    Hornady 208gr HPBT Match vs. 208gr A-Max

Re: Hornady 208gr HPBT Match vs. 208gr A-Max OAL can be shorter on the hpbt. I use them in place of the AMAXs now because they fit better in my ammo carriers. They shoot the same in my long throat 308AI and that little bit of length lets the lid close.

Re: 308AI cases The load I'm currently using for my 308AI is: 208gr Amax 48.0gr R17, 3.015" oal it runs around 3625fps in my 1:10twist 25.75" Shilen barrel. I went up to 50.0 grains but only gained 50fps and I didn't think 25fps/gr powder was worth it. When going from 47.0 to 48.0 I gained...

Re: 308AI cases Deep down inside I have been questioning R17s consistency. I have this gut feeling it may be a bit temperature sensitive. I was shooting 243AI in some 600yd benchrest comp last year and on four targets I couldn't get my last shot off before a wind change and had to let the...

    Photos 308AI cases

Re: 308AI cases We built these on a whim. We came across a 308AI reamer with a .3355 neck and throated long. I like Ackleys and had to try this. With no other information about it we bought it, measured it up and it was tempting. So I chambered two rifles with it and we just started playing...

What powder do you guys like?

Re: What powder do you guys like? Accurate 2230 and 2520. Both meter great and usually cheaper around here. More time shooting less time metering.

Re: Just built these sister rifles Randfal - Those are nice looking rifles, looks like a nice place to shoot too. It is a great place to shoot. I live in Wyoming and we have a saying, "If you move here and do not have a gun, don't worry, We'll issue you one." The range shot is in Pierre, SD...

Photos Just built these sister rifles

Re: Just built these sister rifles The Reloader 17 powder has been pushing them pretty fast for a 308. There isn't much gained going with an Ackley version except you gain a little more stable brass with less neck growth. The big gain is the long throat. It lets you seat the bullets out...

Just built two 308AIs with .3355 necks(for unturned Winchester brass) and long throats. One for me and one for my best friend. Tan rifle has 26" Shilen barrel in a #6contour. The green rifle has a larger diameter Hart barrel and bigger brake. Gunkote matte black coatings. Both are shall shank...

Equipment to start reloading 308 + more

Re: Equipment to start reloading 308 + more 1. What would be a good starter kit that has most of everything I need. I know Lee is the cheapest, but I heard that it's not that great for doing exact amount of powder, that will help you find those great loads. I am not worried about speed of...

So what is it neck sizing or collet

Re: So what is it neck sizing or collet For grins. Just email LEE with the question, Do you or can you make a neck die for 6.5x47? They will probably reply to you the same day with an answer and price. They are good people to deal with. I used to get custom decappers from them and they were...

Looking for a good single stage press for .308

Re: Looking for a good single stage press for .308 +100 for the Lee Classic Cast press. It's a real piece of machinery with options not found on the more expensive green machines. I had a old cast aluminum O-style press when I first started and it worked to get my feet wet but the newer...

Speed up your .308 Reloading Process

Re: Speed up your .308 Reloading Process You want speed? Forget your Full Length Die. Get a Lee Neck Sizing Collet Die and never look back. If all you are looking to do is reduce the time you spend loading, it will do that. You can eliminate lubing your brass, cleaning the lube back off the...
