I took my fingers off after seating the rifle. The MP joint of my index finger remained on the stock simply as a locator. I misunderstood your muscle group question as I perceive that my index finger muscle group is the only one that I am using to press the trigger.
I was dry-fire practicing and thought (I am a bit new to this "thinking" stuff, I wear ACU's for a living), "Hey dood, try this without your left hand gripping the stock (I'm a left-handed firer); just press the trigger as you normally would with the rest of your fingers off of the rifle." I did...

Re: Removing the military primer crimp I've cut mine out with the primer pocket uniformer on my RCBS Trim Mate. It went pretty quick, performed two operations at one time.
Sunday I was shooting and had some flat primer issues. The load was .308 168 grain Berger Hunting VLD, 42 grains of Varget, once-fired FGMM brass trimmed at 2.005", CCI 200 primers. The rifle sat on the firing line for about an hour, while the ammo was in the truck. The first five shots had...
Re: Remington firing pin issue... Thanks Wild Bill, I am never gonna jump on the "Remington isn't safe" bandwagon, I was just figuring that I did something unsafe. I've shot 700's for years, just never noticed the cocking piece (don't have any idea why I couldn't remember the nomenclature)...

Re: Remington firing pin issue... In dry fire mode, yes. I don't know if I should run live loads through it... I am kinda fond of the 7 holes God put in my face, I don't want to add any unnecessary ones. Plus the leakage of red life juice from my head might not be too pleasant...
I hope you can assist me here... I have put 255 rounds through this Remington 700 SPS Tactical, when it was new, the firing pin was about 1/16" proud, now it is about 1/32" inside the shroud when cocked... Is there any need to worry? Cocked and on "Fire" Cocked and on "Safe" Fired Cocked...
