Rifle Scopes Arken Optics EP-4 Tracking Test Video

Well... I ordered the Arken EP-4, and I received a broken scope... the focus knob takes a ton of effort to turn, it feels and sounds gritty, and it doesn’t actually adjust anything.

fit and finish seems nice... I can’t really comment on anything else.

I just got my EP-4 4-16 today. I took it out of the box I was surprised how beefy this thing is. Reminds me of the razor but not as heavy. Everything looked good. Packed nice but I did not receive a owners manual in the box. I don’t know if they come with one? I turned the elevation knob. nice loud crisp clicks. Parallax knob is smooth. Then I got to the magnification ring. It was on 4 power when I took it out of the box. So I turned it up it went smooth to smooth then it caught around 10 power and got tight as I turned it up. I looked thru the glass and from 4-10 power nothing happens to the reticle when I turned the ring. I felt it catch around 10 power so it was slipping. I checked the little flat head screw on the magnification ring. It was loose so I turned it back to 4 power tignted the little screw and boom it works. Kinda disappointed I had to do that now I don’t know if 4 power or 16 power is correct if you know what I mean. It seems good but I have not seen a picture of the reticle on 16 power. Can someone post a pic that has one so I know I’m not actually on like 12 power because it was slipping out of the box.

@Bryan marks

Update on my broken Arken. First off, I emailed Arken, and Mike responded in less than 5 minutes. Seems like excellent and personable customer service. Also, he asked me 3 different times about any impressions I had of the scope. Mike really seems to care about how customers are receiving their products.

The scope has excellent glass clarity, very easy to use zero stop, and very nice turrets. I’ll keep y’all updated if anyone cares?

edit: Arken is going to replace the scope I ordered.

Do you use strelok? How do you like it. I use hornady 4dof but I’m thinking about giving another app a shot

Yes, I use it. It's fine for me but it's all I've ever really used. I've messed w/ some ballistic calculators but only the Strelok in the field.

So a little update on the issue I had I called the company and one of the owners picked up the phone. I was surprised. I talked to him about my screw being loose on my magnification ring thru a couple of test on the phone the owner said we would like to send you a new one. With everything we talked about he said my scope was most likely just fine but he wanted to send me a new one just to ease my mind with any doubts. I explained I am shooting a match on the 14th and if I sent the scope in I would not be able to shoot he said no problem that scope will work just fine so use it and we’ll put another one in the mail so when you get the new one mail us back the one you have. That’s pretty cool they would do that. When I had an issue with a competitor scope company they had me mail in the scope I had before they would replace it. That’s good customer service and I really appreciate them doing this.

I got out to zero mine today. It responded accurately to the reticle. In other words, I needed to move 2mils up and 1 mil right according to my reticle. When I turned the turrets those amounts, it moved that amount. I dialed to 540 yards and back a few times and it tracked. I did have trouble finding the center dot on a red bullseye. But I did manage to shoot 1/2” groups, that could just be my eyes, I’m in denial about needing glasses. It’s clear, and it tracks. I’m happy so far. Time will tell with endurance. Lifetime warranty will fix any endurance issues.

He picked it off a prize table at a midget wrestling tournament.

Not really. Just trying to match my answer to the question's level of autism.

C,mon he is not that short!
Pretty sure you took the autism slightly further than my Spectrum as well.

Anyone compare the glass to SWFA yet? Need some more glass since the SWFA 3-15 is now on the kids Christmas present.

That is cuz there are guys on here that will buy 4 scopes with the intention of only keeping one
I bought one to try, actually. I’m selling it because I can’t get the parallax to adjust out of it. Other than that, it’s a nice optic. Great turrets, clear upon initial inspection, and nice and compact.

send it back they will probably fix it, or the parallax can be adjusted too

did you try moving the turret cap ?

There is a screw you might be able to slip the cap to move the range of motion, didn't try it but it might work

You all know where to find me. We are not in the business of selling faulty optics. We certainly don't want those resold to someone else. If you have problems with our products, please let us know directly and we would be happy to get you taken care of. [email protected]

An update on my broken EP-4 4-16.

