6.5 creedmoor 130gr cx hunting load

My universal strategy for working up a load is lightly crimping a bullet bullet in a fired case set long, carefully chamber and remove to measure the distance to lands. Then I load up a ladder test with the bullet either touching or with a little bit of jam. Pick the accuracy node and velocity...

    30BR or 30BRX subsonic

Is anyone running these at sub and super velocities? How finicky are they, and how efficient are they? I’m debating hard about going this direction for a 300blk imitation with better supersonic capabilities, hopefully 155’s closer to the 2500fps range.

Rifle Scopes Another which scope should I get thread!!!

Give CSTactcal a ring. Highly recommend the TT and it’s where I’ve bought all of my high dollar optics from since that TT.

APA Paragon AI and AW magazines??

I have an ultimatum deadline in a KRG whiskey 3 that also runs both perfectly. I had to trim the mag catch for action fit, but AICS and AW mags both feed flawlessly, no matter what kind of pressure or where I put on the mags. The deadline is AW cut with an over insertion stop. As far as I could...

    300 WSM or 300 PRC?

If it’s purely a hunting rifle you’d be fine sticking to 300wsm or wm, I’d personally pick wsm of the two for that. I have a 300wm thats primarily a long range target rifle, that occasionally sees some deer hunting. I handload 225gr ELDs for it, and when it comes time to rebarrel I’m going...

Thank you PVA tax day sale

I inquired about getting a custom barrel done about 2 or 3 weeks ago and heard back in a day or two. Maybe the spam filter caught your email? I know my gmail puts the weirdest stuff in there.

    1st Post, 1st Accuracy Oriented (Recce-ish) Build

The bcg/upper touches the gas tube already, I don’t think there’s any noticeable impact on accuracy. The little anti-rotation piece is clearanced to not really impart any force on the gas tube anyways. Really all of the anti rotation is done with the clamps at the bottom. I’ve beaten the ar10...

    1st Post, 1st Accuracy Oriented (Recce-ish) Build

Nothing wrong with your parts list. V7 is good stuff, and I’ve been known to splurge on some unnecessarily expensive parts because I can. I have a preference toward the LaRue MBT triggers, replaced my geisseles with them. (and they’re a steal at $80). I also have nothing but great things to say...

    Ultimatum Deadline Shouldered Prefits

Interesting. Hopefully we can get some data piled up to get drop in prefits made for deadlines at some point then. I can’t imagine ultimatum would hold tolerances that wouldn’t headspace from one action to another.

    Ultimatum Deadline Shouldered Prefits

Gonna end up sending it to PVA I think, I was hoping to avoid having to ship the action but oh well. If you have the numbers and don’t mind PM’ing me what the measurements were for the low s/n action was it’d be much appreciated, I have sub s/n 230.

Why the Controversey over Creedmoor 6.5?

You’ve clearly misread what I’ve said. I’m asking for the specific standards you hold yourself too. You named time of flight, I assumed you had an actual number that you held yourself too, given that you keep mentioning math and specifics. I consider the sum of the factors that influence my...

Why the Controversey over Creedmoor 6.5?

Indeed it does. Nothing wrong with being inexperienced and reading on this site, there’s a wealth of knowledge passed around for those willing to listen. Bolty if you do find yourself tempted to post in a thread where you don’t have experience, it’s probably better to listen, or ask a question...

    Ultimatum Deadline Shouldered Prefits

Anyone with a deadline gotten one done? Is there a tenon spec out there for drop ins? I’m looking to move to shouldered barrels with wrench flats so I don’t have to pull the rifle apart to swap barrels. Thanks!

Why the Controversey over Creedmoor 6.5?

I think you’ll find that the same shot placement with either of these bullets will kill game just as dead. I’d also like to see the test redone at 800 yards, where the .308 is carrying 300 less FPS, and 40ft-lbs less energy (with a mil more drop). I have a feeling results wouldn’t be the same...

Range Report 156 EOL on 6.5CM worth it?

Imo, the trade off isn’t worth it. I’m currently loading the 144gr Berger LRHTs @ 2800 FPS with RL16 out of a 24” 1-8 twist. Even if you could get the 156s up to the same speed, the difference at 1000 would only be 0.13mils less drop, and with a 6mph wind 0.04mils less drop. What mags are you...

Why the Controversey over Creedmoor 6.5?

What tof do you set your limit at? How does wind influence your decision to shoot? What other factors? I’ve never really sat down to think about the specific limits I would set for myself, so I’m curious about yours.

Why the Controversey over Creedmoor 6.5?

What factors lead you to the opinion that 300 yards is the maximum ethical hunting distance? How rigid is your opinion? You wouldn’t take a shot on game at 310yds, but you’d shoot to 300yds all day long?

Why the Controversey over Creedmoor 6.5?

Just because it’s not their primary purpose doesn’t mean they don’t do it very very well. The data you’re going to find is that they kill great on most live targets. At this point you’re getting into a completely different discussion though. There’s a shit ton of both target oriented and...
