    Perfect Rifle For PRS

Dunno, haven't had a chance to let Frank inspect it yet.

    Perfect Rifle For PRS

Ever shoot a "know your limits" or "test your limits" stage? It is not uncommon for these to be done at 100 yards. There'll be decreasing-size dots, starting at ~1.5" going down to perhaps 1/4". Can you target a 1/4" or 3/8" dot @ 100 yards with 10x? Maybe, but not like you can with 25x. For...

    Perfect Rifle For PRS

Most do, probably ~75%. Favorite? APA LB, Badger Thruster, JEC are popular. Some run suppressors, also, but way fewer. Why do some people not use a brake? Because some people don't like the blast. Others find a ~243 or ~260 really just doesn't need one.

    Safety factor in reloading manuals?

SAAMI provides a maximum safe operating pressure. Load data tells you what pressure was measured during test firing. If you go higher than the manual suggests, you're almost certainly operating at higher-than-SAAMI-compliant pressure. So the question is NOT if there is a safety factor in the...

    Perfect Rifle For PRS

My guess is because there aren't very many 60º actions out there, the M2008 had a pretty stiff bolt lift as well as some other quirks, the M2013 hasn't been out very long and people are still wary of the M2008, and the community seems to be on a Defiance kick...before that it was Surgeon. EDIT...

    giraud trimmer

I've got the annealing machine as well. I chose it over the competition because I've been so pleased with the trimmer, plus it's the only unit I'm aware of that is "autonomous" once you load it up. All the other (carousel style) ones I've seen require you to sit there and hand-feed cases in one...

    Perfect Rifle For PRS

I think it's a smidge over 15. Do as I SAY, not as I DO! :-) I think simply replacing the 2013 action with a Defiance/Stiller/Rem700 would get it inside 14lb. A lot of (considerably) lighter scopes available, too.

    Perfect Rifle For PRS

It's only my 2nd 6mm. My first was/is the 6xc. It sure *feels* like the SLR has a much easier time propelling the 105s to 3150 than the XC does, despite the fact it takes more powder in the SLR. I guess the question becomes: What hurts a barrel more, 40gr H4350/105hybrid@3150fps/65,000psi or...

    Perfect Rifle For PRS

The B6D is pretty close, some close variant is pretty much ideal: Quality action of your choice 24-26" RemVar(ish) barrel from a premium manufacturer 6mm chambering of your choice that fits in AIAW magazines, run the 105 hybrid @ 3100+, and won't make you cry when you lose some brass. Brake is...

    Thanks Dillon Precision!

I told the technician my press was old, and different from my friends' new units. They sent me all the parts to update it. New greasable crank linkages, thicker ramhead plate/Caseslider etc etc. I actually feed kinda bad about all the free stuff...

Muzzle break for 300 win 5/8-24 thread

Why won't your brake go on all the way? Could be: Muzzle threads oversized Brake threads undersized Brake not threaded all the way through No thread relief at base of muzzle threads Crown is bottoming against the brake before the shoulder does

Rifle Scopes Nightforce 5.5-22x50 vs. 5.5-25x56

^ Valid point about exit pupil. The x56 will have a slightly larger exit pupil at all magnifications. Still, the 50mm can be mounted 3mm (~1/8") with the right choice in rings.

Rifle Scopes Nightforce 5.5-22x50 vs. 5.5-25x56

The 56mm will mount higher (obviously) and provide a slight edge in lowlight performance... we're talking an extra 60-90 seconds of shooting time at dawn and dusk. Don't feel bad wanting 22x on a 308. EDIT: I believe you've made a typo; there's a 5.5-22x50 and a 5.5-22x56, but no 5.5-25x56. I...

    7mm choice in an SA - 7-08, 708AI, or 284 ???

    Agreed. Zip.shit difference in trajectory/drift between a 142smk @ 2825 from a 260/6.5creed and a 162amax @ 2775 from a 708. Hardly makes a difference in game-taking either. There's no animal I'd try to take with a 708 that I wouldn't try for with a 260. The OP mentioned a 22" barrel, though...

    7mm choice in an SA - 7-08, 708AI, or 284 ???

What is "fast enough"? A 708 will usually achieve 2750-2800fps from a 162. That is fast enough for many folks. A friend has played with the 180 berger in his 708, and that runs over 2650. A .67 BC bullet @ 2650 is a damn fine performer! My short action 284 acheives 2825 from a 175smk. That is...

    Thanks Dillon Precision!

I've got an older than dirt 650 I bought used. It came with a spare parts kit, which I've had to break into several times. I've kept the broken springs/pieces in a baggie, so I could call Dillon with a list of new parts I needed. As usual, they graciously fedexed me all my requested bits...

Rifle Scopes Badger VS Seekins scope rings

BO and Seekins are both great. I prefer Seekins because they're lighter and sleeker. The corners are more rounded and they don't have the nut hanging off the side. I theorize the aluminum of the Seekins is less likely to cause ring marks, but I've never had ring marks with properly torqued BO...

    bullet to replace 6mm - 105 amax

The 105amax isn't particularly amazing, so any of the ~105gr target bullets will perform about the same. I've been using the HRNDY 105hpbt match as a plinker in my 6xc. It shoots nicely.

AIAX Problem: Out of spec ammo, firearm, or something else?

Sharpie-up a spent SSA case. Chamber it. Extract it. See where the sharpie is rubbed off - my guess is the bottom 3/8" of the body. Was this ammo advertised as NEW??

    Gunsmithing Muzzle damage question

That barrel will be good to go, you've nothing to fear. You really ought not have to pay for the extra shipping trip, though.
