I realize every barrel is unique and will give different velocities with the same load. I didn't think I would be so close to published data while giving up 4 inches.
I recently installed a White Oak Armament 16" SS .223 Wylde 1-7" midlength Match barrel on my coyote rifle. I worked up a load using Lake city brass, 69 gr. SMK's, Varget, CCI primers. Using Sierra manual I started at 24 grs. Varget and ended at 25.3 grs. At 25.3 I had an average velocity of...
I thought this was interesting. I worked up a load using Sierra's loading manual and 69 gr. Sierra match king over Varget. 25.3 grs. gave me an average velocity for five shots @2748 fps out of the 16" WOA barrel. The manual data says 25.3 grs. @ 2750 out of a 20" Colt H-Bar barrel. My barrel is...

Well I guess it's unanimous. So I ordered the 16" WOA tonight. Should be here in a week. I will have to try out your load Gator. Thanks for all the replies. Doug
I'm looking to put a new barrel on one of my ar's. It will be a dedicated coyote rifle. Saw White Oak Armament online. I haven't heard of them, but their prices seem reasonable. Has anybody here used their barrels? If so could you let me know what you think of them. I was looking at their 16"...
If you naturally hold the rifle level, then I think you should get into shooting position and look through your scope at a plumb bob string and match your reticle to the string. Done. Now every time you get into your natural shooting position your retical will be perfectly level.
I'm looking at the Viper pst 4-16 Second focal plane scope to put on a Savage Model 10 fcp-k. Does anybody use this scope? If so what magnification matches the reticle for ranging. Can you tell me how you like the scope. Could this be a 800 yard scope? Any info would be appreciated. I'm new to...
Can a Savage Model 10 with a blind mag be converted to a detachable box mag. Is there a bottom metal kit? If so, are they stock specific. I own some bolt guns but they are stricly sporters for hunting and never researched customizing them. Thanks
