Hi,

No trigger options will be offered at this time.

Look at how many "trigger" issues there are due to the huge variations in trigger fit, engagement, etc etc with actions. We are purposely eliminating that.

Until we are ready to switch over to our own trigger, we will continue to utilize the Timney Howa 1500 trigger for the reasons I listed previously in one of the above threads.

As much information and details of parts, components, fits, alloys, etc etc...it is pretty safe to say that IF I have not listed it; it is not going to be available if it requires modifications/changes to the actual design.

Sincerely,
Theis

Assuming your trigger will mount the same way as the 1500 to make it backwards compatible?

For me the most important things in trigger would be:
1. User safety (not going off unless intended by the operator)
2. The feel overall and how crisp it breaks

the brand, model, color don’t much matter to me if I am happy with the above mentioned.
Rem 700 trigger design, although it is very popular, does have it’s hickups.

Hi,

Here is another design feature that is utilized yet probably will be unseen by some.

This feature allows us to account for magazine variations but more importantly it allows us to tune the magazine fit/feel.
You want super tight fit or loose fit....we figured if that option was allowed in jeans then why is it not an option in precision rifles...

Brilliant! Devils in the details.

Hi,

YES it is, but we have a couple things to fix in regards to fit before we take customer orders.

1. We have to fix the gap between the top of grip and the bottom of grip attachment section on the chassis.
Looks like we will be milling out a deeper insert into the Ergo Grips to allow them to sit slightly higher onto the chassis attachment section.

2. We have to make the magazine release levers with a tab sticking off the bottom so that easier to press with thumb as hand grabs the magazine.
The magazine release levers right now are (and will remain also) on each side of the trigger guard.

3. We will be taking a vote here and at Shot Show in regards to handguard fit...
A. Flush with receiver.
B. Slightly spaced off the receiver.

The demo units we are sending out will basically confirm what we need to change and that is the entire point of sending units out before ordering is open. INDEPENDENT evaluation is needed and lacking in this industry IMO.

Sincerely,
Theis

100% on the last paragraph.

All too often I’m asking myself “how did they not catch that” or “who the fuck did the testing” or “there’s no way whoever designed this shoots a lot.”

tease. we were all hoping for an open case pic. how nice and snug that things looks inside

Hi,

There are 2 rifles in each case...so snug and tight is what they looked like, lolol.

Theis

Hoplite T-shirts?

Hi,

Soft goods.......
Sounds like I need to get some shirts with serial numbers to match rifles and include in the purchase.
Standalone shirts would not have serial numbers :)

OOOOOOO

Wow...

actual RD being performed

and not only performed but performed by the manufacturer not on paying customers

Novel Idea :p

actually if i knew it going in id nave no problem at all..shit happens all the time

better yet if i was in the process on the phone discussing problems or solutions it might even be fulfilling

but when you send some money on a pre-order, receive it after original date and it still doesn't work

not so much

i might be on the other side of the coin

the more options, the more inventory and the possible longer or erratic lead times

if you can have different grips then why not different rails or X,Y,Z

going down that road and you will prob fall into the current custom rifle industry disaster (erroneous lead times, and faulty roll out of product) which is what Hoplite Arms seems to purposely stay away from

if @THEIS is coming to market with a robust, functional weapon system with a larger performance envelope i wouldn't touch it off the bat

Just my opinion

I concur

There are WAY more AR grips that are not vertical than ones that are. I have a vertical ergo. It's ok, i don't love it. Also, the vertical ergo grip almost feels like it has a negative angle. It looks like these are truly vertical or just a little bit short of that.

One question i have is: is there an arca/rrs dovetail section on the receiver just in front of the mag well? There doesn't appear to be, but i feel like there should be because that is the typical balance point on a precision rifle.

That doesn’t apply with A2 grips. You don’t keep any in inventory. Just the one you send with the rifle.

The end user can decide to order an aftermarket grip or not.