Arken sent me a new EP-4 and a shipping label to send the defective scope back. It was a bummer to receive a broken scope, however, Arken made it right. They were very responsive and very pleasant to work with.

The replacement scope works perfectly! To echo everyone else, glass is above average for the price. The ocular glass is not very deeply set into its bezel, so smudges happen a little more easily. On the flip side, it’s easier to clear out dust particles. The turrets are the best part! All the lines line up perfectly on both the defective and the replacement scopes. Clicks are solid with no play, or “wiggle”. I like the reticle except for the center dots. They are very fine which is great for zeroing. However, they get a little lost at low light or on darker targets.

Overall, I am more than happy with the company, and the scope. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but because I received a broken scope, and Arken made it right, it makes me trust Arken more. Just my two cents. I’m not affiliated with Arken in any way, but I think the EP4 is well worth the money.

I was in the same boat as you. Arken made it right. I shot a match with mine and soon I will be posting a review/first match thoughts about the scope.

I took the plunge and ordered a 6-24. I have to say that my first impression is good. The glass is very clear and crisp, the eye box is forgiving and the adjustments are very tactile. The overall fit and finish of the scope is nice. it does remind me of my Razor GEN 2 minus the weight. I am very interested to see how it performs on the range as well as long term.

I ordered one today and hope it’s as good as some say! It’s going on the .223 trainer and use for NrL22

@ArkenOpticsUSA So you were just online responding to private messages (yes, we can see when you're logged in and can see your activity). You haven't respond to my emails, you're not responding to the discussions (see the other Arken thread), and when I sent you a private message you log off. Can a brother get a response? I don't like to go public with issues, but I begin to draw the line when it appears I'm being ignored. Talk to me, Goose. If you guys are jumping through hoops trying to make things happen and get people taken care of, I understand. Just send a quick acknowledgement (e.g. "Hey brother, we're tracking your issue and here's the status... Charlie Mike."), don't ignore your customers, and we'll be good. Standing by.

Frank,
Sir do you think is would be a good scope for hunting in the south east where the distance for deer would be 300 and lees?

so it looks like @Loe_307 who claims to be an Arken rep is on here all the time....40 min ago...last time I checked.
@randalloc is banned.....up until now I thought he was the official guy. Why oh why Oh @Tucker301 God did he get catted?
On facebook theres this Frank Medero guy hawking the scopes and being extremely annoying in the Arken
fan page. Its honestly hard to read thru comments with his being every other one.

I wanted to buy one of these! I Have the money in hand! it's amazing
How can somebody eff up their reputation so bad
with simply their online presence ?

Fuck it. I'm staying with Athlon. Awesome value and awesome warranty (I've Heard) that I haven't needed yet.

I get on here frequently, but for some reason I can't reply to most of the Arken threads anymore. I've asked the admins why. Trying to catch up on some of the threads I can still reply to. As far as who I am to Arken, I went with them to SHOT, I've known one of the owners for a few years now, I'm work for them (not a dealer or sales guy) We're cleaning up our communications as we've had some issues with that. We're also working on cleaning up some of the mess we made with our initial push online. We're definitely listening and working on correcting our missteps.

I could argue to stretch that out to 500+, and I shoot my AR beyond that with a fixed ballistic reticle all the time. I see almost no point in messing with a turret at all at <300 yds. Just my opinion...

Sounds like typical QC issues for a "cheap" scope manufacturer; however, seems like we're starting to see more of this pop up in the more expensive scopes as well. After reading through some of the above posts it sounded like Arken was really quick to address issues, but then there were some complaints of no response at all, maybe because of SHOT it was hard to address everything but I am curious how well their customer service is of late, how responsive have they been to issues?

Also, is Arken a Hide sponsor?

To all.... We will never ignore our customers, but the fact is we are a extremely small team which has meant that not everyone gets addressed right away. We will continue to improve our products and execution across the board to better serve our customers (starting with bringing on solid employees). Despite all the naysayers, we have proven that we can offer a legitimate alternative to shooters. Please continue to be patient with us. We won't get everything right everytime but you can count on us to do the right thing. We are sold out for a reason. Thank you all for the support.
