A big FUCK YOU to Libertarians

Proud libertarian here. Sorry the Republican party gave up on small government (increased federal deficits and spending), restricting gun rights (unilaterally redefining the term machine gun to ban bump stocks), some advocating red flag laws (one even said to take the guns first then going to court), etc.

I will say Trump's crusades to eliminate red tape and unnecessary regulations should be praised. I really wish he had taken time to do things completely by the book so they wouldn't have gotten struck down (DACA and the APA in particular). However they were largely unsuccessful.

I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. It has only made the progression to the left slower when I want it reversed.

The Libertarian party is disjointed and unorganized, yes. But the hope is (at least MY hope) that Democrat or Republican parties will see a growing group that endorses expanding gun rights, legalization of victimless crimes, and smaller government and adjust their platforms accordingly to attract us to vote for their candidates.

Well.....you probably have a chance to vote change in the future if you would have voted for Trump. Since you unintentionally helped road block his re-election, you played a part in enabling full out election fraud in the future. If Biden gets it you can kiss goodbye to ever being able to vote in change. There won't be a 2022, 2024 or anything but Democratic fraudulant victories. They damn sure aren't going to play fair with the libertarian party. What is your party going to do? Scare them with the sheer numbers, power and momentum? How will that work out for you?

I'm a libertarian. Small L libertarian. I am also a supporter of the Constitution, which is a Libertarian Manifesto. The Libertarian party itself has gone completely whacko.

The struggle for liberty is taking place in the Republican Party and we are on the ropes, low on ammo, no relief coming with the exfil route in enemy hands. Our only hope at this point is calling in artillery on our own coordinates. The only silver lining on that very dark cloud is that scenario is the only reason we even got DJT.

In my state my choice in the Senate race was Lyndsey "Red Flag" Grahamnesty, a flaming marxist (but he assured everyone he's really a moderate) and a candidate I'd never heard of who ran on the Constitution Party ticket. I tried to help primary Grahamnesty but he got just over 50% so no runoff. That's where the fight is, in the damn primaries. Roll up your sleeves, quit your bitching and pitch in.

Lyndsey didn't deserve my vote. He talks a good talk every sixth year, but he's a swamp creature. His record renders him unfit. If he had lost by my one vote and that seat had flipped the Senate, would that make me a traitor?

You mean like the golden calf trump outlawing bump stocks and giving a green light to red flag laws? If you think anyone in washington gives a fuck about anyone’s precious right to bear arms, you’re just as fucking retarded as anyone on the blue side crying “RACIST!”
Tell it to Joe dumbass.
Do you think the bumbstock or red flag laws weren't pushed by the Dems?

You are the same stupid fucker that thinks stateless is a viable option.
I'll lay it out in crayon for ya, Dems pushed the bumpstock deal through with the help of short sighted Repubs
and Trump.
The red flag laws were ran through the same.
Dems/media sold this shit to you to weaken Trumps base and more than likely financed, through shell corps,
the idea of Jo to gullible fucks like you.

I’m the problem by not contributing to the problem? Yeah, sound logic. Like something my toddlers would think up

No. Every toddler on Earth whose asked if they want 5 pieces of candy or 0 pieces of candy chooses 5. They don't reply "No I want 10 or nothing." So I would say every toddler in this country makes better decisions than voting libertarian is.

Tbh, I dont blame the libertarians. vote how you want.

Id argue that it wasnt the time, but I suppose it never is, right?

Id also argue that it doesnt matter...whatever statement they were after is meaningless.

I agree with a few of their views but when it gets all the way to stateless, and anarchy I tend to check-out...

Your toddlers aren't as fucking stupid as you are and would have voted for Trump.

lol, and if they did they’d be going to bed without any dessert. Forever...

It’s pushed by both sides. Even your precious red team will sell you out for a tiny slice of the power pie.

Trump wasn't really part of the red team.
Read that for another month and don't get back to me, ever.

Trump being part of the team or not is irrelevant. Your precious red team doesn’t give a fuck about you. But there you go, voting for your own subjugation

I had this conversation the other day. I have no problem with third parties, and am actually a fan.. sure...

BUT.... the time for third party candidates is long before voting day. If you have a libertarian or constitution or Green Party candidate you like.... great..., have them get their message out, compete, .. gain momentum of both e siting parties, drive the debates...

Hell... if Perot hadn’t picked the original confused Biden candidate for his VP he likely would have won.

But if your plan is to do it on voting then, then your ideology has crossed the reality threshold... like it or not, your Libertarian vote IS a vote fir the opposite... a Dem. you may wish it wasn’t, and that’s great.. wish away. Your ideology is fir the two prior years... if you didn’t get it done... then Nov 3 is reality day.

Somewhere along the line these Libertarians have lost their way. My 20 year old step son has started calling himself a Libertarian. He shares all of the crazy shit on social media from Libertarian mouthpieces that glorifies killing cops, burning police stations, assaulting anyone who is perceived as being a racist, and a laundry list of other nonsense. All of these things are posted by groups claiming to be Libertarian. Everything I see points more toward Libertarians being aligned with Antifa than conservatives. Maybe that’s not what the group is about, but it is certainly the image being portrayed. As for the election, I will only blame the cheating commies who are trying to steal the election since we have a right to cast our vote for who we want. It does seem that if they were truly about Constitutionalism they would be as upset about the election as the rest of us, but instead they are still throwing insults at Trump and his supporters. Sounds a whole lot like the commie side to me.

