You can also try rosin (bowling ball).I use it on my .308,30-06 scopes.Easy to clean off too. I know they are not 454 (yikes) recoil. But just my 2 cents.

Re: m1a lubrication Sinister got it.One of the few overlooked/talked about lube points. The bolt roller .Use grease.And one of the above devices for application....or a 10 m.m. auto case ,I'm cheap thats what I use . Good luck on the rifle,they are great !

Re: Shiny brass.. You may want to look into a timer . I'm using one I got 20 yeras ago . It looks like an windup egg timer , but has settings for 1 to 12 hours. Has a plug for the outlet and a single receptacle on it for my vibe cleaner . You'll also save a little $$$ on electric ....