It’s rare you need anything that far back attached to an arca rail. And with a tripod, it won’t tip over or anything being slightly forward.

Balance point typically only matters for sitting in a bag or flat surface.

Depends more on the tripod. If you go with a quality tripod that is sized right that is true.

Makes sense. I have very little experience shooting from a tripod. I just assumed the balance point would be where you wanted to mount it.

I called ahead to schedule your complementary TSA prostate check.

Your welcome.

Hi,
No call ahead needed....ever since the explosive residue detected on my boots in Tel Aviv.....I mysteriously get preselected for additional screening.

Sincerely,
Theis

You are not already flying private?

Hi,

Not yet, as soon as I figure out this artificial intelligence algorithm I will be able to handle that.

Theis

I feel you there.

I've been told by Iraqis that I have "an Iraqi face" and I've been mistaken for the interpreter a few times. When I'm on leave with my customary facial hair, I've got a success rate of right about 100% for "random" additional security screening. The only real question is whether they'll also screen my travel companions, ask me to demonstrate my computer functions, swab all my stuff, etc.

I've never identified with George Carlin more than when going through airport security.

Maybe men find you attractive and want to touch you?

We need pics of your booth Theis!
Quit holding out.

Hi,

So the pop-up preview booth day is over and so ends Hoplite Arms first exhibition.

I will be back at the shop Saturday to sit in peace and quiet to digest the questions, comments and responses we received during the show.

It was a great day today for us and on behalf of myself and the entire Hoplite Arms company I would like to thank some SH members for taking the time from their day to come by and visit with us.

I apologize if I forget to include anyone by name (it is not intentional):
@lowlight
@DAVETOOLEY
@Dthomas3523
@koshkin
@trophyhunter
@steve123 (I think that was you)
@TBACRAY and the rest of the TBAC crew with him
@ELR researcher
@samb300

You T&E guys... give me a little time to get things organized and we will confirm everything for the shipments.

Additions and/or changes to the T&E guys....
Frank getting a 338LM
Ray getting the 18" barrel 308 with handguard cut to only have 1 Mlok slot on bottom for bipod :)
Thomas getting the 260 just to start his torture..then transitioning to the 6GT in Sentinel.

Sincerely,
Theis

wish i could have made it this year! hard to do a week at SHOT then a week long bachelor party in Phoenix back to back! looking forward to what's coming though!

Hi,

During Shot Show we got a few questions in regards to some of the receiver features/design; so just in case any of those same questions were wondered but not asked here I figured would be great place to put them.

Q. How loose/tight is the magazine to insert, is the magazine drop free?
A. Completely dependent on what you as the end user wants it to be. We have designed and incorporated a feature that allows you to set the magazine "tension" per say. See tension piece in picture below..
Kopis Bottom1.jpg

Q. How "close" is the breech cylinder fit into the receiver and what color is it?
A. CLOSE!!! The breech cylinder is inserted past the threads then pinned into place. And we have the Birdsong coated black for this batch.
Kopis Breech Cylinder.jpg

Q. What do the bolt lugs look like in relation to breech cylinder lugs?
A. Please see below image from my cell phone, lol.
Kopis Lugs.jpg

Q. What do the bolt internals look like? How hard is it to remove bolt internals?
A. Please see below picture of the entire fire control system and the bolt assembly/disassembly is done by hand with absolutely no tools. (Maybe some of the guys that seen it at Shot Show will provide 3rd party insight on that)
Kopis Fire Controls1.jpg

Q. Where is the bolt stop?
A. It is built in as part of the bolt guide. That little spring loaded tab at the very back/top underside of the receiver body is the auto/manual bolt stop.

Theis

Quick question
Have you tested to see if the bolt stop is strong enough to stop the bolt coming out of the receiver if for example someone opens the bolt after a hang fire, just in time for one of those huge high pressure rounds to go off?

Somewhere in the future, that might save someone a trip to the hospital, or at least make their trip a bit less expensive.
