    Are the fast twist barrels a thing of the past?

    I wasn’t getting the results I wanted out of my Lilja 1x9 on the 457, so I did put a tuner on the end, and with out even tweaking it, it made a good improvement.

    What 22lr uppers should I look at?

    CMMG dedicated upper runs great. Fill in the groove on the charging handle to keep failure to eject problems from the spent casings getting stuck between the handle and the bolt carrier. Mine runs great. A few issues when new, has run 1000s or rounds with out a problem.

    I thought ‘fast’ was 1x9? Or am I hopelessly ‘slow’? Been a few years. My shooting buddy son was in the ‘transonic’ transition of high school to college. Might have some free time coming. We were just spinning up our 1x9 Lilja barrel 457s when our focus shifted.

    Chronograph recommendation?

    LabRadar is OK, but for subsonic 22, it is suboptimal. It doesn’t like small bullets for the radar return, and it doesn’t like quiet rounds, like subs, so it is kind of a PITA to use. An inertial trigger helps, but running the action sets it off too, so that adds a step.

    CZ 457

    I agree, 'pre-loading' the action with some pressure might help it bind. I got a key the right thickness and then had to dremel tool it fit- making it more half moon shape and taking a bit off the width. Seems to me that recoil lugs in metal chassis need some kind of mating technique.

    CZ 457 lilja barrel failure to extract

    Too late I guess, but I wonder what a ‘lighter’ whack of the firing pin on the case rim would do to MV? Don’t some 22lr actions use two firing pins and big ones at that to ensure consistent ignition and repeatable firing?
