Tikka T3 Thread

Any issues with fitment of action to chassis? Any need to bed at all?
Also, does bravo come with action screws? Probably a dumb question.
no problems with fitment
no bedding needed
yes has action screws

Hey guys I have my CTR in a MDT ACC currently but I like the feel of a stock better. I’m thinking of selling the ACC and picking up a KRG Bravo. Any of you Bravo owners out there able to tell me how you like them? Thanks for the info guys!
I have both a Bravo and an AAC. I started out with my 6.5 CM CTR in the Bravo because the OEM stock didn’t fit right, even with a Triad Cheek riser. It was functional and shot well, but it just wasn’t “Right”. This barreled action got moved to the ACC in early 2019, so I bought a T3 in .223 a couple of months later to put in the Bravo.
The bravo isn’t as adjustable as the ACC, so getting the bravo set up is more of a “Pretty Close, much better than the OEM stock” where as with the ACC and the vertical grip, you can adjust it to fit like that well broken in Lazy BoyRecliner.
The ACC is a couple of pounds heavier than the Bravo, so if you’re going to be carrying the rifle long distances in mountainous terrain, the Bravo is probably a better choice.

Bravo is way better than the plastic stock that came with my CTR and T1x, but still doesnt feel 100% right to me. Think I'll be trying an ACC down the line.

Also, Tim over at Solid Accuracy turned my T3X into a hammer. 26" Criterion bull barrel in .308, 10tw. Got some handloads to try out next, 175gr SMKs and 178gr Amax over Varget.

Here's a pic of the rifle and a 300yd 4shot group with factory 175 FGMM.

Ok Tikka guru's I have a plan but have a question on if it will work.

I'm setup for 308 and have been loading 308 for a little while now and don't want to jump into another caliber right now.

So my plan is, buy a Tikka rifle in 308, practice, get it all figured out and when I get comfortable with it and ready I'll find and shoot a PRS match (there's none around here so when I go to one I really want to know what I'm doing).

My question is, if I have a .308 Tikka, is the barrel the only thing I have to change to make it a 6.5 creedmoor?

Yes, that is correct, bolt face and mags are the same.

Whatever you decide to do I would wait on buying the bolt for a little bit. LRI is supposed to be finishing up aftermarket Tikka bolts soon.

Are there any further details about this? Tried the forum and google search and nothing turned up. Not the first time I've seen mention of this though.

Hunting rig (t3x superlight) is a shooter with the Hornady 162 eld-x in 7mag.

My eyes aren’t great and this was shot with a SWFA 3-9 HD. Better than i expected.

Hard to imagine a better value from the factory than a tikka.

Here is what we have so far. I guess my forum search foo is better. It was posted by Chad himself so that narrows it down alot.
Over the last couple years now we've had multiple (hundreds, thousands maybe) requests from the Tikka crowd to answer the need for two things:

1. Sort out the ability to alter the bolt face on the T3.
2. Offer OEM quality T3 replacement bolts.

Well....that box is now being checked. A big ol truckload of steel is due to be delivered very soon so that the production growing pains can be sorted out. The bulk of the engineering work is already done.

So, I hope you all were serious cause they are coming!

Fall, 2020.
We are hoping for fall of this year. I realize that's a bit vague, but a job like this isn't exactly trivial. My biggest issue is ensuring the proper procedures and processes are in place so that things work smoothly. As it moves forward we'll start working on a release date.

C.
Just heard from Longrifles Inc. Aparently aftermarket tikka bolts are off to heat treat, and will be ready to drop once they get back from that.

Buckle up!

I bought this thing in February and never shot it. I tried a stock and chassis and 2 different scopes but never got ambitious enough to shoot it. It was back in the factory stock waiting for me to get ambitious enough to sell it. My can cleared and I realized this was the only “deer rifle” in my safe that I could use it on. So Thursday night I mounted up an old Leupold in some parts box rings and threw together some middle of the road 140gr ELDM with some RL22 I had laying around. Saturday I shot it....It’s an absolute hammer! Sub half MOA at 100 and 200 and consistent hits at 500 on a c zone using Kentucky windage with a 9X duplex.

