    Rifle Scopes Scope clearance/ring height

I reviewed the sticky on this subject, but I just wanted to check my math and make sure that there wouldn't be a problem with the level of clearance. I have a Bushnell 4200 with a 54 mm bell diameter. I am putting it on a Larue 20 moa base that is .321 inches which is 8.1534 mm. I want to...

Gunsmithing Putting on a new stock/problem with bedding

Re: Putting on a new stock I removed all of the old bedding but I am still having a problem. The barreled action will not center right into the stock so the edges of the bottom metal cause the bolt catch to bind. As a result, I can't pull the trigger or put the bolt back into place.

Suppressors Best handgun for a corrosive enviornment?

Re: Best handgun for a corrosive enviornment? Glock. The other guns that people have referenced would also be good choices.

Gunsmithing Putting on a new stock/problem with bedding

Re: Putting on a new stock No offense taken. I actually can be pretty handy, I think I can just be overly cautious when firearms are involved. Plus, although I can access the site, the pictures are blocked at the moment so I can't review them right now so I just have the description. My...

Gunsmithing Putting on a new stock/problem with bedding

Re: Putting on a new stock I have a quick question about bedding it. I know that there is an entire sticky devoted to how to bed your rifle, but my question is how much expertise do you need to have to successfully bed a rifle? This is the second precision rifle I have owned but the first...

Gunsmithing Putting on a new stock/problem with bedding

Re: Putting on a new stock I was afraid that this was going to be the answer. I have looked and it seems that the easiest way to remove bedding is to use a dremel. Is there anything that I need to watch for and be careful about because I'm always nervous about taking a dremel to any firearm...

Gunsmithing Putting on a new stock/problem with bedding

Re: Putting on a new stock I checked quickly this morning and it appears the problem may be that the action screw in the back and the pillar are not aligned correctly. They seem to be off by a very small margin but it seems enough to keep the screw from aligning correctly. Would it work to...

Gunsmithing Putting on a new stock/problem with bedding

I have a Remington SPS Tactical that I purchased a take off HS stock for to replace the original hogue stock. The take off stock has been bedded for a 700 Synthetic varmint in it. I went to drop in my action and the back screw by the trigger guard is too short to reach the back of the action...

need help with bad gunbroker purchase

Re: need help with bad gunbroker purchase It depends on lawyers in your area, but around here it generally costs $150-$200 for an initial meeting to discuss options and then sending a letter.

No SCAR or ACR? US Army issuing RFP for new gun

Re: No SCAR or ACR? US Army issuing RFP for new gun I swear they do this every 6 months or so (although last time it may have just been testing). I bet I can already guess the guns that will be submitted: H&K XM8 M4 Scar Heavy and Light HK 416 ACR

Hunting & Fishing Judge for Bear

Re: Judge for Bear I would second the recommendation that you carry a caliber that is at least sufficient to kill the bear. If you just get a few pellets into an angry bear, I don't know if it will necessarily deter the bear instead of provoking it. I am sure that the Judge has its place...

Suppressors Bill Wilson ( Is it worth it? )

Re: Bill Wilson ( Is it worth it? ) The Wilson's are very nice pistols, but I think that you can get a similar quality 1911 for less money. Don't get me wrong, if you purchase a Wilson you will get a good pistol but you are paying some for the premium name. As others have said, check into...

Rifle Scopes Weaver Tactical or Nikon Buckmaster

Re: Weaver Tactical or Nikon Buckmaster I've also been hearing good things about the Weaver (although I have never handled one) so I would probably go with that as well.

Rifle Scopes BUSHNELL TACTCAL OR VORTEX PST?

Re: BUSHNELL TACTCAL OR VORTEX PST? I have not put my hands on a Vortex PST, but I recently was going through this same problem. I ended up purchasing a Bushnell and am very happy with it. It is a solidly made scope and I didn't really hear any negative feedback about the Bushnells. Plus...
