Prayer Request Thread

Made it through my procedure and I am home. A lot less intrusive than I thought. My arm is just wrapped, no big deal. I was told that I should see improvement over the next 2 weeks. I guess it will become painful after the meds wear off, but so far, so good!!!

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, what ever they use to knock you out has you on cloud 9 for about a day and a half. When they wear off, not so much.

If y’all can kindly keep my wife and I in your prayers, I’d greatly appreciate it. We just had our retrieval day with IVF, and so far 4, maybe 5 eggs have fertilized. God willing, we implant Wednesday, and after over 2 years, we will finally be pregnant.

You keep saying 'we' but you didnt say which one of you is carrying the kid? ;) 😂

Jest funnin ya, good luck with all.

I feel like the hide is a big family. I don't participate in any other social media platform but the hide does have a strange sense of home. We may all come from different backgrounds, different generations, different states and countries but here we share a common ground in our defense of the 2nd Amendment and our love for freedom.
God bless you brothers

I like this on prayer. Different people have different beliefs and opinions and that is perfectly fine.

As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are His children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part (Matt. 7:7–11). Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship. Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them. Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings.
There are many passages in the New Testament that teach the duty of prayer (Matt. 7:7; 26:41; Luke 18:1; 21:36; Eph. 6:18; Philip. 4:6; Col. 4:2; 1 Thes. 5:17, 25; 1 Tim. 2:1, 8). Christians are taught to pray in Christ’s name (John 14:13–14; 15:7, 16; 16:23–24). We pray in Christ’s name when our mind is the mind of Christ, and our wishes the wishes of Christ—when His words abide in us (John 15:7). We then ask for things it is possible for God to grant. Many prayers remain unanswered because they are not in Christ’s name at all; they in no way represent His mind but spring out of the selfishness of man’s heart.

Since this is a thread about 'Prayer' I thought it might be interesting to examine just what prayer is. Bear with me.

One definition, and this one seems adequate, is as follows:

Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication. In the narrow sense, the term refers to an act of supplication or intercession directed towards a deity (a god), or a deified ancestor. (From Wikipedia)

So by that definition, and by most of what Ive witnessed of 'prayers' they are supplications to a deity to affect the outcome of a situation. Asking God to do something, heal the sick, save someone in trouble, etc. However, if one accepts that said Deity is all knowing, all powerful, and has it all in the palm of their hand, then they already have a (perfect) plan and for us to ask them to alter it is folly...asking God to alter Its perfect will. DOH!

Where does that leave us? Right square in the fact that Christ gave us power do do all those things. not for us to sit around and ask a Deity to do it. So when I offer a prayer for healing, or what have you, instead of asking God to heal someone, I envision them a whole and send the command that "You are made whole." Im not asking, Im commanding the power (of perfect Love) given to me, as Christ commanded us to. Perhaps see it as 'directed thought'.

I asked from the beginning to only ask for prayers, not a discussion on religion or what makes a prayer. Please confine your dialog to the spirit of the thread.

Fair enough, though I dont think I was in violation of the 'spirit' I understand your request and am deleting mine.

I'm requesting prayers for Florence K. my wife's grandmother. "Nana", as our daughters call her, is in her 80's and has quite a few pre-existing issues. She was recently in the hospital for a UTI and earlier this past week she tested positive for Covid. We're not sure where it was contracted however during the past couple of days her condition has declined. She is a woman of faith and could a few extra prayers during this time. Thanks!

@BullGear how are you doing?

Pain got so bad yesterday, I had to go to the ER. They did a cat scan and found nothing. Gave me a few meds and sent me on my way, still in pain. I slept from 7pm to 7:30 this morning. I guess I'll have to make an appointment to see a GI doctor.

I've lost about 14 lbs since Dec 4th. Very weak, with no appetite.

Keep those prayers coming!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!

OK guys, Im really on my own.I have been taking care of my elderly mom, in her 80's, who suffered a wicked fall in my kitchen this week. Took her to local ER because I was sure she had broken bones, they did a head/neck CT and shoulder/arm films that were negative and discharged her from ER. I took her back in the morning and told them they were wrong. Don't even get me started on the attitude of the triage nurse "everything (tests) are negative and you are here again WHY?" Well, she has broken ribs, broken scapula, broken clavicle and pulmonary contusion. She was transferred to a trauma-capable hospital but the trauma surgeon didn't want to do anything because of here age. So they are letting her lay her in pain - they wouldn't give her any pain meds until yesterday. Please pray for us.

