Stop and think what a 30-06 would sound like at 66yds from the muzzle.
A Mauser in '06 wouldn't likely have a suppressor and that bitch would be deafening to the entire crowd. Even with the audio signal compression and nerd shit going on with people's phone vids, the shot report would have still been epic. Yet it was not.

The muzzle blast from a 30-06 would have had everyone videoing with their phone jerk like a motherfucker at the shot. None of the hand held phone vids translate to that.

Honestly I think the 30-06 muzzle report at 200 YARDS would have been more than experienced as well.

First video of it I seen sounded like a .22 rifle. And it looked like people didnt reacted to the gunshot report as much as him being shot. Other videos has the more rifle crack but its still not 30-06 loudness . Makes sense that it was suppressed... If not people would have been rocked and looked to where it came from youd think.

Probably search for King James Bible. Also some good newer translations that are good, but I just use KJV.
I can share a link later if you need reputable sellers. But there are quite a few.

Tap and die kits with a hand-holder? Sure, if you want a baffle strike or about a dozen other things to go wrong.

Without fixture, alignment, proper OD on the barrel (to match the major diameter of the thread), etc. etc. etc. you are going to gall the front of your rifle...

Not saying it can't be done. But cutting threads on a rifle barrel with a die set takes more skill than doing one with a lathe! At least if you own a lathe, you can chuck the barrel and use the tailstock to align the die. Try it in a vise and you'll end up with barrel buggery.

It's not as easy as it looks!

don't you have to remove the barrel from the action to thread it in a lathe?

If the goal is suppression, far better choices than a Mauser and all the complications that poses. Some of those old military rifles can be a bitch to remove barrel from action

Plus when you're shooting supersonic in a crowd of over 1000, very near to some of them, I don't think a can helps your tasks very much

Now if you're 300 yards from crowd, 400 from target, then I get it

If you just want a one-time use “suppressor” to partially reduce a sound signature/redirect that initial report, I’ve heard (heh, unintended pun) of people simply duct taping a 2-liter bottle filled with shaving cream to the end of a rifle barrel…in Minecraft.

What is the OD of a Mauser barrel?

This one is is a 7mm Rem Mag threaded 9/16-24. I don't have a suppressor threaded to that adapter right now- and am too lazy to make the switch for a photo op...

No, you can hold in a collet and run with a live center. As long as the action will fit up inside your headstock... or your barrel is long enough to pass through the headstock. See some pictures I posted in the suppressed Contender thread.

Done it a ton of times. Most of the time I will cut the thread on a lathe and then use a die to hand-chase the thread to remove burrs. But not to cut the actual thread. That can be really challenging. Can it be done? Absolutely. But it is much easier to do on a lathe and use a die for touch-up.

For some Troon moron to do it in a dorm room or his parents basement.... and then fit an actual suppressor. Which probably he cannot get... short of 'adapting' a solvent trap (which has to be drilled straight). and it gets tougher.

Dooable? Absolutely 100 percent. But it does take some skill. Ask @Threadcutter308 or John Baker or Frank Green or anyone else here who works with barrels and steel. Heck, it can be fitted with a needle file and a whole lot of patience and some lapping compound. I can cut a thread with a triangular file if you give me long enough. Easy? Nope. Dooable? Yup.

It’s a $0.50 Chinese mic that compressed a recorded sound that comes from behind it hundreds of feet away in a hole with a wall also reverberating the sound back the other direction.

You know how many deer have been shot at 200 yards with a 'sporterized' mauser?

Minute of pie plate is what it takes. That's what the fudds sight in on. That's a 12" circle at 100 yards. So a center mass shot at a large guy at 200 yards (or 200 feet.... I am not sure which any more) even with open sights is not a challenge. And given adrenaline and cold feet shakes... holding center and hitting up and to the right?

Any and all can be threaded for a suppressor. But it's not just 'Run a die over it... .

But like I said... can it be done? Sure. The cruder the tools availalbe, though, the greater the skill to make them work.
It can be done.

I am just thinking that this rifle almost certainly did not have a suppressor fitted. And even less-likely by the shooter who doesn't look like can pick his nose without his parents helping.

Yes, do-able (with hand die). Would I ? Absolutely not.

My opinion (and it's worth what you paid for it) is that the only way to absolutely insure concentricity is to chuck the barrel up in a 4 jaw chuck on lathe and have the trunion of the barrel supported by an adjustable spider attached to the back end/left side of the headstock. Then, you use alignment pins and dial indicators on each end of the bore and dial the barrel in.

Having said the above, it could be that the shooter (or, an accomplice(s)) knew that the shot count was going to be low (or one, as it turned out) and did not care about baffle strikes. That is, if a suppressor was even used. There's so much bad information floating around on this thread, I have zero interest in even speculating about that.
