How many of us have lived through this virus already?

My Squaw just had to go to Breckenridge to see the Ice sculptures and I told her then, "NO, I ain't goin, there are too many people and they all have cooties!"
She went anyway, much to my chagrin. She would not listen. That was before all of this C19 came up. and guess what? Turns out that is where all of this shit started in Colorado.

Well, by God, she came home, and a week or so later she came down with Dread Mogus Crud, so I took care of her, meals etc. and waited for my turn as both of us are here in the same house together.

It took about a week for me to be hit with this shit after she brought it home, but hit I was.

I haven't been that sick since I was in RVN and had malaria, thought I might hack a lung up. It was bad. I wanted to die, I felt so bad.

I lived through that but did wonder a time or two if I would. Thanks Squaw, you brought me home a nice thing from the Ice sculptures, was it worth it?

I do wonder, at this point, if the Drs can take samples from me and use that to help others? I would like to help others.
It was a BITCH and I was very sick as well as was my Squaw. but we did survive.

I swear I had the cornyvirus, in January. It started with a sore throat and went to my chest. I had low grade fever and six weeks of chest rattles and wheezing, despite antibiotics, Celestone and prednisone. Breathing was difficult and my chest and head hurt, like crazy. It was nasty stuff. My wife had the same, showing symptoms four days, after mine started. We both believe we had this crap, well before the world went crazy with it.

They now actually have a test to determine if you once had the Wuhan flu & got better......

But as always the test is only for the "Special".... people.

Us common poors can't get either the you have it or the you had it test.

Just go home and live as a prisoner and try to survive, call us if you are dying.

Damn, I am glad you both pulled through. How long were you sick?

My father in law and his brother got something about the same as what BLEE said in December or January. Dr. said they weren't sure what it was but it would take about a month for the cough to run its course, and to come back if it gets worse. Father in law coughed for about a month. His brother is heavier, I suspect with some other health problems, as well as high blood pressure, and he wheezed for at least 8 weeks. Both are in their early 60s.

I got something upper respritry about that time, I felt off for a week but was only sick for a couple days. Everyone else had it too, about the same time. I am guessing it was just a seasonal cold.

Work in a hospital and have had most of my co-workers have similar signs/symptoms of COVID back in December and even November. Me nothing but its been here longer than people want to believe because they've been told otherwise from the news.

Good bet over three quarters of the country has either had it or been exposed to it at some time or another.

The wife and I were talking about this last week and we had the same shit back in January. Shit sucked and took forever to get rid of. Same symptoms as you described. Was it the same virus going around now, I don’t know.

A enzyme test is rolling out now that will tell if you have/had it. If you have had it, then you may be able to donate plasma (with antibodies). The tech is being sorted out now, as to how (and if) they're going to need that, and do that...

I worked about 5 days in Jan and ain't been the same since. Bacterial infection of the lungs most likely started by a viral infection. BP 200/130, very hard time breathing, first ever ride in an ambulance. Dr said reaction to one med. Happened again and said reaction to another. Most sick I've ever been and that includes going camping/hunting after two wks of untreated strep throat in ~10* blasting wind/snow that I thought was going to kill me.

If it wasn't the c19, I'll be in real trouble if I get the c19.

I've already posted it here somewhere Mike but yeah, I had something for 3 weeks from dec28th till middle of january. Matter of fact, everyone in my house had it.
Drs said we all had the flu....I ain't no doctor, but I've had 3 different strains including that pig shit flu....this wasn't like any flu I've ever had.
Before I got really bad off, I thought I had bronchitis...well, antibiotics work for bronchitis, they didnt work on this shit. My lungs got worse and worse, then when I started to get better, my lungs cleared right up. I've had pneumonia, bronchitis many times, even had chemical pneumonia from chlorine gas, this crap was pretty close to chemical pneumonia I reckon.
Long story short my lungs weren't productive, I couldn't make it come out.

Like I have said, I don't think I'll ever know.

