterday) was waiting to see exactly what I have to make a decision leaning toward Area 419 they have several options. I think Frank had a opinion on that although I don't know if he recommended any specific brand it's on the hide somewhere ? I should have stated I'm using Atlas bipods.

Any opinions on this rifle compared to the Badrock South fork? Couple of things I like on each rifle versus the other, and first precision rifle for me.

Recieved today all good still fondling it. Frank probably took me off his Christmas card list it's not sniper gray.

Recieved mine Monday haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet (6.5 cm) I think you will be happy with your selection many options to consider. I threw a scope and a bipod on it Just to see if it all was in concert.
If I can I will post pics.

The service matches the quality. Go through the process of configuring your rifle with your wants and needs on their website will help you with your selection at that point you can know what it's going to cost. So you can plan. Other questions might come up I think you what website to get opinions/ answers. Happy rifle shopping.

I have thought about waiting till Black Friday to see if they have any specials since we are so close it is worth the wait for me to see if I can save some!

Did you configure your rifle yet?
That's just a sales quote not a order.
Your actual end product might change (due to a revision you make) before you physically send funds to make it a sales order. You can always ask them questions before during and after they are pretty easy to work with in my opinion.

First range report Ashbury SABER M700 ERT snipershide version.
6.5 cm.
Yesterday I went to the range (100yd) to zero it shot about 15 rounds in between getting interrupted by members. Today I went back 31 more rounds got it very close to my liking.
I knew I was in for a challenge my scope is a k525i setting on a 20 moa base the rifle comes with a 20 moa rail. My take is that it's a pleasure to shoot it's also more accurate than then the guy (me) behind the trigger which is one of the features that is important I believe it's a TT primary (sweet) . The rifle checks all of my needs and most of my wants and being modular can be updated to my preferences.
Any issues I incurred were induced by me such as stacked moa rails. Also my scope has a quick turn lever when I cycle the bolt no matter what technique I use interferes with the process (at low power) all that can be fixed on my end.
Any rate Thanks to Frank for choosing / collaborating with Ashbury (they did good) to put it all together in a very reasonably priced package.
It's as much fun to shoot (gentle) as my Ar's.
And no I'm not a paid spokesman.

Ok, So I've had mine for a little while now and have a question for the group. Is anyone else having issues with AI mags? I was having feeding issues and with some digging I was able to find a fix for that, but they are almost impossible to get in and out of the rifle. It's so bad I took a sander to one and while it made it better I wouldn't call it good by any measure. Anyone else had this issue? Any fixes? They are factory AI mags I ordered from APO when I bought the rifle.

I find the magpul ones rough and sort of sticky and can jam if fed at the wrong angle but I dont have very much experience with other mag fed bolt actions so not much to compare it to besides my AR's which are hard to make NOT work smoothly.

I have only had mine for about 3 weeks now. I recieved three Pmags 2-5 round 1-10 still waiting on a 10 round metal magazine and some other stuff.
The Pmags lock up tight and don't Just drop out like my ARs. For me no feeding issues (only 46 rounds down the pipe so far) .
The only recommendation regarding mine is I should have ordered the "tactical bolt knob" as my thumb rides the side of the scope I'm using a k525i with a quick turn lever.
No big deal I'll just have to send them the bolt and a little cash. Didn't mean to wonder off post.

AI mags are very tight in my rifle... to the point of being difficult to use at all. The MagPul mags fit better, but are still tight.
Never had feeding issues with either.

My Magpuls are the same, but I like it that way tbh. I put a KRG on mine but it sounds like yours maybe bigger. 46 rounds.....How you liking it?? I took mine to a class and Comp so far and its a hammer.

Love it, so far it's only been on a 100 yard at a club trying get them to stretch it out to 2-300. I'm still tweaking my self to the rifle. When I get it I'll take it out to Thunder valley probably spring very nice range been there never shot.

On so on the APO chassis mags and Feeding. If you are having some issues please feel free to post up or DM me, I think this will help people understand the APO chassis a little better when it comes to mag fit type and fit. AICS/P-mags will drop free after they have been used a couple of times, they brake in an smooth out. Now for the mags to drop free the mag leaver must be push forward to disengage the catch and hold to allow for the mag to drop. If you just press and the release the mag leaver allowing it to unseat the catch there will still be the magazine leaver pressure pushing on the mag body as you try to remove the mag by pulling down. As for the AI/AW We toleranced our mag wells on the snug side so if you plan to run AI/AW Double stack double feed type mags and some of the AI double stack single feed mags, there is some light mods that can be done by a mechanically inclined user or have a gun smith or ship it to the APO shop. The side of the mag well can be filed with a flat file and opened up to the user's preference for fit, i.e. Pull free or Drop free. I hope this helps. I hope you guys are enjoying the rifles and chassis!! Safe and Happy shooting.....

Sooooo your saying I could send in my Chassis and have the mag well opened up? I would rather APO do it than any of my local shops. Do you know the cost for the service? I have 2 AI/AW mags and was considering selling them, they are hard enough that they're almost unusable. I've sanded the one but would like them to pull free like the magpuls.

Yes you can ship in just the mags and the chassis center section and we can modify the mag well to be able to use both AI/AW and AICS/P-Mags, note that the P-mag fit will have more clearance around the magazine. The cost for this service would be $95.00 and include cerakote armor black tuch-up on the mag well area. If you going to look at doing this i would suggest that you send a check along with the parts to save the 3% Credit card fee.

Wow, Since Matt is back.

Loving the rifle. A few questions.

Will one of the Mod-1 forends fit on this rifle? Are they available?

When will the skeleton stock be out?

Glad you are enjoying the rifle!! Yes Mod-1 Carbon fiber or Alloy both will fit. We are still looking a spring time release on the new skeleton stock. We will put together a Sniper's Hide Group buy with frank on the first release of the new Skeleton Stock.

Serious question because I was very disappointed when my AICS single stack Mags wouldn’t fit and the Pmags are ridiculously tight. Why wasn’t the chassis machined for AI mags to begin with?

Madmatz can answer it.
I imagine it's because it's a factory Rem action.
My p mags are tight but I would prefer tight as opposed to loose. You can work a little on mags I think that has been covered if you look back a little.
I'm still working on a metal AICS Just to see if their is a difference forgot the brand I have it wrote down somewhere.

It’s not the action they just didn’t mill out the mag well enough. Just find it odd they decided to do what they did.

Madmatz pops in every so often or call him his ext# 574
