    Next upgrade for accuracy?

Bedding, if done correctly, usually produces more consistent accuracy from my experience. Unless there's a problem I doubt it will in tease the accuracy that much, since you're already getting .5 out of it. A trigger is a good upgrade, but again if you're already getting .5 then probably not...

hmmm well based on that it's a 1967. I don't know, didn't expect it to be that old.

    Remington 700 manufacture date

Hey guys I'm looking for some help with dating a Remington 700 I have. The serial number is 280xxx. The barrel stamps I'm finding are 9PK with a spacing and the what looks like 12 or 1S right where the barrel meets the action. I found some info on 1921-1972, but it doesn't seem to fit any of...

    Gunsmithing Savage 10FCP Mcmillan issue

That doesn't seem right at all. I've never run into this problem with any savage I've ever had. I would wonder if the base was right for the gun. I usually bed the base to the action as well. It helps remove some small imperfections, if any exist. The windage thing is a tricky one. I might also...

Gunsmithing need help with custom savage build

I sure wouldn't think the stock would be flexing that much, but I spent a lot of time on other things before I accepted the stock was flexing on my rifle. It's always possible I suppose, but I sure wouldn't think so. I don't really know what to tell ya here. It's difficult to say without having...

Gunsmithing Don't know what to think

I'm waiting on a stock. Ordered in February and was told 18wks. Still nothing yet. I called and they said they are really backed up. It happens and like stated before it is a good thing they caught it. The problem is whether you feel they are being truthful or just buying time. At least that's...

    Neck sizing

I was curious about that. I have a small base die set for the 30-06, but I don't have an semi auto rifle any more, so I was wondering. I've neck sized plenty of 308 ammo that has been fired in my bolt gun and never had to beat a bolt open or had any issues, let alone lost cases or had case/head...

    Neck sizing

Quick question for ya. Could a guy neck size 06 ammo with a 308 win neck die? I'm kind of curious if anybody has ever tried or has any info on it? I sort of wondered since the bullet size is the same, but I really don't know if the tension is different. The shoulder is some what. That's what I'm...

Gunsmithing need help with custom savage build

The tang float starts from the rear action screw back. I've read that a lot, mostly on Savageshooters sight I believe. I don't recall why, but I'm pretty sure it's issues with stress, as there really is no tension back there. The safety is also an issue I think, but don't recall. I've always...

    My DIY Projects

The little net type laundry bags will produce a similar pattern for painting. I've used it before and it worked well. Just FYI. I believe I got mine at Walmart and I just cut it as needed.

    Citristrip review/warning

Good to know! I've used this product, but only on wood stocks to remove the old finish before staining/clearing or painting. Sorry to hear that it damaged your scope though. Hope that works out for you.

    DIY adjustable buttpad

Looks like it turned out well! I wish I had a mill to do some stuff like this, but I'm not sure I'm patient enough. As far as the progress pics go, well you're definitely not the only one that forgets to do that! I do it all the time and when it's done, I always want to smack myself because I...

    Stock Texturing

Devcon also works well for this, however, I used a sponge to texture. The only complaint I had on my job was that it was very rough and required a lot of sanding. I'm pretty sure it was the sponge that I used, but not 100% sure. I just had to sand it a little bit more. It was very durable and...

Another DIY Remington 700 Bolt Knob Install (Pic Heavy)

Great job! I've done the same with my Savage rifles, only it seems like it's easier, since I can work with the bolt handle only vs the entire bolt handle/body. You also did a great job with the pictures and write up on this.

    Calling the shot/Recoil?

That's a great analogy! Never really thought about it like that, but it serves the same purpose. I've always looked at "calling the shot" as a product of POA and the feeling the shot or recoil gave me. If it felt good and returned to POA, then I always felt like the shot would be right in the...

    Murphy's law and the safety

Good eye sir. The little things make so much difference in most cases. This could be the difference between an easy safe day and an officer getting a trip to the ER and somebody having some esplainin to do!

Rifle Scopes Help on budget scope

Look at the vortex viper (not the pst) it's like 6.5-20something and is available in a 44 or 50mm objective. It's available for around $450-550 I do believe. Very solid optic with really decent glass for the money. The Vortex HS got good reviews, but seems a lot have hit the market lately...