My chemo is over and I start radiation on the 4th. Suffering from side effects from the chemo and Neulasta and they seem to be getting worse. Feeling a bit depressed. Please pray that the radiation won't be as bad as the chemo and that I can keep my eyes on the Lord. Have a blessed New year.

I got great news from my insurance company today. They have approved my application for a pancreas/kidney transplant. I will now have to get the approval from the hospital to be placed on this new list.

What makes this such great news is that of course this should cure my diabetes and kidney disease but it take me to another waiting list. The kidney list will probably take up to 7 years because of my blood type, but being on the pancreas/kidney list, the time is cut down to 2-3 years.

Praise God!

Now let's hope the hospital is willing to put me on the new list!

Also a request. Could requester put at least a first name for the person that needs prayers? That matters and makes it more meaningfully en

My brother donated one of his kidneys to his daughter years ago. Each of us has two although only one is needed, so if you could find a relative with the same blood type and they were willing to donate one it would even be likely that there were less complications, and I do believe the waiting list would no longer apply; but then again it's been a good long while since I left nursing. Been praying for you, and will continue to do so until you're healed brother.

I know and my family does get upset with me. But I'm not taking a kidney from a family member. All are young and have their lives ahead of them. Anything could happen and I couldn't live with myself if they gave 1 away and then needed 1 in the future.

Thanks you!!!

I can see your point, however my family came to a different conclusion to trust in the Lord's provision; and while it was my niece's blessing to receive, my brother has considered himself even more blessed ever since that he was able to truly give of himself, save her life and be able to have her around because of his act of love. It deepened their familial bond of love, and reassured the rest of us where our hope, and strength lies.
Acts 20:35
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

Thanks for everyone's prayers and please keep 'em coming. An update: after 10 days in the hospital, with many days & nights by her side, the SW informed me they were discharging my mom to the nursing home in my town responsible for over 95% of my county's COVID deaths. Unacceptable, so of course I had to bring her home. Very challenged. The lung contusion led to a pneumonia that they didn't feel she should have antibiotics to treat. Fortunately my dog recently had an ER trip and I had some leftover Augmentin that knocked down her nasty phlegm in 2 days. She continues to deteriorate, now a failure-to-thrive (not eating or drinking much). The dehydration has led to hallucinations and forgetting things like her husband died 9 years ago. I had to take her to an ER 5 days ago and got shit from the ER doc because she didn't feel she should be a full code (she is still verbally expressing she wants to live). Gonna try to get her an IV today or tomorrow and then a shower tonite..I had previously worked in hospice for a year and I do see the signs.

Lord, we lift up UKDslayer and his mother, and lay them at your feet. May you have mercy on them both, give them peace and comfort, and deliver them both through this trial. Amein.

If your Mom can drink it would be better to give her oral fluids than stick her with a needle when her immune system is already struggling. An un-monitored IV can be another possible infection site she doesn't need. Plenty of water and some Gatorade, or other hydration drinks with added electrolytes, will do the trick if she is conscious and willing to drink. Continuing to pray for her, and for you.🙏👍

Prayers for my wife and her family please, her mother passed away this morning... Sudden, quick.

She was a tough lady, escaped Hungary during the revolution. Through mine fields, barbed wire fences, guard towers, on a train stolen by her tough as nails husband... The stories these two told could've been Hollywood movies. Nothing in this life was too hard for her.

They were brought to America, where they flourished, amassing wealth and accomplishing more in their life then most immigrants - they were truly blessed with an unbeatable work ethic and a never quit attitude. They both taught me a lot.

She died the way she wanted to - in the house on the property they built and developed. She wasn't about to give the hospitals she hated another thin red dime... We should all be so lucky to go the way she did.

Kathy, rest in peace. The world will miss you.

