Theis,

Any hope of resurrecting your ballistic app with the upcoming changes?

Unfortunately, this is not on the radar for the foreseeable future. We have quite a few projects to get through. Since there are so many very good apps and devices already on the market, this has been shelved indefintitely.

We personally recommend Applied Ballistics.

Beat me to it…wife is slave driving this morning.

Hope these products include a full kit of track suits with ammo holders, like a pocket protector for ammo🤣

Little testing info, we have been shooting different kinds of 338lm factory and brass mfg reloads lately testing everything we can think of before roll out.

Won’t throw a MFG under the bus but one factory Ammo is out of spec OAL.

Need to get on the phone with them on Monday and see what’s up.

As well as one muzz brake couldn’t take the pounding.

Things you think wouldn’t happen always happen.

We want all this vetted out before you guys get your hands on them or start asking recommendations for other gear or accessories.

Thanks

Which brake? Hoping it’s not the one I wanted to use

I’d have to agree with the 300nm

I wasn’t totally sold until I saw it in person.

Inside 1800-2000 yards it’s very hard to beat the accuracy/ exterior ballistic matrix of the 300nm.

I joke around calling it “1 mile medicine”.

Any update on deliveries?

Any update on deliveries?

I’m doing some final testing on everything (extraction, fit/finish, operation, coating wear, etc) into next week. As well as finalizing the small yet very important things such as packing and shipping.

If the move goes according to schedule we should have a few out by Christmas, and then picking up speed every week from then on as we solidify the location and logistics of the surrounding area.

Not being a smartass here. I’m sure they will run well like Berger always do.

For the newer LRHT bullets, their BC is pretty close to reality. So, just input the expected speed and you have a very close estimate.
Not being a smart ass at all. It’s always a matter of trade off, do you run a lighter bullet faster or heavy bullet slower with higher BC and catch up (velocity)to the lighter bullet down range. The 215’s seem to be a sweet spot with the 300norma, but the bc with the 208’s looks good.

From what I’ve seen and played with so far…regular pressures with quality match bullets, speed doesn’t make up the difference.

We might find a perfect combination during testing but…

The lighter bullets are “superior” in close but after 2/3-3/4 of the cartridges performance envelope the better bc takes over.

What we have seen is a trend in the pushing of solids/monos at higher pressures seem to have merit in the lighter faster is better.

More to come

With the risk of not being completely helpful “it depends.”

If it’s a mission specific goal, you can really tailor your ammo nicely.

Things such as:

Distance
Target size
Self spotting (the longer the distance, the less recoil matters for self spotting. But at the same time, it’s distance and harder to see. So if you’re self spotting, you possibly want less recoil, but at the same time you want something that will be easy to see either in the air or on impact).

And the list could go on and on and on.

If you’re looking to make something more all around or generalized, then you’re going to have to really look in the middle ground for it all.

Sometimes speed can make up for things, sometimes not. Multiple factors go into that as well. Such as pressuring out or just wanting to stay in a more stable velocity zone. Sometimes you can juice it up and sometimes not.

These are the things that are the “tricky” part about ammo. Making the decisions of what/how. Once you know what your end goal is, making ammo to fit that is fairly straightforward.

Did you guys ever test those Tungsten printed cases?

Any news on the Swiss P ?

ETA: I should first ask if that mag conversion kit is needed to make the Hoplite rifle "caliber swappable", or if the kit is meant as an upgrade for owners of other brand rifles? Thanx

(I can't think of the name of your conversion kit, but how close to "ready to ship" are the "caliber changeable magazines and kits"? Thnx)

Just wanted to say Thank You. You'll know what we mean. Hopefully in the near future we will be blown away. Phantomskittles is still wanting to show me his new gun will beat my old Savage 338.

Is the magazine conversion kit needed to make the Hoplite rifle "caliber swappable", or is the kit meant for owners of other brand rifles? Thanx

We’ll have some updates here pretty soon.

But to answer the first question, yes, you’d need a kit to run different cartridges that use different bolt heads.

For example, if you have and aspis with a .540 bolt face, you can run anything like 300 prc and 300 win mag out of that bolt and magazine.

But if you wanted to run say a 6cm, you’d need a kit with a .473 bolt along with the proper magazine.

When the time comes, he should get our 300prc.

Have david load up some Ammo…sorry to say, it’s over for your 338

At the expo

Barrel wasn’t broken in

David did Load development in about 1 hour at the most

Loaded some A tips..not even pushing them at all

That rifle shot waaay under 1moa and multiple .5 moa at 1k with dozens of shooters over 2 days.

Frank then had it past 1800 the day after

So, was Theis banished to the hinterlands????

Not a rifle for me, particularly, but I did really enjoy Theis updates, pics, etc and that has seemed to tail off a lot since his....dunno, reassignment???

Cheers
