My guess is that probably wouldn't turn out all that well and attachment would be tricky. The MOE is probably the cheapest non-railed option. A google search turned up... Apex 2150 GatorGrip Handguard - 8.5" Ext. Carbine Length with Cutout Evolution Series 7-EX : Samson Manufacturing...
Build on a CMT receiver set, Mega 16" barrel, 14" Fortis Switch Rail, Bushnell DMR in a SPR-S mount. Now if the ATF would just hurry up with the paperwork for my 7.62RC.
Your requirements seem confused. You say you want a mil/mil scope, but then say you prefer 1/4 MOA clicks. Not sure what you meant by that, but a little more research may be in order to truly understand what you want. At that price range wanting a variable scope, with mil/mil reticle/clicks and...
With handloads my mod 0 will shoot right about MOA if I do my part. I have had individual groups sub MOA but average group sizes are 1-1.25 MOA. When I had it mine in a Troy MCS, it was a 2-2.5 MOA gun. I weighed mine a while back and I recall it being about 14 lbs with an empty mag.
My brake was tight as well and didn't want to break my castle nut pliers. I used a leather strap and some large channel locks and it came off without marring it. As for the op-rod guide, I used my 12ton shop press and it came off with ease. The new one was easy enough to drive on with a plastic...
If you go with the Harris I'd recommend the swivel model (in whatever height suits you) and get yourself something like the Pod Loc. However, the Atlas is awesome however there is a big difference in price.
You would be 20" high at 100 if you didn't zero the scope. You are forgetting that you now have to dial the optic down to zero at 100. This now gives you 20MOA more up adjustment from your optic that would have been otherwise wasted. Just zero at 100 and drive on.
The X-Mark pro in my 700 was complete rubbish. It was the most inconsistent trigger I've every had on a gun. I replaced mine with a Timney 510 and have been more than pleased with the result.
I have had good luck with Hornady 1 Shot, Kiwi shoe polish and McLube 1700L spray. The McLube seemed to work the best, but the other options have produced quality results.
Re: anyone have an armscor officer sized 1911? I have a Rock Island compact tactical and I love it. It's now my current "cool weather" carry gun. I got it for the same reasons that you are looking at it for. I've since put almost a thousand rounds through it with only a hiccup in the first 50...