Will keep your wife and your whole family in prayer sounds like your mother-in-law had a lot in common with my mother who shared her first name, and who also had escaped communist rule in Germany fleeing from the Russians through minefields and barbed wire under machine gun fire, after the U.S. Army withdrew from previously held territory in accordance with Allied treaties. Not one of my Army's finer moments.

I know this is the bear pit and I spar with the best of them. But lately, I need help. If you would--put in a word for me.

Dear Lord, most gracious Heavenly Father, I come to you at this time to ask that will look over those who have asked for your help. I pray that those in need will come to you with open hearts and acknowledge you as their savior. Without you dear Lord, we are are lost. For those who need You more today, I ask You to look after Your flock and guide them to You. I know You will answer those prayers that are given with a clear heart dear Lord. I ask that those who find You today will learn just how great You are. Please be with us all, guide us and protect us. Lead us and love us in a way that can never be described in humanly words.

Dear Lord, forgive us ALL of our sins. In Jesus' name I prayer, AMEN.

Less than a week after her mother dies, my wife's Dad passes away... Could use some of my righteous brethren praying for my girl right about now. She's going through hell.

Her Dad was a badass, utter badass. I'll share some stories later.

Thanks y'all, appreciate it

RIP Josef

Prayers on the way. Losing both parents in such a short time is rough. When my mother got admitted to the hospital after a triple heart attack and died five days later I was denied going on emergency leave from overseas because I was deemed "mission essential". Things like that hit you like a ton of bricks and stay with you for a good long while. Will be praying for her to be able to recall the meaningful conversations she had with her dad, and mother, and to find consolation that they are with the Lord and re-united again.

Thank you - for your service, your prayers, and your kind words.

The prayers of a righteous man availeth much...

I got behind on this thread, but prayers sent for all who asked. @HiDesertELR I can't imagine losing both parents so close together. I lost my Dad, little brother and dog in one year and that was tough. Praying your wife will be comforted by God and know his peace.

My BIL, who recently had a kidney transplant, has been told his Light Chain Myeloma has resurfaced and that he'll have to do chemo again. He and his wife, who donated the kidney, could use your prayers.

My neuropathy from chemo/radiation has worsened and my taste still hasn't returned, so I would appreciate some prayer. I'm definitely realizing, more and more, that I'm just a pilgrim passing through this world.

Much appreciated @Sgt47, thank you.

Prayers coming your way...

Lord above, I lift these men and their families up to you and lay them at your feet. I pray they will all feel your comfort, peace and presence in their lives, and that you would continue your good work in them, conforming them to the image of your son Jesus. I pray they never fail in their faith, and to always keep their focus on you, fighting their battles on their knees, and with all supplication and thanksgiving, make their requests known to you. You never promised our lives would be a rose garden, but you did promise to never leave or forsake us - so we're holding you to that. Thank you Lord, with all humility and confidence I pray all of these things in Jesus name, Amein!

post edit - My wife has indeed suffered a great loss, but I'm here to tell y'all, I married an amazing woman. By God's grace, she's making it through all of this with a fortitude that can only be the hand of the Living God. Witnessing Him working in your house, like this, is.... words can't describe it. I fully believe all of your prayers for her have been have been heard, and I can't thank y'all enough for them.

Looking for a little prayer for my doctor's appointment tomorrow. It's a Pain Management Specialist for my back. The sad part is they changed it from an in office appointment to a tele-visit.

I'm not sure how he's going to be able to examine me through a zoom conference call, but I'm hoping he can do something.

Prayers going up for you and the doc. You should be able to probably schedule a real visit once he or she realizes the seriousness of the situation? I went to one several years ago and he set me up for testing my nervous system. That provided a map of my nervous system which he used to diagnose the nerves being pinched. I found out that my chiropractor could fix me up after seeing the test results. Just don't let them get you started on pain meds unless you're in desperate need.

Prayers up brother...

Sometimes the pain management routines are something you can start on your own, depending on your injury.

Good luck, God speed, and we'll be praying for ya's.

This is a recurring procedure I have done ever 12-16 months. I go in and the doc puts 4 electrodes in my back l3-l4 and l4-l5. He turns on the machine and it burns my nerves going through my spine. Then he does the other side and I'm done. Pain usually goes away in about 2 weeks.

Facet Rhizotomy.
