MDT ACC Chassis

I've got my ACC with 300PRC down to a slim trim 21lbs now....going to add maybe 1.5lbs soon with the difference in scope and mount. Going with the 5-27 ZCO MPCT3 with a Spuhr mount. That weight is with the Atlas Bipod, Hoptic quiver, and an empty MDT CIP mag. Add 5 rounds to the mag and 2 in the quiver and it pushes the weight up. Feels like a pig...kicks like a kitty.
Ya.. that's what it seems like. I'm going to see if I can double stack some of the internal weights in the very front. I have an almost flat contour barrel, see how it goes.

Yeah, there are a lot of little features like that all over our chassis/stocks! Did you notice that there is a channel on the underside of the forend that is about the same thickness as grip tape too? ;) We'll be doing a video in a little while here that explains some of the "hidden" features.

Did you ever come out with this video?

This type of thing would let customers use the product to its potential.

I added some rubber type of grip tape to the the outer sides of the forend. I was thinking about putting some on the arca rail part but really no point

Here's the ACC cut down 3.5" to make it fit a nice 18" Vudoo.

Can we see a close up of the tip of the foreend? Can we see a side profile close up and a head on close up?...btw...nice

Thanks man...I wanted to see exactly where you did the cut and added the screws.....looks very nice. I hope that setup works wonderfully for you.

Thanks! I'm excited to get this Vudoo out there and get used to it. I've been shooting a 10/22 in an Oryx and a MDT ACC with a Tikka T1X 20" all season long for NRL22. 2 months to get used to it before NRL22 nationals.

To get it to balance right, I needed to add 3 internal weights, and put my bipod ~1lb on it. I also swapped the buttplate to be the aluminum and I'm using a 3D printed bag rider (cuts .7lb total from the rear). I didn't want to strap external weights since I'm enjoying the fresh cerakote and design.

Where did you get the printed bag rider?

I dropped a Howa 6mm Creedmoor barreled action into one. I like the ergos, and it definitely feels solid.

I can't say if it improved accuracy, because this rifle hasn't had any other stocks. However it holds .6-.75 moa with factory hornady pretty regularly... and it did this with some Copper Creek Berger 109 loads a little while ago:

Looks good! The Howa's are really solid factory barreled actions.

Any chance of a package deal? Similar to how XLR does the vibbert package?

Maybe an ACC pro package. All the internal, external, and nvg rail......and save a few bucks?

Good question @Dthomas3523 ! I will bring that up in one of our upcoming meetings. We currently do something similar to this with our ESS chassis system, but maybe it'll be worth implementing for the ACC too.

Not trying to insist you directly copy them, but the package they offer is very appealing in terms of price and adjustability. Very similar to the acc when you add all weights and nvg rail.

My only objection to this is that you have just suggested a fine way for me to further lighten my wallet.

I just bought a new custom action that supports AW magazines. Does the MDT ACC also support AW? Sorry if this is a dumb question - new to all these magazine intricacies.

Yes it does :) The AW magazines have the same external dimensions as the AICS magazines, they are just shorter and have different feedlips. Some tuning of your magazine latch may be required, but for me, DSDF (AW) magazines dropped right in with my Defiance Deviant Elite w/ an AW cut and they feed great!

Any progress on left hand tikka ACC chassis

We still have not had enough requests as far as I know and it is not on our design "to-do" list unfortunately. As with any inlet requests, the more of you guys the let us know what you want (through our customer service team), the more likely we are to make it!

@MDT_Josh question regarding the LoP. I am switching over my Tikka ACC to a R700 ACC, the ones I bought were in October/November so they're at the 13.5" LoP. It looks like the one I'm trading with was purchased in March of 2019 direct from you guys which I am guessing was around 13.75-14"?

Was the extra length on the fore-end or on the buttstock?

I run a 13.5" LoP, so I'm worried now that what I just traded would be too long and looking for solutions.

Thanks!

What does length of pull have to do with forend length?

I believe MDT shortened the part of the chassis that accepts the buttstock - Current version of the Chassis.

The one I just traded for - older MDT ACC.

Looks like it's about 1/4-1/2" longer? I'll have it in hand in a few days to really compare the two chassis.

Hey @littlepod , good questions!

So we removed that length from the buttstock side (as you can see in the photos you posted) and added it to the forend, as well as minimally shortening the buttsock itself. So we went from the roughly ~13.75" LOP down to 13.375" by doing so. The chassis that you will be trading for has the longer buttstock and longer interface, meaning that the minimum LOP on an R700 SA chassis should be 13.5-13.75" depending on the buttstock it has on it.

We do have a solution to reduce the LOP coming VERY soon, but that will be released in the next little while and I can't send you to the website for it just yet :(

Would be good if there was a "show your MDT chassis" rifle thread!

There is now, here:

Thanks for the very detailed response. My friend has a Tactical Grey Tikka ACC with the shorter buttstock, so I might be able to get 1/8" shorter I guess by swapping the buttstocks.

I wanted to grab a quiver for the ACC, but it looks like mounting it in the spot that it was made for might be too close to the ejection port.

Noticed that someone else ran theirs -

In general, feedback on pros/cons for the Hoptic Quiver? Someone recommend something differently? I think I can just buy the m-lok version and replace the left side with a screw that goes into the hole.

I haven't noticed any negatives on mine....mounting it close to the ejection port. Never really thought about it....just installed it and ran it.

I've been running the .308/6.5CM Hoptic Quivers on all of my centrefire ACC's and have never had an issue FWIW :) I am sure you'll be happy with your order.

Hey Guys I saw a picture, I thought it was in this thread where someone was using Brass thumb screws for the butt stock, the whole screw was brass. Does anyone have that photo or know where it is?

@MDT_Josh question, as I've only run AICS mags, I just got a new action that accepts AW magazines so I bought an AW magazine but it won't lock.

1588651798705.png

It looks like the feed lips on an AW magazine is a bit longer so that means I'd need a mag release that's shorter? I guess I won't be able to interchangeably run AICS and AW mags... was hoping AW for 10 round stages and AICS for when I need to do the 12-15's.

I'm new to centerfire, so sorry for my noob questions, first time doing this from going from a Tikka CTR to my first custom action.

Good question @littlepod ! What action and chassis combo are you running? Is your action cut to accept AW magazines?

Most R700 clone actions that are cut to accept AW magazines, when dropped into the ACC will latch AICS and AW magazines without issue :) If anything, you may need to remove a little bit of material off of the magazine latch (or we can send you a slightly shorter one), to account for the variation between the mag latch heights on the back of the magazines. You shouldn't have any issues being able to run both styles magazines in your gun and chassis, some setups require a little more tweaking than others though.

Josh

@MDT_Josh do ya'll offer longer guide rods for the cheek riser on the ACC? I'm siting at the 9.5 mark right now and a little more rod extending into the chassis would be nice to have. Everything is holding well so not a huge concern but I wanted to ask...

I'm running the MDT ACC with a Terminus Zeus right now. It is cut for AW mags, and the feed lips do curl in correctly into the action. It's pushed far enough up that it won't go any further, and if it did the bolt would be hitting the feed lips. So it seems a slightly shorter mag latch would really help.

I'll PM you. Thank you.
