    Are heavy barrels more accurate???

Re: Are heavy barrels more accurate??? Thanks for the thoughts guys. I can understand the rimfire bench guys seem to go nuts with tuners and extremely heavy barrels. In this case I believe the standard Marlin measures .625" vs .810" at the muzzle for the heavier version. The barrels seem...

    Are heavy barrels more accurate???

I have been drooling over multiple heavy barrel .22 for a while, most notibly a couple of the Savage models and the xt-22VR from Marlin. Both have been dang near impossible to get in Hawaii so I am getting to the point of going with a standard sporter weight barrel. I understand a heavier rifle...

Effect of drilling/tapping rail on bull barrel?

Re: Effect of drilling/tapping rail on bull barrel? I would expect more of an effect on accuracy based on what you ate for breakfast than attaching drilling and tapping a heavy barrel.

Gunsmithing Curing JB-Weld for scope base bedding?

Re: Curing JB-Weld for scope base bedding? +1 on whoever said dont even take the bases off. If I use JB/devcon, I put the bases where I want them to be and let them cure all day. I pull the screws, run a tap through to clean any junk out of the treads and torque it down.

Stoney Point Target Knob for my 17?

Re: Stoney Point Target Knob for my 17? I have used the stoney point covers in the past and was not satisfied enough with them to consider using them on a big game or precision rifle. I found that sometimes the knob attachment will slip slightly on its attachment point with the actual scope...

Gunsmithing anyone bond their rail to their rifle?

Re: anyone bond their rail to their rifle? After seeing all the inconsitencies of remington actions I bed all of my bases now. I do put a layer of johnsons wax on the actions just in case I ever want to pop it off but after it cures I clean the threads with the base in place and then torque...

MARLINS i'm not seeing allot of love

Re: MARLINS i'm not seeing allot of love Well I will find out soon. I wanted another .22 not necessarily as a dedicated trainer to mimic my match rifle, just a do-it-all rifle that was as accurate as I could use in the field and with a better fit than a lot of the rimfires out there. I went...

Bedding threads for Mark II and marlins?

Are there any past threads on here or links anyplace else for bedding the Mark II and marlins? I have plenty of bedding experience on centerfires but I keep hearing the rimfires are more sensitive to minor variations. I generally use William Roscoes method for bedding that is stickied on the...

    Quick Help on Possible Purchase

Re: Quick Help on Possible Purchase Teller the seller your concerned you will have to ship it back for the stock work and get him to take shipping fees off of the price. Seriously in that location I would not even give it a second thought unless you saw a termite coming out of the hole.
