Re: 1000 yard scope power You will need a good clarity optic. Stick with Schmidt and Bender, USO, and Night Force. Those 3 brands are perfect. I would stick with 22x magnification for going out that distance. My 12x power Schmidt and Bender was good up to about 800 meters.

Re: M1A wood stock finish Yes, Linseed oil is great. I used it on my M1A Super Match. Only problem is that you have to keep applying it on. I would not mess with the finish on the stock. It was meant to have no finish.

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes I had a 3rd Gen 6-20x56mm. Great Scope. Has lots of adjustments for a 30mm tube. The quality is not that great. Made in China. I think that is why Springfield Armory is no longer selling them.

Re: S&B 12x50x56 Second Plane Not familiar with Second Focal Plane. Most Tactical Shooters prefer the 1st. It is easier to range find on any magnification.
