I have a pair of these in 8x25 and their performance for their price and size is outstanding. they hold their own against a pair of Nikon Monarch 8x42 looking at things on the horizon at the beach. probably won't hold up as well in low light but in daylight they're amazing...

I had gen1 sold it got gen 2. it's heavier but it fixed a couple issues - Gen1 illum was iffy and had the switch on ocular housing, Gen2 has better reticle and significantly better glass. the Gen 2 is a much better scope IMO, but heavier. how much does that mean to you?..

I see AR10 more for barrier penetration than long distance over the AR15 but it should be good out to 800yds. a good 2-10 or 3-15 for target ID...