Again, the Libertarian party, as a whole, is in disarray. Hell there's even the guy with a boot as a hat that wants to be president.

But the ideals are there- limited government intrusion in personal/professional lives, responsible spending, less red tape to start businesses, less red tape PROTECTING big businesses, personal responsibility and accountability for actions, etc.

I get that Biden/Harris is a shit ticket for all of that. And once upon a time, the Republican party actually stood for the above and I voted for them then.

But now it's different. Each candidate takes your vote as a blatant endorsement for everything they have done (if an incumbent) or want to do (if a new candidate).

They don't differentiate between "oh, they voted for me [Trump] because Biden is a mild mannered socialist with a borderline radical as VP. Maybe I shouldn't restrict gun rights with red flag laws. I mentioned it that one time and got re elected so they must want that."

Similarly I'm sure Biden got a lot of Fuck-Trump votes where people just couldn't stomach voting for him due to how he acts as a person. The issue I have with that is Biden/Harris is going to govern thinking "They voted for my pretty far left agenda. Clearly that's an endorsement and I must do all this bullshit.".

NONE of the candidates care about those nuances. They will take their interpretation and run with it. All the while eroding freedom in one form or another.

I don't advocate for a stateless society, abolishment of all government, etc. I just believe that *my* power is in my vote. I choose to endorse and support candidates because they are the best and will support my views/wishes/freedoms. And I refuse to throw my support behind candidates that harm my views/wishes/freedoms. Even if there is a worse devil on the ticket.

Maybe they didn’t want to compromise themselves by voting for a giant douche or a turd sandwich

Fuck you, snowflake. People are entitled to their own opinions- if you are too retarded to understand voting with principle over voting as a team effort, America really is screwed. That’s why we have such a swamp- dumbasses like you.

Looks several nerves were struck on this thread.
Way to flush them out Broncoaz.

Your step son is not a good sample of libertarianism at all.

Tell him to spend an entire year reading these two sites and then he’ll have a good idea of what libertarianism is actually about

Gary Johnson got around 5M votes. JoJo grabbed less than 2M. A lot of libertarians saw the importance and went Trump this time around.
But ultimately ever individual can vote for their chosen candidate. If you berate them for their choice aren’t you part of the problem?

A big "fuck you" is a little harsh to your fellow Americans exercising their right to vote their minds.

I don't typically respond to folks like you, OP.

I only chime in to say that I'm very happy to live in a place where I can vote for what I believe in.

Other than that, we'll be fine so long as you stay off my lawn.

I really do mean fuck you in this case. By voting the way they did they helped facilitate a Biden win. Do I need to start another thread as a bigger FUCK YOU! to all the democrats to even things out? Democrats also pissed me off voting for socialists, but I didn‘t see any threads calling out out the libertarian’s by name for their failure to protect our rights. Voting your mind is everyone’s individual choice, but I have a hard time believing that they are happier with Joe and the Ho over Trump that they facilitated. I agree with those who suggested voting your mind in the primaries and voting productively in the general.

This depends on what you mean by “productively“? I don’t think voting for just any ‘ol fucking clown that’s stood in front of the party to be productive. I think it’s incredibly irresponsible to enable such bad behavior from any political party; blues, reds, or whichever other colors the rest of the parties have

Anyone who didn’t vote their conscious on Nov 3 and voted based on fear is a fucking pussy.

I voted Trump and wish more would have. I have no qualms about those who chose not to based on their own ideas. That is what freedom is about, and why men have died all across this world for it. Sounds like some of you enjoy the boot on your back, as long as it’s your favorite boot.

What an embarrassment some of you in this thread are. If you are truly scared that your government is going to take your God given rights away, and your answer is being upset that someone didn’t vote for your candidate, you have bigger issues ahead of you. You lack the intestinal fortitude to truly enjoy freedom.

I'll gladly take a "thanks for nothing" and also thank others in kind. :^)

Thank you for restoring civility to the thread.

Bronco, don't look to anyone to blame for "failing to protect our rights." That's on you at the end of the day.

Wapiti, my suggestion is that you don't depend on a 401K. There are better ways to secure your future.

Productively means the least bad, I know that that sucks but we have a two party system for now. Deciding to do a protest vote for a party that won’t win rather than voting for either of the two party system candidates isn’t productive, it almost seems like a childish tantrum. I don’t particularly like Trump as a person, but despite his flaws he was the better of the two options for our rights.

