Re: Phoenix Custom Rifles 7 mag That is one clean rifle right there Brad! Great work as always. Gotta say I'm diggen the stock too, that color scheme looks RAD! If you're thinking of having a rifle built or looking to have a rifle built give the guys at PCR a shout. You can't go wrong.
Re: Looking to Build a 18.5" rifle I have a New Trued remington M700 SA (SPS) , New Krieger 5R barrel 1:10 varminter which can be cut, crowned and threaded by Phoenix Custom Rifles. I have a Like New Trued Remington M700 SA (LTR) with a Krieger 1:12 tight bore in medium palma (similar to...
Re: conventional mill cutter speed for stock inletting I used a 3/8 4 Flute Carbide End mill with an extended shank and ran it about 1000rpms (could go faster), worked fine. Just don't run your feed too fast. My 2 cents
Re: Reworking my Howa, UPDATED! Made myself a new lever for CDI DBM! check it out. Similar to the Surgeon style and can be used by either hand. It feels better and works better IMO. Befor! After! I repositioned the spring dimple on the lever to keep the spring horizontal, makes it feel...
Re: just some pictures from this weekend's shop time. Great pictures and damn good work sir. I enjoy seeing other people's methods and outcomes. Keep it up!
Re: Ejection/Extraction Problem Rem 700, PTG bolt I had the problem of the brass hitting my scope turret then going back in with a factory extractor. Keith lengthened my ejection port so the brass had a chance to get out sooner, haven't had that happen since.
Re: Reworking my Howa, Remington and Mauser bottom metal design IMO. Its just a little thicker there. The DBM sits nice and flush, the action sits right where it should. If you dropped one end down it would tilt the DBM which seems level from end to end so it might mess with feeding. When you...
Re: Reworking my Howa, Remington and Mauser the Bottom metal sits flush and looks good all the way arounds but the trigger gaurd is a little too thick for my taste. With some minor machining it should feel and look great.
Re: Reworking my Howa, Remington and Mauser Here are some pictures show some of the differences in design. The surgeon, notice the angles machined at the top of the latch. The A.I, again notice the area above the lever. A.I has the chassis behin the mag well just slightly so the mag...
Re: Reworking my Howa, Remington and Mauser Keith I'd rather not drop the DBM deeper than flush, thats where it needs to be IMO. The gaurd just needs some minor material removed which should be no problemo. If I inlet deeper I have to redo the latch and everything els to get the fit it has...
Re: Reworking my Howa, Remington and Mauser one more thing! the trigger gaurd is quite a bit thicker than other designs. when inletted for the DBM to sit flush like it should, the trigger gaurd rubs your trigger finger while trying to shoot. I just dont like feeling of anything other than the...
Re: Reworking my Howa, Remington and Mauser Well put Keith. A couple other findings about the DBM is that if you modify everything to fit and function with a C-products mag the A.I mags dont fit and vise versa, do the the feed lip heights. A.I, badger, seekins and Surgeon don't seem have this...
Re: Reworking my Howa, Remington and Mauser Got my McMillan A5 stock for the Howa! I'm really looking forward to testing this rifle. All's that is left is to torque down the barrel and mount a scope If the rifle shows no issues I will have it coated by Phoenix Custom Rifles and bed it myself...
Re: howa smiths Man I wish I could take in the work. I'm finishing up on one right now that will be my personal back up match rifle. Try Keith at Phoenix Custom Rifles, he might be able to help you out.