Couple guys on my crew got it back in January. One returned from Mexico, the following day he drove back to work with another (we work about 3.5 hrs away from home and stay in a camp), they both ended up getting very sick, taking weeks to recover. One gave it to his family upon returning home, his niece ended up with pneumonia. Others on our crew got it, some with pneumonia also. Children and young adults don't just end up with pneumonia from the flu that easily. I was in close contact with both of them, driving the same work trucks, sharing lunch rooms, and no one is going to spend 2 weeks in their camp room instead of at work, no matter how sick they are. Luckily I didn't get anything, or bring it home to my family. Just met up with the both of them today as we all just got laid off due to this virus. They are certain they had it, as they both couldn't be given any info from the doctor other than a viral infection in the lungs and to let it run its course.

I ended up working through it but it was damn miserable. The scary part for us when we got it, our daughter was only a couple weeks old. Pretty much had to quarantine myself from both my daughters.

I sure as Hell was a Sick MoFo. as was The Squaw, I do believe it was this shit before anyone knew what it was.

I hurt everywhere, and my ribs hurt from coughing. I was wondering if I might not cough up a lung.

If I can donate and help someone else I will do it , that shit was BAD.

I do have some nice Ice Sculpture pics The Squaw brought home, among other things. And NO I am not posting them up. Above my pay grade. Haven't learned that yet. And no you don't want to see The Squaw. No fapping there unless you are into Granny. FM

I was out 2 weeks for work in February. My wife was 5 days behind me in symptoms. Coughing a crap ton. Thought it was flu. Docs never gave me a flu test.

I’ll jump in.

Had something late Jan into Feb. that started and ended much different from anything I’ve had before. Wife would wake me in the middle of the night because she thought I was suffocating from my coughing (can’t explain it any other way). The onset was an extremely nasty throat “dryness”, then fever, then the lung issues and not being able to hack it out. Hung around for a while, at least a couple weeks.

One of my employees was hospitalized just prior to this with the same symptoms, which lead him to pneumonia.

Don’t know what it was, but I’d be glad to not get it again..

I feel pretty certain I had it starting back in January. Never had any fever that I know of, but the dry coughing was practically never ending. I had coughed so much that my ribs hurt in a couple places. The dry cough progressed to a shallow chest cold with some congestion, then it cleared up there and went to wreak havoc on my sinuses. I never missed a day of work, and about 5 others in my work circle got it, too. It took me 7 weeks to shake it off. A typical seasonal bug usually only lasts two weeks at most with me. I'm 51 years old and in good health otherwise for what that's worth. My wife got it about a week after my onset, and it took her 8 weeks to shake it off.

A couple of my fellow shooting buddies had it back in December. It was 6-8 weeks for them to shake it off, too. I'd say over 50 percent of the population has already had it and beaten it.

I did see a few news blurbs about people with type A blood were more likely to experience stronger effects from the virus. Type O people reportedly have tended to have milder effects. I'm type O+, and it took me 7 weeks to get over it. Another common issue that has been noted is that the virus thrives with ibuprofen or any of its derivatives like Advil.

Hate to read of layoffs in addition.

I think there are a metric shit ton of people out there that caught it and beat it before it as popular.

I think I am one and if there was a place around where I could give samples or blood that would help others, I would do it.

That shit was no joke and if there is something else coming around that is worse I fear it will put me under. FM

The daughter is a nurse. She was in town for New Year's and was not feeling well. Nothing bad until she left on the 4th of January. When she got home she called and said that the drive home was miserable and she felt terrible. The next day she had a flu test at work. It was negative so were several tests done every 8 hours. Doctors told her she had a serious viral lung infection and told her to stay home. Two weeks and she was better but weak.

I cant take any NSAIDs and have to be careful taking tylenol.
That may have helped me stay out of the hospital if what they say is true about the cyclone storm they talk about.

Doc gave me Tamiflu. That shit liken to have killed me on it's own. It also didnt help a bit.

That's exactly what I said Mike. Anything worse would have killed me.
When I went to urgent care I was actually hoping they would put me in the hospital, cause I couldn't breath. They said my O2 was 92 or 94, and didnt give me any breathing treatment. I was trying to breath through the pain cause I've had pneumonia before and know how it works.