I voted for the less bad candidate, not much more one man with one vote can do. If you’re referring to disobedience to the system, I guess I’m a pussy because I have too much to lose to go out in a blaze of glory. Unfortunately as a result of this election that may not always be the case. Thanks for nothing ;)

I was looking at election results in swing states and was disappointed to see that in several key races the libertarian vote for Jo Jorgensen was enough to make up the delta between Trump and Biden and keep Trump in office. Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Nevada are all close enough that the libertarian vote is more than the delta. The disappointing part is that most libertarians I have spoken with are much closer to the Republican party than the Democratic party. 1.74 million people wasted a vote either in protest or for a third party they knew couldn’t win.
The libertarian vote was at or lower than most years in most states. You’re not entitled to their votes and it would behoove you to court them, with policy, not demand they bend the knee.
Trigger warning OP... more disturbing than the measly 1.x% of libertarians “siphoning” votes in greater percentage from Trump is the 30% of eligible voters that didn’t vote at all.

I did my part in out Doug Jones (who is a nice guy BTW), let me vote my conscience the oval office!

Some of you guys are a bit unhinged. I think I’m gonna have to red flag you guys. Biden Harris 2020 Harris bipod 2021.

South Park was 100% right, in an election voters get to choose either a Duchebag or a Turd Sandwich. Eventually some people get tired of that, and gravitate towards the Roll of Toilet Paper in the corner. Yes the TP in the corner won’t get the media and financial support the Duchebag and Turd Sandwich are privileged with, but the TP in the corner doesn’t smell bad like the other two candidates.

The reality is that. if a third party candidate gets enough support to sway an election, then it is a reflection on the quality of the other candidates. Not on the integrity of the voters who choose to vote their convictions. Go find a better candidate that people actually want to vote for.

This past election is more a reflection of how voters responded to Trumps leadership, not a reflection on how far left the American voters have become. If the right would run a candidate who’s policy reflected 80% of Trumps, but communicated/lead more like Reagan. The left wouldn’t stand a chance. With or without a third party candidate.

So in 2024 if Republicans want to win the White House, they need to up their standards. But if they insist on running their regular dog shit, then I, as an occasional third party voter will seek out a better option.

Just speaking for myself here, but it's not a "protest vote" when I truly believe that the government should be less intrusive in a free person's life.

I don't normally chime in on threads like this, but I'll not be misrepresented as partaking in a childish tantrum.

Once again, it's just one person's belief, and I'm proud to live in a land where it can be expressed in a vote.

Anyone who enjoys shooting who voted libertarian in this election flushed their vote down the toilet. Along with their gun rights. The time to take a stand on shaping party platforms is NOT when its freedom vs Satan in a presidental election! There was no comparison between what the Republican side offered this election vs the Democrat side. None. We have a two party system. You don't like one, change it. Primary elections are the time for blindly voting on priciples. Not the general election when everything is on the line.

Flame suit on. Any person who likes freedom and voted Libertarian on Nov 3 was a moron.
Fuck off. You going to sit behind your computer and tell me I flushed my vote down the toilet after your fucking messiah banned bump stocks?

Ahh yes bumpstocks. The holy grail of excuses. Do you seriously think you improved the problem by withholding your vote from Trump for that, and in consequence allowing Biden, who wants full blow ban of everything, to prevail?

Wouldn't it make more sense to vote for the candidate that will do the least destruction to 2A in the general election, and THEN work towards nominating future candidates that support expanding gun rights to your desired level? How the hell is a Biden presidency a win for Libertarianism? Cause that's what you voted for. Toilet. Thats exactly what you did. When given the choice between mostly freedom, and socialism, you chose toilet.

Pretty much what i meant by not outsmarting yourself...

So, add semi autos to the bump stock ban.

Win?

The time for third parties, and voting on pure principle is the primaries. Thats when you make the party what you want it to be. You do the best you can with that, and if you're lucky, you move the needle right a little. But when it comes to general elections, you have to be realistic about the consequences of your vote.

I'll add that I do not support the bumpstock ban. I don't agree with Trump on everything, by a longshot. But I choose to support a candidate who isn't part of the rotting bloated Washington carcass. They hate him, included some republicans. I like that. And by any measure, he has governed as mostly a conservative, whether he truly is one or not. I also like that. And I'll choose that 1,000,000 times over communism, socialism, leftism, whatever label you want to use, in a general election.

As Michael Medved calls them the "losertarion party" have been a problem for conservatives for years. A lot of them have really wacky ideas. I'm all for less government, especially at the Fed level but you're not going to get there voting for obvious losers.

This is exactly right.
My first opportunity to vote was Reagan's first term. I voted for him then and again 4 years later.
Through my 20's, I devoutly considered myself an independent. I mean, to be honest, I even voted for a Democrat Sheriff and if that man were alive and running today, I'd vote for him again. But I found myself far more often than not leaning far more right than the Democrats. I really identified with the ideology of the Libertarian's and decided I'd vote for the Libertarian when possible.
Then Obama ran.
I voted against him and for McCain...but I fucking hated Backblast Johnny. I decided that the other candidates (I don't recall now) didn't have a chance and voting my conscience would do nothing to defeat Obama.
Repeat performance in 2012 and 2016. Trump was not my first choice but I really hate HRC. This time around I voted FOR Trump.
At some point, maybe you can vote your conscience or morals or whatever, maybe during the first go around, but at some point, you gotta make your vote count to defeat the sorry MF that you do NOT want to win and, unfortunately or whatever, that means choosing to vote for one of the 2 major parties.
