• Watch Out for Scammers!

We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!

I'm done with the IRS.

People are so stupid. If you ask most people what they paid in taxes for any given year the response you will likely get is "Oh I got back X amount of dollars on my income tax return" They have no clue what they actually paid in total taxes. Some people are so stupid they think the government is actually giving them a gift not even realizing they are getting back money they paid throughout the year.

I'm also a tax accountant. In the past I have run into many clients who thought this. Almost unbelievable.

Man, glad I’m not alone with my disgust for this agency. My wife’s an accountant, and as a .mil retiree I go out of my way to ensure we pay 100% owed on time; actually over pay usually because if there’s any question at all I just say fuck it, not worth risking any threat to my membership in the Federal check of the month program, LoL.

Last year they contacted my new employer to force them to drop my deductions to single-zero …. I’m married with two kids, and my Mother In Law lives with us too, and we haven’t claimed her as a dependent even though we could. They did this because I made more money every year after retirement due to my new income, and especially from stock options vesting…I joined the company just before the stock went vertical and was getting stock worth twice my annual salary for awhile there, so my income (and taxes) were increasing exponentially every year for a few years.

We always paid/pay our taxes on time, and again, have really over paid most years since retirement, but apparently Uncle Sugar likes his money A-Fucking-Sap, and can’t afford to wait for me to mail my check in at midnight on 15 April.

I actually went through my HR department and eventually ‘talked‘ to the IRS via an online chat to complain about this, and was told I could sue them, but had about a 90% chance of losing…and I’d have to pay all lawyers fees, etc. out of pocket win or lose. So I punted and just do everything I can to shelter as much income as possible.

#1stworld problems, right? And all things considered I’d much rather be paying taxes on money coming in than not having it, but the way they did this just pisses me off. I’m paying more than my fair share, but by God they gotta have it right the fuck now.

That's the scam. The employer takes the money before they see it. If people had to write a check every week to the IRS they'd be pissed. Make them pay the employer's part. Make them pay for unemployment insurance instead of the company. Heads would explode.
My wife’s first employer (a CPA) basically did exactly that…. Paid them every week in cash, then took out the taxes at his desk right there in front of them! Very effective mechanism to illustrate the true cost of taxes to them, and we never forgot it.

That’s not the worst of it. I know people who are paying less in taxes because of Trump’s tax law and they are freakin pissed that they are getting a smaller refund. 😳
When I first started my business back in 2001, I was paying this guy $15 an hour under the table to help me but I was pretty much just paying him for eight hours ($120) even if we only worked 4-6 hours. Anyway, he went and applied for food stamps, and they approved him for $200 a month, but in order to get it he had to go down and meet with them twice a month which he would take two days off from working which amounted to $240 dollars. I asked the guy why you are trading $240 in cash just to collect $200 in food stamps? His response was I am not losing money they are giving me $200 I can't turn that down.

The irs is one of a few eleatist scum that don't have to be any good at thier job to keep it.

They have no credible oversite or recourse for thier actions.

And no one can make them do thier fucking job.

I have learned much watching “Nomad Capitalist” videos on utube.
The USA is one of the the only countries on Earth that taxes it’s citizens and their relatives, no matter what country they live in.
I learned about one USA citizen, moved to Switzerland, married a Swiss national, became a Swiss citizen, but retained his USA passport. (Dual citizenship)
He has to pay both Swiss income tax and USA income tax on his Swiss income.
His wife, NOT a USA citizen, owes USA taxes on her Swiss income.
This evil is beyond making it up.
That guy's account sucks. Research the "bona fide resident test" and where your Tax Home is.

A lot of people in my line of work file taxes as a bone fide resident of Iraq.

Relevant US Tax Court case law attached.

The fact that it's called the "Tax Code" tells you right their how fucked up and complicated it is you shouldn't need to "decode" anything to figure out what the fuck your taxes should be. It should just be a simple percentage-based tax across the board, and everyone pay the exact same percentage. You want to spit out ten kids oh well that's your fucking problem to figure out how to feed them. Like others have said they keep it very complicated with all these carve outs, cut outs, and loopholes so they can take from one and give to another.

didn't some guy fly a plane into an irs office in texas in the not too distant past. when you're that loathed, maybe some sort of a change is in order. same as the dmv, they can make your life intolerable, even if you've done nothing wrong and it's their mistake.

The IRS processing campus in Andover, MA looks like a super max prison.

Hi strategy basically requires you to to renounce citizenship and bounce around the world between a few key countries without staying in any one place long enough to fall under their taxing jurisdiction.

He is level headed as anyone here.

Seems normal to me-just sayin'.

TN is normal as it comes. In US terms.

I'd check everything else against the going "normal".

But that is just me.

Full disclosure: TN is where I am headed this year.
Sorry TN is full. :)

Couldn't disagree more. If I could vote myself out of a job I would do so in a heartbeat. The AICPA is constantly lobbying for simplicity.

The tax code is absurdly overcomplicated because of the politicians. It's all smoke and mirrors to keep the layman from realizing how bad they're getting shafted.

15.3% of every dollar you earn working goes to social security, plus fed income taxes up to 40.8%, plus state income taxes from 0%-13.3%. Every time you fill up your tank there are fuel taxes built into the price per gallon to the tune of around 50 cents depending on state. Buying guns? There's tax built into that too. Flying? Same. Booze? Bend over. Tires? Yup. The list goes on and on. That's not even touching corporate taxes.

Then, with whatever's left, you get to pay property tax and sales tax on all the stuff you buy. Add it all up and you'll see what I mean.

You're being robbed blind and most have no idea just how hard they're being raped. It kills me.
Don’t forget estate tax when you die , capital gains if you invested any etc.

Meanwhile the turds that spend every dollar they make never have to worry about missing a meal housing etc

Those that are frugal and or invest in appreciating assets get the shaft

The .gov won when they started withholding.

If people had to write .gov a check we’d have a revolt and limited small .gov in a week

I can't even begin to comprehend how much of a clusterfuck this organization has become. I have amended returns that were sent in over a year ago that still haven't been addressed. At best, I get notices acknowledging receipt and indicating they need another 90 days to process the return. Clients are getting notices that their 1120 (C corporation returns) haven't been filed when they own LLCs taxed as S corps or single member LLCs/partnerships that have been chugging along for years. What the hell is this?

People are getting penalty notices for returns that were extended and/or filed before the due date. We prep penalty abatement waivers within a week (tops) and include the certified mail receipts, but the IRS takes so long to process them that their automated system puts the account in collections because they never got around to opening the damn mail.

We call in through the practitioner priority hotline and the agents that pick up (IF they pick up) have absolutely no idea what's going on. When I cite relevant sections of the tax code to explain to them why they're wrong, at least half of the time the call is magically dropped. It takes multiple calls and hours on hold to resolve simple issues, most of which are because the IRS dropped the ball.

I just had a client this morning that failed to close on a huge piece of property because the IRS had a lien posted to his account that was resolved back in 2012. Even if it wasn't resolved, the statute of limitations expired in 2018. They actually acknowledged that they screwed up, but oh well... give it a while and they'll clear it up. OK. Thanks.

TO THE FEDS LURKING ON THESE FORUMS:

Let your fellow government tit suckers know they need to get their shit together. You 'tards are about useless as a limp dick on a forehead.

End of rant. Thanks for listening. See you boys in the gulags. I'm going work on a pruno recipe tonight so that we can party in there.
Im sure it will all clear up if we up their budget another 40 billion and let them hire another 80,000 armed agents (scarcasm)