I can’t believe I let this thing sit in the safe that long!

Does anyone know if you can get the Manners Compact Stock custom ordered for a Tikka? It is not an option on the web site. Would much rather go that way vs a boyds at one for a youth hunting rifle set up I am looking into.

Follow-up from my previous post. Preferred Barrel Blanks is now doing 20 cal barrels. They will do a prefit 20 Vartarg for a Tikka. Ordered.

I’m going to build a magazine holder that will allow my to fit a CZ527 221 Fireball magazine into the CTR mag well. The CZ mag will hold and feed the Fireball/VarTarg case properly, and the holder will allow it to locate and lock into the CTR magwell correctly. The Tikka T3x 223 bolt face will feed and eject the case properly. I think this project will produce a nice repeater. Goal is an accurate rifle between 223 and 22LR. CFE BLK powder, Lapua 221 Fireball brass, Sierra 32 and 39gr BlitzKings, 1:11” twist 22” barrel. Pics to follow in 2 months when the barrel arrives.

Follow-up on my 20 VarTarg Tikka. Barrel arrived from Preferred Barrel Blanks, and really looks nice! Great fit and finish, chambered for 20 VarTarg with a .235” neck, which the loaded rounds measure .232” before firing. Add this rifle to the list, I have now popped off 4 Tikka factory barrels and 2 Sako TRG barrels with a Brownells universal action wrench. Three whacks with a hammer and the wrench broke the action loose.

Fitted up the new barrel, torque to 100 ft/lbs with SAC action wrench. Trip to the range the next day. Turns out the 20VT barrel is pretty accurate. Detailed load development to follow. Best news is the 20VT feeds great out of the modified CZ527 magazines. If I run the bolt briskly, they feed and eject properly. If I run the bolt slowly, the cases nose dive out of the magazine, because the distance from the feed lips to the chamber is too far for the short VT cartridge.

I’m calling the 20 VarTarg experiment on the 223 Tikka a success!

any talk of tikka ctr in LEFTY in other than .223 here in the states? would like the threaded barrel and comb/cheekpiece; hunting.

They made a handful of Tikka compact stocks, but I don't think they will again. Call and bug them. If another run does happen, I'd like one.

I think manners did the same with the eh1 as well cause they wouldn’t make me one any longer when I asked. Said the tikka tang required them to build up the back of the inlet.

I do hope they someday make a tikka eh1 again. Especially with the mini chassis. I’d be moving some hunting rifles over from mcmillan.

Yep, I had one of those EH1s. The tang was indeed built up. Manners required the stock to the painted, not an exposed fiber finish.

I know there's a stickied thread, but I'm away from home, and I can't measure. I have a T3X which I'm going to drop in a KRG Bravo, with a 20MOA Area419 base. What size rings should I be looking at with an Ares ETR (56mm objective lens, I believe the total diameter is 61mm)

I tried .92" 34mm PMR rings on a CTR with factory barrel and factory 0 MOA rail and my Midas Tac 5-25 56mm objective hit the barrel. They were too low. I'm now using 1.26" PMR rings and it gives me plenty of room for future scope caps even after rebarreling with a 1" bull barrel.

@BigTimeMediocrity i think @MC56 is correct here due to the TAC being shorter than the ETR. I would go with 1” or 1.1”. If you have adjustable cheek piece then going to 1.5” will not hurt.

Fwiw Iv got 2900 with my 22” lite shooting 75/77s, this is reloading. Nodes ended up being 2750-2800 dependent on bullet. The stock barrel has a pretty tight throat leaving a lot of bullet in the case.

