how to reload with out a bench?other dumb question

Re: how to reload with out a bench?other dumb question Here is my break down. Since I already have once fired brass, it's a lot cheaper. 8lb Varget = $135 makes 1244 rounds at 45grn, but since you are loading for say, 1k, it's $108 for 1k. 1k 175grn SMK = $290 1 k CCI 200 Primers = $35...

Has HF digital calipers dropped in quality?

So I bought one of those Harbor Freight digital calipers that people rave about. I got the old one 2 years ago. The price was right and the quality of the caliper actually exceeded my expectations. It is very accurate and repeatable. Today I decided to get another one since they had it on sale...

how to reload with out a bench?other dumb question

Re: how to reload with out a bench?other dumb question Midwayusa sells a stand for about 60 bucks that you can mount a press to. I never used it but it has great reviews. Some suggests putting some heavy weight on the base to make it more stable. The cost difference is that match quality...

    Getting Started with Annealing

Re: More than you wanted to know... I recently did a bunch of federal brass and half of them crushed at the neck when I tried to size them. Is federal brass thinner than normal?

Rifle Scopes Leupold bashing: is it trendy?

Re: Leupold bashing: is it trendy? I won't bash Leupolds but my experience with them is very limited. I got the Leupold Mark AR for my AR15 and that scope is still one of the best bang for the buck scopes that I have bought today. The glass is amazingly clear and the turrets are very audible...

Rifle Scopes S&B 5-25x56 pmII zero stop is 0.6 mils below zero?

Re: S&B 5-25x56 pmII zero stop is 0.6 mils below zero? If I understand you correctly, you are wondering why the zero stop doesn't stop at exactly zero but rather moves another .6mils? I actually set my scope like this incase you need to make adjustment the other way.

    Bumping shoulder necessary?

Is bumping the shoulder back approx 0.002 really necessary? I mean, if you have no problems loading or extracting, it just sounds like another step that slows down the loading process. Also wouldn't setting the shoulder back work the brass more than just neck sizing and calling it quits? The...

Rifle Scopes ring height ? with AICS stock

Re: ring height ? with AICS stock 56mm objective nightforce on a badger 20moa base and I use a medium-high 1" Badger rings. I get less than a 1/10" space from barrel to scope. Works great. I tried the 1.125 high rings and that required me to raise the check piece to get proper cheek weld.

    Which chronograph would you recoomend

Re: Which chronograph would you recoomend I got a Shooting Chrono F1 master and it works pretty good. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it can be very finicky if the lighting isn't good. But I had great results with it last week and it was very consistent. For $90 it isn't bad!

    Good reason to buy Nightforce

Re: Good reason to buy Nightforce I'm a stickler for clear glass and Nightforce just isn't really great in that aspect. But I still love my nightforce for its precise clicks, feel, function, and craftsmanship.
