Re: 300 Win Mag loads with 208 A-Max? jrob300, Let me know how that load works once you get to stretch it out pass 200 yards not that 5/8 at 200yds is not good enough. I just had my 300 win mag 700P barrel cut down to 22".
Re: How accurate are M1s/M14s? If you want accuracy you can just use a GI fiberglass stock and that is better than bedding it and cheaper most of the time. you can remove it for cleaning as much as you like. Shim or unitize the gas system and a trigger job you are good. If you want to go all...
Re: Cold Hammer Forged Barrels I do not own one but I am looking at building an AR15 type rifle and I would like to use one then. I hear they are very accurate and they last a lot longer and the steel is suppose to be denser, they use a cold hammer forged barrels on the M24 rifle.
Re: .300 barrel length. Advice wanted. I have 700P in .300 win mag and just had the barrel cut to 22" and added a muzzel brake I plan on getting a SRT suppressor. I hope I get time to shoot it this weekend.
Re: Scope mount/M1A crazy bay, I have the Smith Enterprise scope mount, low mount rings .25" (can still use iron sight in a pinch) and a smith cheek pad with the Leupold MK4 2.5-8x36 MRT scope and I am pretty happy with it. I had the springfield mount and it sat a lot higher. I am sure if...
Re: M1A accuracy tips Mumbles, If that is a US GI synthetic stock you have and it fits tight keep it and you will not need to bed the stock, all of the good stocks for the M14/M1A that they have now you do not need to bed it. get a good shimm kit for the gas system (Smith Enterprise has...
Re: Sig P220 Match I would try a P220 SAO if you do not want to come up with the cash for the P220 Match, from what I hear the standard P220 is pretty accurate also. The standard SAO has a pretty nice tigger pull from the factory plus you will not have to deal with the fat wood grips.
Re: Melonite extending barrel life? Tim8654, AZPrecision I have my barrel and gas system on my M1A heat treated with the melonite treatment. It is not warped or chipping and seems to be wearing pretty good and it is pretty accurate so far. I have only put maybe 120 rounds through it so far.
Re: New Barrel on M1A Scout ? Jaeger_308, I was just wondering is it not shooting that good and what type of ammo are you using. Have you had the gas system unitized, had a trigger job. I think a new barrel will help but you will need to do all the accuracy mods for best accuracy gains. If...
Re: Bolt-action 'flash-hider' addition? Cixelsyd, OK, I know what you are talking about know that you put it that way. I have one on my M14 type rifle, I was thinking of a major problem, I know the sound not a problem. Thanks
Re: Bolt-action 'flash-hider' addition? sr15match, Other than the ringing like a tuning fork any othe negatives, because I have one being installed on my 700PSS in 300 win. mag, because I want to use the DC sound suppressor also.