Also on a side note. Took two deer in MT already this year with a 77tmk loaded to 2750 in my 223. Worked awesome. Will be carrying it for gun season while I continue to wait for my 6.5 CM tikka to come back with hopefully a good barrel this time.View attachment 7469910

This rifle shoots 77tmk better than anything Iv loaded in it. Not uncommon to put a 3/4” dot out for zero confirmation and put them all in there. Continues to be the gun I trust the most to put a shot where it needs to be within 500 yards.

How different is the SMK from the TMK? My 223 shoots 77 SMK bullets so accurate it's scary. I'm kinda curious about trying to take a deer with that rifle but not 100% sure. Having a 6.5CM and a 308, I rarely grab the 223.

I have not heard good about the normal smk when it comes to terminal performance . I was initially very put off about shooting deer with my 223, but read how well the 77 tmk worked. When this season rolled around and my main rifle still being at the builder due to a bad barrel on the first go, I was stuck with 223 or carrying my match rifle. My tikka shot the 77 smk pretty well, but shoots the tmk even better. The tmk has a great BC as well. Only problem is you will likely need to reload for it, and some extra mag space is nice for it as well.

After hunting with the 77tmk I have no worries. I’ll be carrying it this weekend for the WI gun deer season. After seeing what they did on a decent sized deer at 250 yards, going through about 15” of deer, and leaving a wound larger than any deer Iv ever shot with a bonded or mono bullet, I’m willing to keep shooting them. Also punched through a shoulder of a doe at 280.

Kind of a kick in the balls paying 30 cents a bullet but oh well

I think we are in the same boat, and looks like the LH TAC 1 is about the best bang for the buck for us that were blessed
i actually want this for a hunting application. even if the tac could be fit into an aftermarket hunting stock, that's getting pretty spendy at that point. t3x + threaded for can or brake + comb = perfect for me...

These two rifles look beautiful, great for taking on a hunt for sure.

I'm really interested in the suppressed rifle, curious what that color green is called.
I don’t know? It’s the dark green Krylon camo paint. I just threw that on there because the factory stock was so damn slippery! The whole thing was set up in a rush.

But it turns out it shoots so well that I robbed a scope off another rifle to have it upgraded before this Saturday.

Zeroed, Chono-ed, and confirmed @ 100, 200, 307, and 660. I continue to be impressed how little 140gr ELD-Ms are affected by wind. Love the LHT on a hunting rifle.

I have shot some coyotes with the IMI 77gr Razor Core (77gr SMK) out of my 18" AR. They are devastating on them and not fur friendly. Hit one facing me at 225 and it left a hole in his hip the size of my fist. Hit another at 175 in the neck broadside (could only see his head and neck) and had the same results. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a big Kansas deer with them at 200 or more.

Just dropped mine off at the pipe fitter for a new barrel. Hawk Hill 7.5 twist 6BRA.

Does anyone have a Tikka .223 in a J Allen chassis?
What magazine are you using? What problems may have occured?

I have a J Allen chassis laying around for a Tikka. I ordered one for rem700 platform but could only get one for Tikka after they went out of business. It was either that or lose my money. Anyway, I thought it was about time to put that chassis to use. Just got to see what works best.

Ok I give up, sorry to keep asking dumb questions. I've been searching for the last three days but ended up with more questions than answers.

I ordered my scope so thats my start. Now I need to figure out witch rifle to get.

I have a few questions about this rifle here https://www.eurooptic.com/JRTXE316-Tikka-Tikka-T3x-Lite-308-Win-SYN-224--barrel-MPN-JR.aspx

1. Can I just put a picatinny rail on top and mount my scope?
2. Is there 10 round mags available for it and witch ones are they? Is it the ctr mags?
3. If I get the urge will it fit in the MDT ACC chassis and use their mags?
4. Does anyplace still sell that rifle?

I will answer what I can.
1. yes
2. Not that I know of. You can get 5 round mags for it though. CTR mags wont work unless you put it in a CTR stock and use CTR bottom metal.
3. Yes it will fit in a MDT chassis and there mags should work
4. Not sure
