    AR15 failure to fire

Re: AR15 failure to fire We got to looking at the disconnector and it looks like the adjustment screw backed out a little. When it was backed out more the problem got a lot worse. So we adjusted it in and put some lock-tight on it. He will try and test fire it tomorrow.

    AR15 failure to fire

Re: AR15 failure to fire He's going to take a look at the disconnector tonight and see what the deal is. It sounds like the hammer is following the bolt as there is a mark on the primer of the round it picks up.

    AR15 failure to fire

A friend of mine is having a problem with his AR not re-setting the trigger during firing. It started out doing it maybe once out of 100 shots but has progressively gotten worse. Last weekend it got to the point to where it did it 3 or 4 times per 20 round mag. It chambers the next round no...

Gunsmithing Why am I getting POI Change?

Re: Why am I getting POI Change? I hope this image works. It was taken before I deburred it and filed the baffles flat. Originaly the hole was .01 over and now I opened it up .020 over. If I had to guess the recoil has got to be close to 50% less.

Gunsmithing Why am I getting POI Change?

Re: Why am I getting POI Change? Grabbed the action in the chuck, dialed in the barrel just ahead of the action ran a center in the muzzle. Turned my tendon, threaded, setup the steady rest moved center away indicated bore with indicator rod. re cut muzzle with a recessed 90 degree crown and...

Gunsmithing Why am I getting POI Change?

Re: Why am I getting POI Change? I cleaned up the muzzle brake and found a slight copper scuff mark on the top right at the end. I opened up the bore a little more but I haven't tried it yet. I am surprised the bullets were holding together and didn't disintegrate and they shot pretty good...

Gunsmithing Why am I getting POI Change?

Re: Why am I getting POI Change? I ran the center in the bore when I threaded it then I used a steady rest to re-cut the crown with a recessed 90 degree. I can't see anything were it is striking the muzzle brake. I am shooting berger vlds and it seems like they would fly apart if they were...

Gunsmithing Why am I getting POI Change?

I just installed a muzzle brake on my .300 Win mag. Now there is a big point of impact change. With the muzzle brake on I am about a foot lower at a hundred yds. Is this abnormal? I bored the muzzle brake .02 over size and threaded both on the lathe so everything should me concentric.

    Gunsmithing Recoil lug alignment

Re: Recoil lug alignment Wouldn't the trial and error with leveling the action and the bottom of the lug work. When I buy my lug I will probably get a alignment tool for that specific lug. How do you pin a lug? Is it in to the face of the action with a short pin.

    Gunsmithing Recoil lug alignment

How do you align the recoil lug when you are putting on a new barrel. I was thinking of leveling the action and just trying it untill the bottom of the lug is level. But im sure there has got to be a better way. Im not sure what lug I am going to use yet.

    Gunsmithing Chambering question

I am trying to build a .308 on a Remington action. I just got "The Complete Illustrated Guide to Precision Barrel Fitting" and I had a question. It sounds like in the book when you chamber you use the rougher for about 1/4 in. then switch to the Finisher to cleanup. Then go deeper with the...
