I had some issues with PPU brass as well. I was running 178 AMAX's atop 43.5 grains of varget, and OAL was loaded to 2.80. My Savage 10FP plan and simple you couldn't get the brass out of the chamber. I pulled a bunch and check powder since this was mid load from Hodgons website but high for the...
This is from piston pete way back when. I use the 99% isopropyl alcohol and lanolin for my lube and like this guy I can lube 250+ at a time. I use SS tumbling though so it is easy to get the lanolin off with dawn on the final quick wash. I store my extra in a air tight mason jar. "buy 32...
Well got mine mounted up. Shots are off my phone and it was late so I wasn't to focused on quality. I did move the sling back too I now see why everyone uses the rear flash cup on these :) Funny my savage looks a bit like yours did before the change. It is a bit heavy the choate is a great stock...
How about some pictures when you get a chance :). I have a basic Tan one I just bought off a hide member. Got it mounted last week no range time yet though.
Everyone has said it already it is most likely your stock. So test with a better stock first and foremost if you are sure everything is torqued to spec. I am in the Phx area along with many other members here. I am sure someone would let you barrow a stock for testing and even be a second...
tumbler Here is my tumbler. I have a 3rd drum and they all fit I just haven't had time to fix the inner liner that has a crack in it. Expoxy will fix it just no time and no pins for it at the moment. Since going SS I will never go back :) old tumbler has a nice dust layer on it. Also a...
I do not always use the pins in my cleaning cycle. I have 3 drums and only 2 have SS so if I need to clean some brass the sized brass goes in a drum with water and dawn. I do put some more soap in then I do when I clean so maybe 2x more. I only tumble that for 30 min or so and I have yet to have...
Same here and depending on the case if I use lube to size I re-tumble with dawn and water (use a homemade case lube so soap takes it off really well) after I do the the first tumble then prep.
Before and after shots of a piece of brass found out in the desert. It was out there for many years as I found it buried and just happen to see it sticking out a tiny bit when I was picking up another piece of brass. Heck I thought it was steel and almost through it in my steel scrap bucket...
I currently run the SWFA 5-20. Great scope for the money I am not sure I am sold on the reticle. It has some good features but being as it is not the norm of what I am use to (mil dot) It is taking some time getting use to. It is built like a tank though I feel like I could use it as a club if...
Re: Thieves.... forced start over Sounds like a rough deal. If you would like some 223 brass to get going again let me know I am more then happy to get some together and send it your way. 308 I am very short on so all that I have I use. Not sure if they got most of your brass or cleaned you...
Re: Stainless Steel Media Testimonials Personally I have never needed more than a 9mm case of lemishine. Not trying to split hairs as a 40 vs 9 is tiny in the scheme of things. As for drying I live in AZ so I tumble my brass in a towel then throw them on a metal screen in the sun for any hour...

Re: Savage 10FP Stock Upgrade CDI is the way to go. I got a choate tactical with the factory bottom metal for a good price so I am running a Dark Eagle 10 round mag and 2 factory 5 rounders. Get behind any stock you are thinking about to make sure it is right for you (if possible). I loke my...
