Your scale pick for $100 or less

MyWeigh Gempro250 has worked well for me. You can find them used for right around $100.

When I first started loading for handgun cartridges I bought a Frankford Arsenal DS-750 pocket scale and it's surprisingly accurate and repeatable. I still use it to double check when things don't seem quite right. I think I paid about $30 for it 15 years ago. Just looked it up on Amazon and it's still about $30.

I have checked this thing with the lyman check weight kit and it measures legit down to .02 accurately. It counts each kernel of H4350. For 18 bucks it's super legit.
Pretty amazing I just received this one today and compared it against Ohaus and Redding....wow. Hope it stays this way. I mean I can eyeball the beam to maybe .05 or .025 if I'm really focusing, but the digital seemed to be within .05 I did about 20 drops.

I picked up a sweet scale on Ebay. Really nice at $150.

There were many more available for less.

Great "Made in the USA" older model OHaus stuff better than you will buy today.

I've checked every powder charge from my intellidropper with it sooooo around 2000 counting random auto drum checks as well and it's still dead on within .02ish and I check it against my 505 every once in a while just for my OCD lol

Sorry it took so long for my reply. I was waiting on a set of check weights to test the accuracy of the scale. More on those weights in a bit.
The fit and finish of the scale is ok. Blems in the paint but I guess this is a case of you get what you pay for. On a level bench I nearly ran out of adjustment to zero the scale.
However at the end of the day it's as accurate, or maybe more so then my charge master light. It confirmed the 20g check weights actually weigh 20.2g (thanks lymanm).
I'll try to add some pics to show the Blems in the fit and finish.

If it's anything like my one (much older than this) you'll need to take some weight out of the part the pan sits in, mine had what I assume was small lead shot in it. I also had to bend the pan hanger slightly as the pan/weight holder would hit the bench.

I got my wife to measure check some powder I weighed on a scientific scale that does 0.0001 grams and it was extremely accurate, far better than I expected.

I hate to burst your bubble...that scale may indeed be a fine accurate scale, but it is not an Ohaus 505. It is a fake made from an RCBS chinese scale.

This is a vintage Ohause 505:

So it's a Chinese fake of a scale Ohaus now has manufactured for them...... in...China.
Sounds like a double negative to me. :)
I sent Ohaus an email asking if the scale I received fromantic Amazon was a fake. Don't expect to hear back from them.
Guess I saved the box for a reason.

I am sure you have found something by now. But I will post my choice for a good cheap scale. Do those words work together? Ok I suggest the newacalox scale for about $24. I have check weights and the scale reads within +/- .02 of the cert sheet . It works pretty good for trickling and it repeats very well. If you take the pan off and set it back down it will be within the +/- .02. Just so you know I have been reloading for over 30 years and still learning. Also this my first time to post here so if I have done this wrong just let me know.

Rather than purchasing a scale to check another scale (?if they differ, then what?), I'd invest in a certified calibration weight instead. Get something that weighs in the neighborhood of your charge weight and certified Class F1 or better.

I really hate to say this but [deep breath] the ones from China off Ebay are considerably less expensive and just as good as what you can get in the states. I paid about $20 for a weight that would cost more than $100 from a US or European manufacturer. I checked it with two high end lab balances, and the weight was dead on.

I do agree. A set of check weights are as important as the scale. How can you say a scale is accurate without a standard . Most scales will repeat within the specs , but this don't mean the weight is true.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:....it's something I use for a quick check if I have the FX filled with a different powder, and don't want to unload it. I have a couple Culver powder measures that are pretty consistent once set for throwing charges for my .223. Just loaded 250 rounds of .284 tonight using the FX.
Cheers