Something interesting about what went around our area in January / February, is in our office, I'm pretty sure I caught it from a specific person who came to work sick because they were saving their sick days for a vacation. I probably got it the worst of anyone in the office apart from them and the interesting thing is both them and I are in the "higher risk" category (not High Risk, but Higher risk), three other people in the office got very mild symptoms of the same thing of various degrees of misery, they were in the "lower risk" category for the most part.

I got hit w/ something in early to mid November. Didn't hit me that hard or last that long EXCEPT I could NOT clear out my lungs for weeks/month. I would cough and hack and try to expel whatever was in there but to no avail. The lung shit would just not go away. I would cough hard and deep. As hard and as deep as I can ever remember to expel shit. It was also not very much or very wet. Surprisingly low moisture content.

This "lung thing" went through the entire maintenance dept here. I'm sure that's where I got it. I work nights with two twenty somethings.
Everyone who got it at work was 35-60yrs. Except for two nights, and two meetings, I burned 3 weeks of sick time.

And eta, I am .moderate to high risk at 51yrs, HBP since I was 14 and bad lungs since I was 6 months old.

Same here brother. Couldn’t run or train, hell, I could barely walk around work. Took me weeks to be rid of. Skipped the wife but hit my kid too.

On a side note, this lockdown life is bogus. Went to the range today and got some fresh air. Hope all of y’all stay safe and well.

I'v had worst anyone every had the shits when your ass sweats ?

I wrote about my episode of getting sick at then end of January.

It did suck at the time but even at 58 years old; it wasn't that bad.

Standby, there is a lot of research going on right now to develop a blood test to identify past exposure, but not ready for primetime yet. Using that test together with the DNA test that we have to identify active virus will help to track what is going with community transmission.

I'll pass on being tested

I was talking to someone in AZ and they are pretty much 100% sure they and their whole family had it.
Somebody apparently brought it to an event and got them all at the shop sick.

They are all recovering fine and over it.

They weren't "Special enough" for the testing but one of the others who got sick at the same event got tested and was positive.

Late February.

My wife and mother both had symptoms in January that sure fit the profile. I had to take my mother to the ER. She tested Negative for Flu and was told she had a viral respiratory infection. She’s 84 and has chronic asthma. She was really sick for weeks and just couldn’t shake it. She’s just now starting to get back to feeling normal. My wife’s was less severe, but after she recovered she had shortness of breath for weeks. They couldn’t figure it out and scheduled her for a cardiac stress test in case it was a heart problem.

Bull shit. Youre so goddamned ugly and ornery just tell that shit that if it comes around your house it'll wish it had tangled with chuck Norris. ;)

Were you on blood pressure meds?

Those seem to make things tons worse.

I probably gave it to abn31c, left it on the bench and he picked it up after I left. The only reason my spotter/shooting partner didn't get it is because he was in Hawaii at the time. He is lucky like that.

After reading the post here, I think I got it at the end of January in California. Went there for a week on business, after 5 days there, scatchy throat, fever, chills at night, lost my voice, flew back sick as a dog!! Went to the walk in clinic here the next day after I landed. Tested neg for flu, no Covid 19 test. Dr said I had an upper respritory infection. Put me on antibiotics, coughed green chicken fat up for 3 weeks, then dry cough for three more weeks. I’m 61 and was drained for three to four weeks, even hard to get up and go to work? Fleeling about 90% now.
But it sucked! DO NOT let that shit settle in your chest!!!
Stay healthy all!!

I had heard someone else say BP meds make it worse.
Yes. Unfortunately I have been on BP pills since I was 14. Congenital defect is best guess. They sure as hell didnt leave any stone unturned looking for the cause.

My friends mom and her boyfriend work at a place here that is going back and forth with some of their jobs to China. Apparently there were some Chinese people here a while back and one of them was obviously sick, coughing hacking all of that. Well come to find out mom and boyfriend spend about 3 weeks sicker than hell. They got tested recently for Corona but of course the test came back negative because it was done after they were feeling better. I would lay pretty good odds they had the Wuhan flu.

Virtually positive my boss & I got it at the Seattle boat show last week of Jan. Was pretty sick for a week then just not well for at least 2 more after that.
