Re: Question on Rem. 700 trigger issue.
when the bolt is not cocked there will be play in the trigger shoe, this is because the sear is not putting pressure on the trigger.
there should how ever be no play in the action to trigger housing interface.
and you can flush it out with...

Re: Rem 700 8-40 mount screws
i would just send it in for an exchange for the right mount.
opening up the holes yourself may lead to off center mount holes or some other problem.
Re: Remmy 700 triggers problems
this kind of problem is very hard to diagnose without having the trigger in person, one thing to look for though is maybe you backed it out to much letting the trigger return spring move when you bump checked it.

Re: Stock torque rem.700 sps ltr ?
i guess you just can't admit there is nothing wrong with my suggestion of 45in lbs. and besides, i've never said you can't do 65. i just cautioned the OP what MAY happen to the trigger guard.
nothing i've given was bad advice.
Re: Stock torque rem.700 sps ltr ?
ummm i never over thought it to begin with... 45 has always been my answer.
every post you've done has been trying to convince me and who ever that 45in lbs. won't work.
why won't it work??
Re: Stock torque rem.700 sps ltr ?

Re: will a M700P LTR stock fit my M700 SPS Tactical
yes, for most bottom metals the stock will need to be inletted.
H-S precision detach mag system on the other hand.. i'm not sure if it's it a drop in piece.
ETA: Wyatts BM is designed to be a drop in fit.

here you go... a split trigger guard on a brand new gun.
and in every post above i've said that higher torque values MAY cause a problem. never once mentioned it WILL.
i guess it only took one...
Re: Stock torque rem.700 sps ltr ?
yes energy does transfer up, down, side to side.
have you never seen barrel whip? that same energy is torquing right back in the action.
and no the bolts are not the weak point.. it was the bottom metal...^^^ look up^^^^
