Holy raised from the dead!
For feeding the beast. Proof research is doing the 20oz lightweight mountain hunter at stockys for $800 it’ll come in under 28oz bedded with internal mag and bottom metal. I think I read it is the lone wolf design but am frequently wrong.
Those are the added component weights not additional weight to the bare stock.
And the carbon barrel should offset some of the weight of the can should you be hunting with that configuration. It’ll probably balance pretty good all spun up.
That stock is listed at 40 oz add 8oz for BDL bottom metal, Wyatt’s box, spring, follower and a couple oz of devcon it’ll likely come in a little heavier than you think. They usually do.
You gonna run a brake on it?
The long range/toy rifles that I don’t hump around all day are mil/mil the lightweight hunting rig wears a VX3 CDS windplex MOA reticle as it was there before I got wrapped up in this madness.
I used to use a wheeler, first the magnet holding the bit fell out then it felt like something internally galled.
I now keep the borka kit in my range bag. I’m definitely not as consistent with it as the dial or click type however when needed it does the job and is a great little compact...
I get a little of the same binding when running hard.
When pushing tail of bolt to the right and running slow it appears there is a little contact between the ejector and groove in the bolt head at the beginning of the forward stroke. Almost like the grove in the bolt for the ejector isn’t deep...
Edit to the above The Badger uses the 3.650 COAL mag, your defiance may as well in which case you would be ok just not optimal. Are your mags 3.775” long?
Edit: you would still need to get the appropriate sized magazine
If your mags are the 3.775” length such as a standard (not CIP) 300WM Badger Ord M5 The accurate mags Lapua magazine in that length only gives you 3.675 COAL so likely to work
Only Defiance bottom metal I’ve seen is a BDL for Rigby that will load out to 3.850” COAL so if that’s what you have...
My 6.5cm R700 build
24” proof Sendero with thread protector
Manners EH1 with two flush cups
APA RTG bottom metal
Ruger 3rd plastic magazine
Atlas rail
Seekins scope mount
Leupold MK6 w/ stock caps
ARC M10 low rings
Weighs in at 9lb 2oz
I have a similar build it has a 24” proof carbon but hunt without the muzzlebrake.
It wears a MK6 in ARC M10 rings weighs around 9lb with an empty mag.
If your clothes dryer came with a removable rack you have my preferred method of drying wet tumbled brass.
I set brass on a towel on top of the rack and run it for an hour at the highest heat setting.
